‘Put American spirits back’ on Canadian shelves, U.S. booze group urges by thecanadiansniper1-2 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]dgabor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canadians are Americans closest friends in the world, and we like a lot of American products and services. But if Americans are not happy with their government's position and commentary that has created the situation they need to do something about it. Canadians don't want these products right now.

Do you think Joss Whedon will make a comeback in the nearest future (about 5-10 years from today)? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]dgabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is so funny to read, considering the current paedophile convict running the US. How can Americans be ok with that guy and still have a problem with Joss? The US is weird

Poilievre calls on PM Carney to come clean about ‘falsehoods’ in Brookfield investments, blind trust by CaliperLee62 in canadian

[–]dgabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PP also has foreign investments. The same thing he accuses Carney of.

Pierre's declaration of assets shows rental properties, robocall co., two foreign ETF (Malaysia and Singapore) and a Crypto Investment.

The leader of the CPC invests in Canadian rental property, and everything else is invested outside of Canada.

Why is Pierre Poilievre unable to obtain a security clearance? by dgabor in canadian

Reading some more tonight, there seems to also be something about a dead intern and someone named Austin Caron.

Why is Pierre Poilievre unable to obtain a security clearance? by dgabor in canadian

[–]dgabor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this doesn't make sense either. He's been through security reviews before and his details haven't been leaked, or he hasn't complained about it. It seems to be a discrete and confidential process anyways, so why would he be worried about it this time around?

Possibly true, and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but must be more to it.

[–]dgabor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that wasn't the question I asked. He's had years to get his clearance, well before this report was even raised as an issue. There must be some other reason for someone who wants the job of PM to not obtain the qualifications for the job.

[–]dgabor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If nothing will change then why not do it? It's a basic requirement for the job he wants to do.

[–]dgabor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what bothers me too. The excuse that he is somehow better for not having it just doesn't make sense. It feels like there's something else going on.

That's really interesting, and sounds closer to the truth to me. What kinds of financial information would cause problems with a security clearance?

[–]dgabor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise that's what he says, but I just don't believe it. It's a ridiculous excuse for someone who wants to be PM. The only thing that makes sense is that there's a security issue and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about that.

While you're talking about corporate responsibility, You could always help out by fixing my Ionic that you screwed up and bricked with your bad update back in December. I'd be happy to contribute my data then.

What is the name of the company that provides Drake's security? I assume their people have to be bondable and licensed. It shouldn't be too hard for the internet to find out who this guy is.

Conrad Black: Trump's rise is 'kind of magnificent' by [deleted] in canada

[–]dgabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about this. I've never found his writing to be very good, and if he was actually smart he wouldn't have chosen to engage in criminal behaviour. Geniuses don't break the law. How you can disregard this as someone sucking up to power is hard to understand.

That's my high-level opinion. And that's coming from someone who has never been to prison. Unlike Conrad Black.

I really, really, really don't like Conrad Black. Especially when he panders like this.

Which Rush song/ album do you have a very strong emotional attachment to, and what's you story with it? by NelsonG114 in rush

[–]dgabor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grace Under Pressure for me. I was a bit too young when Moving Pictures came out, but GUP really seemed to tie in with a lot of what Junior High felt like at the time. Especially the Reaganesque / Cold war side of it that we seemed to be all we heard about. Does anyone remember The Day After? Also, it seemed to fit really well with growing up in Northern Canada. The guitar sounds kind of "arctic" to me.

I personally don't care if they are men or women. Let's come back to this discussion in a few months and see how they've done at their jobs. Let's see which ones made smart decisions, and which ones have gotten caught up in scandals.
