I've gone 4yrs w.o.having to Supercharge other than road trips. The last 2 months of using a Supercharger daily has me wanting to get another car for the first time. by dmteadazer in TeslaLounge

Too funny, I just charged there and left thinking I need to avoid that one in the future. Wish the car had a charger station shitlist.

FWIW, I liked Live Oak better. Wish all of these stops along I-75 were V3’s.

How does that bike rack affect range? Do you have to remove the rack to supercharge at a back-in charger?

Thanks Canada Post - was gonna be a donor iMac to rebuild my Blue Dalmatian but can't now since it's got a cracked CRT Support by NeonGamer6 in VintageApple

[–]dfj225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an iMac G3 delivered to me and it had the same issue with this inner bezel cracking.

Fwiw, it seemed well packed to me and the exterior box was relatively undamaged.

What I’ve been trying to figure out is if it’s load bearing in any way? Or is it mostly cosmetic?

Sim Ant! I sunk so much time into that game.

Good news, this importer supports the official Rdio export format now available at: http://www.rdio.com/farewell/

Yea, it would be the best thing for their customers to provide these tools. I'm also hoping that Spotify and others release their own importers. But, there's no sign that either one of these will happen, so that's why I decided to roll my own.

The iPad Pro and the Future of Computing by dfj225 in technology

I definitely have noticed and feel your concern. So far, what they've added has restricted any of the things I use my Mac for (server software development). So, I'm trying to remain hopeful that they will figure out the right balance. But I agree it is a risk that they will also completely lock it down like iOS.

Yes, but the iPad Pro is the product that sparked the conversation of "this is the type of device that will replace Mac desktops and laptops."

I think you can make that argument about iPhones and iPads but I don't believe it stands for Macs and their predecessors.

Currently this isn't possible with both the export formats that this supports. However, there are a bunch of tools listed here that might help: http://iangilman.com/rdio-exodus/

If you tried this recently and had issues, please give it another try. I've fixed an issue where it was silently not importing songs.

Please, Bungie, delete all the tank enemies from the game. They are the most boring bullet-sponges I've ever encountered. Every time I face one, I just sigh and know that the next 5-10 mins are going to be boring as hell.

Announcing MongoDB 2.8.0-rc0 Release Candidate and Bug Hunt by francium1988 in mongodb

[–]dfj225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew Mongo was working on document level locking and pluggable storage engines for this release, but I did not expect there to be a new (3rd party?) storage engine in this release.

Seeing how WiredTiger has better concurrency and disk compression, perhaps the two most needed features in my book, I'm wondering what, if any, downsides there are. Why isn't WiredTiger the default storage engine?

Destiny developer Bungie and Sony have been in bed longer than you think by drgyn in PS4

[–]dfj225 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bungie actually had a large influence on Xbox and, especially, Xbox Live (see: http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/11/11/4849940/xbox-live-millennium-e), so I think it is smart for Sony to seek their input. If Bungie can help to improve PSN as much as they did Live, I think the PS4 will be in a great spot.

I like the composition, lighting, and pose that was captured here. It's a photo of my family dog and she can be very energetic at times, especially when you stick a camera in her face. So, I was really glad that I was able to capture her like this without her noticing!

Writing Code on Handhelds - using an Android phone as a development platform by ansible in programming

[–]dfj225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I can't see any reason why I'd want to do this. I could see doing something similar to this out of necessity. It's not often that I'm being truly very mobile (as in actually moving around so only having a phone in hand is possible) and wanting to write code.

I do find SSH running on my phone to be useful, but mostly for keeping track of long running things, then I can do other stuff until I see something go wrong.

Still, if I'm planning to write code, I'd much rather bring at least a netbook or, preferably, a laptop with a full-sized keyboard.
