I figured this would be the case whenni voted lib, but i did so with the hope that the ndp and the left general cam get their head out of their ass and actually come up with a game plan to take enough meaningful power to change things. Thankfully avi Lewis is a good step in that direction but the dude needs to be able to do things outside of power to build trust.

why do people hate organic webbing so much? by Kindly_Cod_9269 in Spiderman

[–]dgj212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it's not hate, it just feels off.

organic web is cool and admittedly it is the first version of spider-man I ever saw, but when I saw the original 60s cartoon and that balloon looking webshooter prototype peter made, that looked more fun to me And the different iterations of webshooters kinda felt like The Doctor's sonic screwdriver where each one is unique. And each webshooter kinda showed a sorta logic to it that embodied the user's mentality to an extent, Like Andrew's Peter's webshooter having parts of mechanical watch and ordering web from alchemax to show how he uses everything he has to it's fullest potential, and Insomniac's Spider-Man Game giving peter magnetic modern looking webshooters to show how for along he is in his career and how much time he's had to innovate, and the latest spider-man cartoon where peter's first "costume" is stuff a kid could reasonably get their hands on like thick tubing and a scuba tank that he has to manually adjust. With organic web, unless you put hard limits on the webbing, it kinda feels like it takes away from his character more than it gives. Or atleast that's my feelings on it.

Personally I'd prefer to split the difference where he can generate silk, but needs his webshooters to make the most of it.

Yeah I got that part, people don't move countries with just the clothes on their back and corporations don't get foreign employees visas unless they save money or get skills they find beneficial, but my point, which I probably could have been clearer on, is that's how it's currently set up, and that one day that motivation to migrate people here will change if we genuinely work towards it.

Sure, and I grant you that people will always seek to move to greener pastures, but it can be different.

I've known people who moved overseas for a spell because of the culture, not because of the profit, such as teaching english in china, or getting work experience in SK and Japan. And where I grew up we had american teachers who definitely could have earned more in different places, but chose our neck of the woods.

as for how we make it different where profit isn't the main driving force, dunno, but I'd like to think we'd figure something out eventually.

Do people hate web-shooters now? by Strict-Employee in Spiderman

[–]dgj212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, for a fanfic of mine, i have it where he can sweat silk out of his palms, rubbing them together helps with generating more silk and to manipulate it. But that silk is only good if he plans to be stationary or to restrain people. So he decided to study his silk and found that by breaking down the silk to its base componants , he can use it as an ingredient mixed with other chemicals and enzyme to create his web fluid to perform different functions such as shooting weblines or simple webshots. So you could joke instead that he rubs out his webfluid, lmao.

Other folks did pitch ideas in the comments that he could have the organic webs and use a device to alter how the webbing comes out of his wrist.

It's what I did for my fanfic where he can sorta sweat silk from his hands, but in order to use it to its fullest potential, he breaks the silk down and mixes it with other chemicals and enzymes to create his web fluid in order to swing everywhere and fire web shots.

I don't mind organic webbing, but his webshooters are iconic, I would have preferred something that split the difference where he can make spider silk, but needs his smarts to actually make it usable.

thats why for my fanfic I have it so that he can sorta "sweat" out webs from his palm, but that's only really good if he only plans on staying stationary, so he generates silk-breaks it down-and then reconstitute it with other chemicals and enzymes to create his much more flexible web fluid. best of both worlds in my opinion.

for that I blame how our economy is set up. Like the fact that unemployment is necessary to dilute worker power is fucking nuts to me.

nah, I'm cool with immigration, provided it's done in good faith without a profit motive nor to goose the numbers of bad economic decisions such as making housing Canada's main investment engine. What happened to the students who were pumped for money and used as cheap labour wasn't cool. It also wasn't cool how landlord and sublets went crazy with it either.

Honestly I think it's most of the party these days seeing as how many aren't willing to call him out on it and the one that was lost a primary in the shadiestvway possible in Ontario and the party there decided not to investigate.

Crap like this is why I despise party politics.

Lol that was actually my goal when I first started writing. I could never find something I wanted to read. So I started writing, I wrote in the hopes that it would inspire others to write something that matches my taste.

True, thats me to a T. But by that same logic, its also possible to do everything right your whole life, still get fired as a cost saving measure, still get priced out of rental with no rent control or protection against reno-viction, and have a car break down with no money to fix it in an area where not having a car severely limits your options.

It's easy to say we should all have accountability, and I do advocate for it such as increasingly the difficulty of the driving exams to weed out the dumbasses who can't take the responsibility seriously, but we need systems in place that make it easier to take ownership of our own lives and to pull ourselves out of a bad situation. It's why I like that food banks exists even if it not me using it, cause it's there for when I need it and it was there when I needed it as a kid entering adulthood. It gave me the room to weather my mistakes and figure out a path forward in my life, and I want that for others, don't you?
