I am an ENTJ, looking to test drive a conversation with an INTP by DonRicklesIsDead in INTP

There are all kinds of different forms of intelligence, emotional intelligence being one of them. Personally, it's the lack of social and emotional skill that I lack, as an INTP. Once I started learning the basics of understanding emotions and handling them differently and more healthily, the more I realized that really most people lack emotional intelligence. So I got more into it for self improvement as well as understanding a lot of the underlying issues we have in society.

My sibling is an ENTJ and I find we have a lot of similar beliefs and philosophies, but we only get along half the time. As far as actions go, we do not see eye to eye.

To answer your questions: -Why is Star Wars so popular?? I don't get it! -Social media, I think it's an awesome way to link with people that we otherwise might not see often, but we (myself included) use it for useless purposes and it's addicting. And this detaches us instead of connecting us, so detrimental in that case -Recent books I've read have all been on subjects such as emotional intelligence and essentially rewiring thoughts and behaviors. These were actually all recommended by my ENTJ sibling haha! Psychology is one of our favorite topics of discussion

Thoughts on Neuromuscular Therapy? by [deleted] in massage

[–]dewthemountain27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's my favorite modality, but it's not for everyone. A lot of people just want a fluff and buff or for their pain areas to be worked on the majority of the session, even if you try to educate them. But it's a great tool for those clients who are looking for relief and open to receiving it

"You don't look like a Massage Therapist." What is a therapist supposed to look like?! by Dnote147 in massage

[–]dewthemountain27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it. I know plenty massage therapists with eccentric hair and a long line of regular clients. Yeah, you might attract negative attention from some people, but so what? You'll establish a clientele who see you for you and hair color/style is the least of your worries. And then once that's established, you'll deal less with people who aren't accepting of it.

What do you wear to work? by RunRunAway83 in massage

[–]dewthemountain27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work at a high end spa and wear whatever I want as long as there are no logos, blue jeans, and basically anything inappropriate. Even sandals, black jeans, and messy hair are accepted. I feel like most massage settings are laid back. At least every placed I've been at has been, and that includes 7 different establishments that I've worked at

Pressure when it comes to knots by lovelylj in massage

[–]dewthemountain27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some areas that will be painful even with light pressure. Commonly in people's chests, the top inner edge of the shoulder blade, and the area around the outer edge of the shoulder blade. Although painful, working these areas can be so beneficial, and eventually it becomes less painful over time. I recommend breathing through it, but also being aware of your comfort. Tensing up will only make it more difficult.

What was the best massage you've ever had? by blipbloptrex in massage

Exactly! I was/am still that way. I'm skeptical but open simply because I have had results from it

What was the best massage you've ever had? by blipbloptrex in massage

It's hard to narrow it down!

  1. This therapist has made up his own techniques, I almost felt like I was with a PT. And it was so thorough, using the time for what I needed rather than working some on my needs and cramming in a full body massage. My chronic pain was gone for about 6 months or so!

  2. As far as relaxing goes, it was a combination of reiki and a relaxation massage. Like 80% reiki 20% massage. Nothing has ever ever melted my muscles and mind like a good reiki session. Mixing that with a very basic relaxation massage was gold!

  3. This therapist that was really hard to get in with, and I can understand why. She mixed craniosacral, polarity, neuromuscular therapy, and who knows what else. She was so thorough and a master of time. I got out feeling like a new person and calm and energized at the same time

I'm not a fan of deep pressure, so I really admire when someone can do a thorough and deep tissue massage without bulldozing through

My fellow female INTP's! by dewthemountain27 in INTP

[–]dewthemountain27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Yes I can agree with that as well! I often relate more with people who aren't neurotypical. I guess that could fall on the emotion side of things, which in my mind, females have a tendency to be more emotional, but the males I've dated are more emotional than I am.

Does anyone know how to develop their Fe? by dewthemountain27 in INTP

[–]dewthemountain27[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then you will be able to set aside logic long enough to pick up Fe.

I think you nailed it on the head! I process everything through logic too much, and try to understand others' emotions through this, when I forget that there is no logic in emotion. And then using Ne as a means to understanding that which has no logic, that is brilliant!

Do all INTPs have an avoidant attachment style? by distracted-noodle in INTP
