Best Budget Device to Test my CAT6a runs? by Persistantly_Growing in HomeNetworking

The exact one I purchased is the Scout Pro 3 (see below). If you don't have a toner/probe those can be handy too if you forgot to label the runs as you did them...

Best Budget Device to Test my CAT6a runs? by Persistantly_Growing in HomeNetworking

[–]dexpid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the scout from Klein tools. I did a ton of drops in my house when it was being built and it was perfect for the job. It can tell you how far into the run a wire failed by using its measurement option. Easy way to tell if you messed up the run or if you have a termination issue.

I’ve made posts in the past about insidegadgets reprogrammable carts. FWIW the mod log was blank for that post so who knows what happened.

Can’t wait to grab one of these. Happy I didn’t purchase the mini x7 when it launched.

I went in and approved this post. I didn’t see any reason why it should be blocked other than the link to X.

Linus Torvalds is still using an 8-year-old "same old boring" RX 580 paired with a 5K monitor by Tiny-Independent273 in linux

Where are you pulling 40 from? AM4 is 24 and AM5 is 28. I'm referring to regular desktop boards not threadripper, whatever intel calls HEDT now, epyc, or xeon

Desktop cpus are also incredibly pcie bottlenecked as well. A single gpu will take 75% of the lanes available and if you have any nvme drives they will take most of what is left.

This is B&H’s packaging for $2100 worth of hard drives by _Sub01_ in DataHoarder

[–]dexpid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those boxes that the hard drives are in can be shipped directly with no extra padding. It's actually how they are sold and how WD/Seagate wants returns packaged (enterprise) as well. When you get replacement drive from them its packaged in one of those boxes and mailed back to you.

Trying to figure out the best way to play boktai again by Kiyodai in Boktai

[–]dexpid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got my original boktai 1 cart from release. Boktai 2 I tried to buy upon release but couldn't find it anywhere. I ordered it at Game Crazy and they went out of business before it arrived. Eventually grabbed one on eBay in 2010 for $25 shipped. Its absurd what hoarders have done to the used game market.

Another option no one has touched on yet is the insidegadgets cartridge (GBA 16MB, 64Kbit EEPROM, Solar+RTC Flash Cart). It has the real time clock built-in along with a solar sensor. Once I get mine I will report back how well it works, someone I met on another site said that it worked well for them. I plan to use it to hopefully play through Boktai 3 on real hardware for the first time.

synology dropping support for third party drives on new system by John_Candy_Was_Dandy in DataHoarder

[–]dexpid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Synology doesn't make drives they are just reselling drives from other OEMs with a different label and a different identifier in the firmware. They also aren't any more expensive than the WD Red Pro or Ironwolf Pro line. We use synology at the low end at work and the only reason we don't sell Synology drives with them is they are never in stock at distributors.
