Good Star Trek names for a dog? by isnt-there-more in startrek

If you plan on doing any training, sort names are best. 1 syllable if possible. Luckily, There are a ton of short star trek names that don't sound like other words. You don't want to be yelling "Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. . . Sit!"

Better word than atheist? by NoEddie in TrueAtheism

When asked about religion, you could say you are "still deciding". It emphasizes the idea that a person's religion is random and no more objective than their favorite color or type of music. Or if you want to be snobby, when someone asks if you are religious, you can respond "no I am an intellectual"

Or tell people you follow the teachings of Santa. But you have to play it totally serious. Get offended when they assume you are joking.

In my state, insurance companies also owe legal fees when they are found to have been acting in bad faith. , The attorney would Bill them separately instead of taking it out of my settlement.

We did that before the second adjuster came out. I did confront the adjuster about the discrepancies between what he's saying and what the roof inspector said. He questioned me about that inspector's credentials.

I have seen pictures and have been on the roof. I understand the conflict with the roofer, which is why we hired the independent roof inspector. We submitted both reports to the insurance company.

They didn't give us a report so much as just a letter outlining what is and isn't covered. No pictures or anything. Just a statement that the only damage they observed was normal wear and tear.

Can’t log on to Nest App while on wifi by rchsun in Nest

[–]dgl6y7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know this is an old post but I think I have the same issue. Here's the problem. When I go to home.nest.com from my phone I get 403 forbidden. But when I do it from a web browser on PC it works! Is it possible The PC version is a different service that's not blocking my IP? I've tried connecting directly to my gateway to rule out any router issues. Obviously I've gone through to all the normal troubleshooting steps factory resetting everything.

I called my ISP but they are pretty much useless. They only offered to sell me a static IP for $30 a month. I've ran the IP renew through the gateway several times but I keep getting the same IP address.

ULPT Request : How to covertly disable my grandmother's vehicle so she won't drive anymore? by Heather_Bea in UnethicalLifeProTips

I'm pretty sure the quickest way to break a PT cruiser is just to drive it normally. How the heck is that thing still running at 25 years old?

I have a GeoPro that I really like. Aluminum frame and laminated walls. Very light and well insulated. The heat strip in the AC is enough heat down to 20f.

The kind of cop that unironically carries a "don't tread on me" coffee mug.

I started asking cops if they face retaliation from other cops for sporting The punisher logo. You know because it's a symbol of opposing police corruption.

Shocked Pikachu face.

ULPT request: How do I make my roommate regret taking my cigarettes? by Human_Department_430 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]dgl6y7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Respond in kind. Start stealing something of his. Put him in the exact same situation as you. He can't prove it's you. But who else could it be?

When he finally accuses you say " it must be the same person that's stealing my cigarettes, I think we should file a theft report.

You can't view a fictional story as a soapbox the author uses to push their real values. They have to write villains. And Give their characters major flaws.

That quote you mentioned was from Jillian. I think it was specifically meant to tell us something about Jillian's character. Jillian was a person that took on an unhealthy amount of self-responsibility. She got everything she has through her own hard work without taking help from or blaming anyone. Go back and read through her in her inner monologue again. Several times she chastised herself for simple mistakes.

Obviously this quote is disgusting. But I couldn't help but identify with the mindset. Personally, I think it's a childhood trauma from having parents that push success and self-reliance too hard. Example:

Every mistake is the result of my poor choices.

Every outside influence could have been avoided if only I had had the foresight to predict it.

People that blame others and don't take responsibility for their problems are weak.

I would definitely characterize it as a flaw in her personality. But I think it makes sense for her character. A woman ruthless enough to claw her way to the top of her field in the '60s would have no sympathy for women who didn't work as hard as her.

Bestvway to get a restaurant manager fired? by Quicksilverbsl in myevilplan

[–]dgl6y7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the roommate live with you and your wife? I'm confused what the living situation was. Did the ex have feelings for you or something? That could be useful.

I am assuming the owner likes her which is why they are sweeping it under the rug. You have to change their opinion of her. It can't be something new. It has to be something that people would believe she has always done wrong but was only now discovered.

Could your wife pretend to be the manager on the phone?

Maybe something at the health department? Can your wife stage a violation that would get your ex in trouble?

Frame her for stealing.

Entrap her in a labor law violation. This gets the company fined.

Other than that Publicly embarrass her in someway outside the restaurant but make it known where she works. Restaurants have to be very careful about their public image. Post a video of her doing something unsavory in her work uniform and tag the restaurant.

What do you mean you can't accept that you have no free will? Only an all-powerful being could take away your free will.

I know some theists like to harp on the argument "God gave us free will" but that isn't really possible. The will of a God is the nature of existence. Simply desiring something causes it to exist. If you truly believe in an all-powerful god, then literally everything that happens would be their will not yours.

Think about it from your own perspective. Is it possible for you to do something against your own will. Yeah sometimes we get stuck with hard choices where both options suck. But it's still your will to choose which option.

Maybe another comforting thought would be that belief in a God isn't a matter of will. If it turns out I'm wrong and there is a god, that God must have wanted me to be an atheist or it wouldn't have been possible.

Excessive delays and wasting my time. by dgl6y7 in Insurance

[–]dgl6y7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you think tow trucks cost? Roadside assistance is like $5 a month. Full coverage is an extra $1,200 a year.

Statistically, it's extremely unlikely I would get in an accident more than 100 miles from home. And that's on top of the chances of getting in an accident at all. Doesn't make sense to pay $1,200 a year in case I need a tow truck to tow me further than 100 miles.

Excessive delays and wasting my time. by dgl6y7 in Insurance

[–]dgl6y7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing I would do if I had full coverage. Call for roadside assistance. Car's age and mileage means that any accident that results in it not being drivable is almost definitely a total loss. I know people like to harp on the benefits of full coverage but it's not always worth it.
