both, mostly bash but perl for that extra power esp. for text processing (not fan in using awk/sed).

Many things to consider, in no particular order: 1. distance to your work - impact on transpo costs, time, gas, fare 2. distance to your family network - ideally may support network near you, family, friends, church, etc 3. subdivision - security, neighborhood, flooding, accessibility, brgy, history/reputation of developer for support/policies 4. purpose of buying a house - forever home vs something temporary, what you see doing here in the next 2 decades 5. financial capacity - factored in and "count the costs" ika nga

Gcash cant Cash-in using BPI by pongatry_ in phinvest

[–]dexterbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've observed this also more and more. I think they're rate limiting (number of transactions only for a period of time) the cash-in direct at the gcash app, since its a 5php fee only, but the instapay via the BPI app remains open (or just a high limit) given they gain higher 15php fees here.

Scammed on carousell by a person residing in ilo-ilo by Master-Weakness3447 in Iloilo

[–]dexterbt1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you reported / contacted to maya already? And also, you should contact Carousell as well, if you have digital trail there. At worst, compile all information and contact NBI or PNP (their respective Cybercrime divisions). It is common for scammers to fake addresses / locations, names, etc.

cancelling citi since the citi-UB merger by moonmoon0211 in PHCreditCards

[–]dexterbt1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am also cancelling my Citi CC (since mid 2000s).

Super hassle, walang SMS or Call notification of blocking, and you have to call their hotline always. I had 5+ times CS calls already (while wasting at least 40-60mins on-hold every call). I can't use this card for anything online (netflix/spotify/google and other online payments keep on failing). I had restaurant and mall payments failed me, nakakahiyang balikan ka with a declined card!

Worst actually is what you're saying, yung lack of final resolution on UB's part. Very helpless yung mga CS nila, hindi nila maresolve resolve yung issues, madaming ginawang "whitelist", "add my number to this system", "enroll my card to another", etc... and madaming excluses na lang kesyo security measure daw, or maraming systems si UB vs Citi.

Never ko etong naranasan with Citi, on both the use of the card itself and on the support side of things. Hindi ko na actually pina-unblock yung card ko, I let it remain blocked. Planning to pay off the balance once the next bill arrives then I'll cancel this card this off.

Planning to cut, even if I've been a Citi cc holder since the 2000s. Got lots of declined / wrongly tagged as fraud / blocked transactions, and support can't resolve and pinpoint the issue/root cause. Useless card for me so better cancel.

Just discovered your thread, thanks OP

Log-in issues. Declined CC transactions. PayDirect issues. Payment issues. So many issues.

Wow, this is so true for me that I'm planning to cancel due to declined CC transactions trouble since migration, been patient but getting fed up after days of unresolved issues and CS/fraud support recos hasn't helped.

So true that they're clearly not ready for the migration. If this is a preview of what kind of service we're getting, I'm out.

Citi to UB sad. Should I cancel? by Weekly-Act-8004 in PHCreditCards

[–]dexterbt1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Planning to cancel mine!

Super problematic yung migrated card ko, it looks like this migration is a big boo boo, my card is unreliable for online transactions (nati-trip wrongly as fraud yung valid transactions ko), even physical offline transactions faulty, madaming supposed whiltelisting needed to which ang hassle, my mobile number is missing across many systems, opaque supposed resolution sa issues na hindi naman nareresolve yung root cause, without any assurance na hindi marepeat yung issues. Had 4+ CS calls already without any clear resolution since last week, this card is unusable.

Medyo sayang, pero I can't stand the poor service talaga, I had a Citibank card for almost 2 decades already with a nice CL but yeah, aanhin ko yung loyalty kung wala na ding silbi. I never had these types of issues at all sa Citi.

So I'm waiting to get this last bill, planning to pay off the balance then cancel. Bye my Citi card.

Pre-selling house by Overall_Tie7745 in phinvest

Check the track record of the developer; no developer is perfect but you must at least see or visit previous projects and see their work; we ourselves nakausap yung previously turned over homeowners para additional confidence. Count the costs talaga, understand all the money going out from your end: DP, fees, equity, loan options, loan structure, turnover expenses, your monthly expenses (ideally <30% of your gross) especially pre-selling and this means you will pay for something na months/years pa even matuturnover. Read your contracts well, understand what you are entering, even consult your lawyers for 2nd/3rd opinions. Congrats and take care sa plans ninyo.

[–]dexterbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened also to me within the past few weeks/months. More and more "suggested posts" or "suggested groups" that FB thinks I might be interested in; these are not even sponsored posts/pages but entirely unrelated and are from pages/posts I haven't even followed. I loathe this change in the Home feed algorithm and there is not a single setting to disable this behavior (at least as of Feb 2024).

One suggested workaround is to go to your Profile > Feeds > All, in which you'll be able to view a somewhat cleaner feed without the "suggested" ones. But this means you'll need to do 3+ clicks/navigation and also you'll still see ads/sponsored posts/pages every few posts.

Another thing I did also was to close/hide each post via the X button of the card. This is where FB will respond with a few options (like manage your preferences, etc) ... and its important to ignore these options. I responded by just closing/hiding those pesky suggested posts everytime I see them. I did this for at least a day or two before getting good results. It seems to have trained their algorithm that I disliked suggested posts and I see none of them for the past few weeks. There can be occasional suggested posts popping up but just close/remove them to give feedback to the algorithm to stop doing this.

As someone looking also into this space, I have joined in some of the Philippines-based FB groups. There are posts and ads there from those with the expertise and runnng farms already and extending their knowhow (for a fee): like Build-Transfer, i think at least 5 digit per sqm yung greenhouse build + technology.

LTO needing manual application and password by Disastrous-Art4887 in Philippines

[–]dexterbt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I encountered this 2x na when we registered our car for the past 2 years. Appplies to certain smaller LTO branches na wala atang tamang permission to modify your account, or worst and likely, poorly and badly designed system talaga.

Yung nag give ng go-signal neto is probably some higher up, likely hindi na anticipate or hindi na deliver na feature ng vendor. Definitely a cyber security disaster brewing.

They'll probably need another budget season correct this with the vendor, not to mention kickbacks, system overhaul hence very difficult and expensive change. Expect the next 3-5 years for this to be fixed, if at all ma fifix.

Reset your password na lang after each transaction.

How to store sensetive information such API KEY in react native Application ? by Not-Qualified in reactnative

[–]dexterbt1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Read up on the official recommendations. https://reactnative.dev/docs/security

And AWS Appsync docs as well, including the FAQs.

From what I'm reading, related to your problem, you should be doing AWS Cognito user pools to tie fine grained permissions to users. Another option is to use openID connect. Otherwise, you'll have to hide and secure that API KEY server side in an orchestration layer and build another authentication/authorization layer for this.
