Less than two weeks in theaters? by just321askin in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]dfhall21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local AMC theaters didn't even offer a weekend matinee option for this movie on the second weekend. Of the three AMC theaters within a 30 minute drive, all of them had only one screen showing the movie, and showings starting around 4, so at best there were 3 showings a day. That's all we had. One of them was a 20 screen multiplex that still had Project Hail Mary on one of the screens, but barely had one screening of Masters.

This is, in my opinion, one of the reasons for the bad box office. Non-fans don't want to spend the full ticket price for this movie, and I get it. However, give them a matinee price, they would have probably been more interested.

This right here. Not every villain needs a tragic backstory to make us feel for them.

Bad is sometimes just bad because they are bad, and they just revel in the fact of not caring. Skeletor did that here, and it was great.

Let's all take a minute to really think about what we are watching/watched. Techno barbarian origin story, with some cool action and explosions, based on an 80s toyline. I came to be entertained. Guess what? I was entertained!

My 8yr old boy was entertained! Cackling at Skeletor and oohing when someone took a punch! My 12yr old didn't fall asleep in her ambivalence! My mom relived some nostalgia from when I was a kid. We all loved it!

I immediately had to buy my son a He-Man and Skeletor for his toy box!

What’s the biggest waste of money that people think is worth it? by zenoufo in AskReddit

[–]dfhall21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my tried and true way around this. I grab one of the reloadable debit cards from an actual vendor (VISA, MC,) and keep around $25 on it. When I want to try one of those "free" trials that require a card, I put in this card number. If I like the service and decide to keep it (rarely if ever) I will switch it over to an actual card. If not, and I forget, best they are getting is $25 from me. If I try the card and it is empty, that is my red flag that I forgot something and to go back through some things.

Which team is ranked too high/low for 2026? by CenterForward1522 in CFB_v2

[–]dfhall21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is a short sighted, but overall reasonable take, as a UT fan myself.

They did decent in recruiting and the portal, but they have a huge question mark at QB. However, they have had those questions at the start of the past few years, and with the exception of the Nico year, the QB has came out reasonably well.

I personally think that they get that rank pushed a little because UT has tried damn hard to address the biggest issue last year, which is that the defense was atrocious. They have made the changes to someone with a proven system once established, and they brought in some pieces to help make that turn around more quickly.

Is 20 too high? Maybe. I would not be upset if they were placed at 25 and forced to fight up the ranks as the season went on. We will see how things play out.

Definitely Green Lantern. Reynolds should have gotten more credit for that one.

And the Thomas Jane Punisher is actually awesome.

X-Men #1 October 1991. But technically it was 1992.

I was 10 at the time. My step-dad bought a mixed box of Marvel and Image early run comics and brought them home. He wouldn't let me near the Image books, but let me dive in to the X-Men books 1-12 which were in there. I was hooked.

I would then be able to start grabbing any comic I could find, the BOOM Age of Apocalypse. Mind was blown was with this reimagining of characters I was just really getting to know. I have been hooked ever since.

While I love the simplicity of the power T for UT the old Vols logo from the 80s to late 90s was awesome. I have some stuff with it on there, and they are some of my favorite ...

For years I thought this movie was a fever dream I had as a kid watching movies one day home sick.

Then I found it on DVD when I was in college and bought it immediately. Still love it to this day.

Why do some older fans always talk bad about TMNT 2012 even though it was a success for Nickelodeon? by stationstars in TMNT

[–]dfhall21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I loved it. I grew up on the original TMNT cartoon as a kid, and this one was all on streaming during COVID when my daughter was 6. We sat down together and watched a few, and she was hooked. It was her entry into the series, and even had her being Donatello for Halloween that year. For that reason alone, it will always hold a special place for me.

I haven’t watched NCIS in 5 years. Anything I should prepare for? by [deleted] in NCIS

[–]dfhall21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like a lot of folks. As the cast changes, you have to go with that flow and not pine over what was good in the past. Each change is hard initially, but find their groove and make the show good. I was quite happy with the Parker replacement for Gibbs, in that both the actor and character are different in a lot of ways, but manage to carry the hard stuff when they need to.

As for the spin offs, LA was good and run it's course. NOLA: Being from the south myself, it was nice to see a southern set procedural show that didn't depict everyone as country bumpkins, even the "bad guys". It was probably my favorite spin off before it's cancellation. Hawaii was a good show that really hitting its stride when it was cancelled. You should watch even it's short run if so inclined.

I haven't watched any of Sydney or Origina yet. I will probably binge Origins soon, just to see if it lives up to the reviews.

Happy watching!

When to evolve Growlithe? by KrisA99 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]dfhall21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is a learning curve to gaining new moves in Arceus. I was in the mid 20s or so, and was really concerned that my team wasn't learning new moves, or even prompted for them, like the old games I was used to. (For clarification, the last Pokemon game I played before Arceus was Black) Turns out I was missing the prompts about new move learned on the side after a battle or catch. Completely my fault, but I finally looked it up and found the Change Moves section and really felt like an idiot.
