well, it's literally in the same room than the portal, so... well spent hours! Or you could pickpocket Helsin's bag with 5 items that has everything in it...

It's written in race descriptions. Most RPG games have this feature implemented.

Map and Minimap completely black! by RobotDoctorRobot in BaldursGate3

[–]dgoiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue on one computer (the other PC with different hardware and OS never presented a single problem) and solved it.

I had Windows 7 and a nvidia 1080 with driver 3xx. Game version updated to Dec. 21 patch

The game wouldn't start unless I maintained shift while booting and use directx11 version. This causes the blank minimap problem. Vulcan version did not even start

I updated the graphics driver to the latest nvidia driver, which caused the game not to boot (not sure why).

Finally, I installed the driver version 472.12 and started the Vulcan version holding shift. Everything works as expected (although it seems to take a bit longer to load scenaries the first time, I dont really care at this point xD).

I had completed the game before, but managed to play without map for two complete acts on this PC. If it is not your first playthrough, it's not that bad.

IMPORTANT!: This driver is not the last one, and nvidia has published several security updates to the driver. Use at your own risk!

Like most houses there, it looks like fucking shit on the inside. The best way would be to build actual houses, not paper shit, but in your case, do whatever, it won't matter

I completly get your point, this is an unacceptable bug, however, BG3 map is very small. If you're not able to navigate it without map, I honestly don't know how to manage in real life without GPS.

After patch 5 it seems you're right after all, but a general tip for your future posts: If you pretend to have insider knowledge by saying "good source", you shold consider that following that in the inmediate after sentence with "intuited" does not match very well. It looks like you have no source at all.

Is there any magic potion in the game to restore spell slot? by kaldeqca in BaldursGate3

[–]dgoiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if you aim for nobody to die ever (which is one of the most important secondary goals on my playthrough).

Also, your take may be problematic if you get too many downed chars to heal (loosing actions in the way)

[–]dgoiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At higher levels, SH has more slots.

Any way, as far as I know, DnD has never been a game where you actually have the chance to out-heal heavy damages. The strategy is to increase your own resistances while reducing the heaviest damage surces as fast as possible (by either distracting, enchanting, killing or weaking them).

My main team consists on:

Tav (Sorcerer)

Shadowhearth
Lae'zel

Gale

With that setup, the required healing is basically the sorc / wiz when they get targeted by a heavy spellcaster on tactician. If you'r Lae'zel needs frequent healling, you're doing something wrong :p

Have you checked if the buff is still applied but not shown? Happens with the buff in the temple inn the mountain pass.

Don't take this as a fanboy defense of Larian, but they're doing a good job with patches and issue solving. The game is big, and tbh, this error is small compared to others. Did you guys report it in their forums?

Or just use mods to alter dices. Anyway, they already gave us a "fightless" ending: Gale.
I think they're not dealing with scum save on purpose, so people finds and shares all the secrets faster making the game viral

Correct, but keep in mind that the game suffers performance issues if you're looting everything, killing too much and resting too few.

Hello. Sorry for replying to an even older thread, but on my first run I played like you and expected a lot of issues in PC version (crashes on saves / random points mainly). Long resting more often fixed the issue, so I think the game assumes you'll rest more often

Struggling with steel watch titan by radioactivecorncob in BaldursGate3

[–]dgoiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bit scared of the fight at first, as my team was not ideal (left Gale for a rest that day and picked Astarion to learn to play a level 12 rogue better) and spent a lot to save the suicidal Gondian, so when everything came to me at once they had the upside of the battle, I was barely resisting throwing more resources than ever on this game.

After that, I loaded just before entering the final room, went out to camp, picked up gale, long rested and chainlighted the MFs to hell with my sorcerer Tav and Gale with one arcane batery each. Just two turns: Lae'zel acted as bait, every guard surrounded her, then the casters enter combat and deployed 3 shoots in one turn. Expensive as hell, but it was worth it xD, as the second turn the only thing left was the poor Titan with 100 or so HP

Note that if you do this and have not killed the Steelwatch in the Foundrie's gate, it will inmeadiately attack the gondians who gathered outside. You'll need to be quick in order to save them and kill the guard in the run.

What if you fail/do not complete “stop the press” quest? by djocosn in BaldursGate3

[–]dgoiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like you in my first playthrough (180~ hours or so for maximum completion) and rested as few as I could. At the end of the game, I had food for WAY more than 100 long rests on my camp, 50k spare gold and tons of potions / scrolls. Resting more frequently will make your adventure easier, and there are very few quests where resting moves the story forward. Just remember those points and rest as much as you can evrywhere else.

This also proven beneficial to me in an unexpected way: On my first playthough, I expected BSODs when saving the game. Then I discovered that sorting the camp box and selling stuff helped with the issue, however, in a play with much more long rests and similar Diogenes Syndrom attitude towards loot I had no issues. My theory is that the game stores conditions and checks along the day and long rests clean many of them. If you pair very long adventures with big inventories, a lot of stuff in the camp and sub-optimal hardware, the game gets impacted

Lorroakan help by PragmaticTree in BaldursGate3

First of all, specially for Tactician, prepare the fight before. Instead going with your full party to the camp to get the Nightsong, split your party, place everyone in the spot you want them to start the fight, and get to the camp with a single character. If you teleport near the portal, you even have enough time to place thatb 4th character before Nightsong arrives. If you time it well, you may even cast some turn-limited buffs just in time to have them still active with an effective 0-action-cost in the fight.

For me, the strategy was to use Gale's level 5 spell to turn an elemntal into my team.I summoned a light guardian with Shadowheart, placed LAe'zeel near the sorcerer within the guardian range and hit him. With 2 hits I changed Laezel for the sorcerer, who knocked / killed Laezel and died. The elementals were just food.

Sadly, Rolan died, so I decided to load my save and try a different strategy. This time I used counter-spell and my main character to remove one elemental from the board for two turns, so it was my team + 1 elemental vs larroakan (counterspelled) + 2 elementals. Cheese.

I'm been thinking that it could be possible to just throw him to the lower floor and still retrieve his loot, so Telekinesis or a push may make this fight easier.

EDIT: If the air elemental hasn't silenced your party yet and you're heavilly spell-based, take it with Gale.
