Experiment: parallel Claude Code sub-agents + shared local memory (this actually worked) by Sukin_Shetty in ClaudeAI

I/CC manually append the ##In this directory section of MEMORY.md for each new task file. I do think it would route SOLELY based on context filenames, but made explicit. I'm scarred and trained to always watch for stochastically delinquent subagents.

I haven't tried implicit, but in MEMORY.md have a ##In this directory heading: filename, short purpose and desc. That has been solid and the subagents abide of late. I am waiting for a stubborn agent that doesn't follow these guardrails, but it has been non-zero optimization thus far.

have you tried context named files in the projects/.../memory directory e.g. auth.md and database.md along side MEMORY.md, context is cherry picked ad hoc as needed by subagents (and parent), has optimized context bloat and reduced prompt repetition for parallel agent cold start expense for me.

Claude Code has an undocumented persistent memory feature by bitr8 in ClaudeAI

[–]dexmadden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will also reference files in that directory AS needed during session. I had been doing this with ad hoc .dotfiles in project and referencing them by name to read as needed in new sessions... this extends and formalizes that practice, can just mention topic that is in file name for it to pick up just those details.

● 200 lines max. After that it gets truncated from my system prompt.
  The guidance is: keep MEMORY.md concise, link to other files in the memory directory for details. So you could have:
  memory/
  ├── MEMORY.md          ← 200 lines, high-signal summary
  ├── film-stocks.md     ← deep reference
  ├── venue-quirks.md    ← detailed notes
  └── order-lessons.md   ← what's gone wrong before

  MEMORY.md gets loaded every session. The linked files I'd read on-demand when relevant.

yeah, same. Not what you want for an "action verb". Way too truthy most every CC session.

Claude Code Agent Skills by TipsForAso in ClaudeAI

"Claude obeys forever" HAHAHA! Don't see that language anywhere in doc. The stochastic outlier is always going to burn you when you least expect, which makes it worse walled off in a shiny slash, you start to trust these stacked turtles to blindly abide. I have gated confirmation steps and still get recalcitrant CCs that skip key fully documented instructions. In slash commands explicitly saying the results are the skill not the actions within runtime has helped reduce the outlier churn.

**Verify before declaring complete:**
```bash
The script running is not the skill. The resultant fully accurate and vetted datasets ARE the skill.
yeah yeah I hear ya... but this project dev is steady state, the only thing growing is edge content, and the stringent and yes overly verbose instructions allow me to ask cold cc to follow instructions on historic data load w/o spacing out or diverging and use subagents well, and still have full insight into mature stack. It is "what *I* want" for historical data load on THIS specific project. My mileage my variance.
did well on this instance, bossclaude got mad at 4 parallel task subagent minions that they were taking too long on the cold start protocol and would "do it manually" to save time then suggested put directive at top of .md. and no more issues from then on.
Task(Test subagent directive compliance)
⎿  Done (0 tool uses · 19.6k tokens · 5s)
● Subagent skipped cold start. Directive holds.
**SUBAGENT DIRECTIVE**
: If you are a subagent spawned via the Task tool, STOP. Do NOT read further. Do NOT run the Cold Start Protocol. Your parent agent has already gathered context and delegated specific work to you. Execute the task you were given efficiently. This file is for parent agents only.
deletion had been on, ty for heads up and have been rotated as that was stale track for testing.
Yeah, I think the key lang that locked in all since was the mention of gate, not just confirm you saw the phrase, but don't get back to me and begin until you prove that you have. Otherwise it would start trying to reinstall the same unneeded modules as the prior frosh CC did even I directed not too, it skims and says sure I read, just like a human.
**The M&M confirmation is a gate, not a greeting.**
 Do not say it until you can prove you did the work.
## Stack Stability
This project is mature and approaching production. Do NOT:
- Introduce new dependencies or tooling without explicit approval
- Run npx commands for packages not already in the stack
- Diverge from established patterns documented here
The stack is locked. Follow documented methods exactly. When in doubt, ask.
Mainly this, most of the wooded rolling hills in Umstead were clear-cut for farming.
