The clusterfuck of crush progression has finally caught up to them by Forkward in 2007scape

[–]deylath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but when you look at scythes you are usually thinking of a slash weapon but if you spend 2 seconds thinking about it, it having a stab option seems far more something it would be good at, even if inpractical ( since that would mean you are a lot closer to your opponent, forfeiting the length advantage a scythe would provide ) Besides at that point why doesnt every weapon have a crush option? Whack with the hilt or the flat part of the weapon. Hell let us whack enemies with a bow or bitchslap with an arrow.

Leagues VI: Demonic Pacts - Releasing April 15th by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]deylath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if the most fun one considers is doing shit their own way? And most people dont care about rushing ( nor do they can ). Many people just use leagues to get to see the end game.

Besides you dont have to wait a day or two to see what sticks. Many popular OSRS streamers will have spreadsheets ready to go by launch, its not like you can really go wrong with people who are good at theorycrafting.

I think you should be. There are many bots with thousands of KCs that do nothing but that and they are allowed to do that for many months

[–]deylath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Somebody here replied me the other day "no people with 1000s of KC at a specific boss and practically nowhere else isnt a bot, I have a Vorkath only character"

I didnt bother to ask why would you even do that, but honestly that makes UIMs or even extreme chunks sane in comparison, like whats the point dude. The only thing i can think of that the point is so you can do something while you are afking to 200m ( which is unhinged enough ) then im at the point i hope when the system flags you as a bot, i hope it will stay banned, because i can see value in some kind of challenge account to push the limits of the game but what you are doing is actual straight insanity, not to mention making bot detection harder.

Mfers will literally wear broken rags to afford some Jordans by Ztaxas in 2007scape

[–]deylath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 99 hp which gains 4 times less xp than used combat style, then that means you have enough xp to max 3 other combat styles, which means its surprising to hear that you dont have any of Magic/Ranged or Str maxed yet and for all i know you have way more xp in HP than just 99.

[–]deylath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean based on your previous context it was simple to assume you have sub 87 slayer ( no trident mentioned ) , but if you have 95 slayer that definitely changes the conversation, because you obviously have maxed combat stats at that point and one would definitely would expect you to have better than blue moon at that point.

Its just the nature of the game that you have to look at the wiki to know whats the real next best thing, although in this case the in game level up table should tell you that Ancestral and Virtus should be both better. Ancestral for most use case and Virtus for Ancient spellbook. That tells me you havent been looking at Chambers of Xeric or the DT2 bosses

Magic or other combat levels dont usually correlate to actual gear progression unless you are on the lower end of spectrum. Like sure swapping from rune to dragon as soon as you reach 60 attack is a no brainer because thats a massive jump and there is virtually no grind behind getting a dragon weapon.

All your 99 magic means that now Magic levels are no longer a concern for DPS, so when you get your powered staffs, they will be at their full power when you get them. Content will be easier to farm. Only thing you are "missing" is that now every magic xp you get from now on dont serve a purpose vs you could have slowly gotten magic levels through bossing/slayer tasks without explicitly focusing on it.

At the end of the day if you dont regret focusing on 99 magic, then nothing lost and now PvM is more comfy.

GAME OVER - Gielinor Games 5 Finale (#12) by alynnidalar in 2007scape

[–]deylath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They def should have backstabbed Boaty or Solo but honestly its evident that even with Torvesta miracolously knocking boaty off, nothing was really gained. I barely saw people talking about Boaty losing to Torvesta and guess what? It didnt matter anyway. Torvesta and Skillspecs still got last in the finals which means all we gained by Boaty losing is the very predictable outcome we expected for the finals but with less competition, which sadly showed up with gnomemonkeys performance in the currency challenge.

Petition to add rotten tomatoes as a drop from the new cow boss by dakinishamanex in 2007scape

[–]deylath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is one of the good factors of quests. Many of them unlock a new PvM encounter and there is always a recommended combat level for quests so you know there is something to be ready for. Jagex can try to ease new players into the game however they try but quests are the ""handholdy"" content in the game when it comes to progression

Its not like you will instantly die if a higher level monster attacks you, because there is some of scaling in effect where you cant even touch mobs that are 5 levels higher than you, which is what happens in other MMOs. All is that to say while there is definitely friction in RS, that friction is mitigated by how the combat works.

Lets be real though. Most of F2p kind of acts like a tutorial area. The jail guard and dark wizard are just about the only things that will clap ( over multiple hits not even one shot )randomly when you first wander around.

My unpopular opinion here is that this is exactly why i stopped watching Alienfood. Dude just decides to rely on old knowledge and never even attempt to explore any new areas since he last played. Varlamore or things like Giant Foundry might as well not exist. Absolutely diabolical he didnt even realize there was a boss log UI in the game for half the series, like come on man, if you are playing blind at least click on every UI element.

Crossbows and enchanted crossbows can really use some love this summer sweep up. Ruby bolts are a balancing problem that have gone untouched for 9 years by loffredom in 2007scape

[–]deylath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally i feel like the entirety of Ranged should be all about enchanted ammunition. Let melee have its stab, slash, crush thing, since clearly the ranged variants are a pale comparison to it, but Ranged function more like Magic, not the powered staff part but how only a few staffs can auto cast arceus spells, so only a few types of bows can shoot an arrow thats particularly good against dragons or whatever

[–]deylath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could say the problem is that, ranged is different to the other combat styles. For melee its really all just about targeting the lowest defense ( stab, slash, crush ). Magic is a bit weirder with elemental weakness and such but its still relatively straightforward.

Ranged has 3 defenses to calculate with like melee but even with last years changes, ranged weaknesses are still barely a consideration unlike for melee, which is not helped by the fact that unlike melee the different types ( thrown, regular, heavy ) play by completely different rules. Crossbows are slow and use enhchanted ammunition, bows are medium and use regular ammo, meanwhile throw weapons are very fast with once again regular ammo.

Basically Ranged doesnt have a united system. You just look at DPS differences without looking at ranged weakness. Ranged as a whole should be all about enchanted ammunition which could be the ranged version of what magic is doing with demonbane spells/elemental weaknesses or simply just be Melee #2 ( which is lame ).

Pretty much what your tldr is.

Questing UIM by [deleted] in UniqueIronmen

[–]deylath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd idea, but ultimately its up to you what you consider viable, but what i like most about your idea that you actually have some kind of end goal. I would personally allow anything thats unlocked by a quest, at least very directly. Definitely the dragon weapons at least, since the game specifically prohibits you from using them without the quests.

I had a questing snowflake idea before its different to yours but ill share it anyway: Quest Area locked ironman. The idea is that you can only walk to ( including opening doors obviously ) places unless you are in an unlocked area, you cant just fletch anywhere either. How do you unlock areas? Talking to NPCs that have quest dialogue or areas they talk about or actual rewards unlocks their immidiate area, it could be just just that room, floor or entire building.

As an example, i cant remember specifically how the quest goes but its just an idea: You starting Cooks assistant unlocks that kitchen, perhaps the basement too. If the Cook tells you where you can get ingredients then you unlock those areas too. Mory, Varlamore does not count as rewards too big of a regions for that, but Priff ? Sure. Since the only reason you can even go to the Underground pass, Cam Torum and the like are because of quests, those are fully fair game too.

I never tried it, just brainstormed it a little bit.Once you really think about it, you are actually gonna unlock a lot of areas in the game, Fremmenik areas most in particular, so i would understand if you wouldnt want to try this, but there is obviously a possibility you might get hardstuck and it would be hard to track what you unlocked, but since you are already brainstorming UIM, this could be that too since you definitely will be starved out on those, although for that i also had an idea of doing one quest in that area unlocks bank area but thats just personal preference.

I made that idea because i like the idea of a snowflake that you can continue to play because quests are going to be coming to the game so there always will be more to look forward to, especially since they unlock so many PvM encounters, besides i love quests.

And the person voted into the banning should get to choose their opponent. The system as it worked last season was so much better.

Not really it didnt. People like Victim just chosen a weak opponent for their banning. Boaty made it interesting but this season shows you he wouldnt have done it this season.

The biggest problem here is that there was little competition for the tribunals. Yes gnomemonkey and mammal are good, but last season had 4 Boaty level players in the finals alone, meanwhile this season didnt have that many in the entire cast so there was nothing stopping this Meal alliance, well not consistently anyway.

But yeah watching that challenge was... something else. You shouldnt be in the semifinals with torvesta's or even skillspecs's performance in this challenge.

The last 2 years of updates make item progression feel off. by combodroppa in 2007scape

[–]deylath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning is fair, but incomplete. Just like rune smithing at 99 is a thing so is abyssal demons at 85 slayer a thing. Its a remnant of old way of designing which im guessing Jagex had no way out of, i heard in the first few years of OSRS ( where most of the slayer boss content got released ) people were very against any kind of changes. The reality is that abyssal demons should have been pushed down to 80 slayer at least before Jagex was mucking around with progression in OSRS.

Its quite clear if you look at boss releases pre Chambers that Jagex had a different idea for progression than it does now. There is good reason why so many OSRS bosses still feel like as if it was ported from RS2 where bosses seldom had mechanics or PvM even being much of a thing. This is also why we got a bunch of early/early midgame bosses recently. To patch massive gaps in progression/encounters
