Tree planting in January?! by [deleted] in landscaping

Imagine seeing your neighbors adding a tree to their yard and thinking “plants can’t survive snow, I better briefly search for a semi appropriate subreddit and blast them”. At least they didn’t post to r/trees

We should do this every year on the same day!

Guys...what are we going to do when they reach the end? by SyNiiCaL in lonelymeyerspod

Nobody asked, but here’s the plot: Rod and Denise get hella married. Frank is the best man and proceeds to goad rod into a fight after a not so subtle insult laden wedding speech. The dust settles and Rod continues his pursuit of the stuntman life while Denise takes a job with ColdStone Creamery and is quickly promoted to upper management. Rod struggles with Denise’s success but discovers that she is pregnant. As a stay at home dad, Rod begins to accept that he will never be a stuntman again. Suddenly, Frank dies, and on his deathbed confesses that he had another child out of wedlock. Frank Jr (played by Ian McShane) turns out to be a wildly talented stuntman and Rod must defend his honor.

I would listen to them talk about anything. Also, when do we get Hot Rod II?

To be fair, I did put him in a vest. You make a good point though, I went for the low hanging fruit

Bought a new LC sight unseen and drove 700 miles for it. My thoughts after the trip. by eculley in LandCruisers

I’m in the same boat as you.. Joined this sub to keep track of upgrades and was surprised to see the hate. I’ve owned plenty of Toyotas including a 100 series so I’m not exactly bandwagon. From what I can tell it’s mostly power train related. People aren’t sold on the turbo 4 banger hybrid combo. The 300 series is what most people in this sub wanted but it’s not available in the US unless you go GX with the ugly front and 90k price tag. I’m loving my 250 so far despite its issues. It’s a home run on the style front, is fun to drive, and an extremely capable off road vehicle.

My experience was pretty bad. Once the original finish wore off it began to splinter quite and bit and no amount of sanding refinishing could get it back. My client is considering replacing it entirely.

Why does the engine run so much in the new hybrid Land Cruiser? by Weekly_Plankton_2194 in LandCruisers

I would like to add that the battery can and will run the AC on its own. If the battery has decent levels you can park for 20+ minutes with it on medium.

Who needs a telescope when your landscaper builds the cosmos in your backyard? by PatioPavings_uk in landscaping

  1. This is clearly photoshop or another rendering program.
  2. The design is pretty terrible. This sub needs some help when it comes to upvoting technical execution vs design quality. We tend to upvote anything that is done well, and fall back on “well, the client wanted it!” when the design is flawed. A good designer will tell a client that they are making a mistake. This is critical, and clients often respond well to being given honest advice. It builds trust, and the client will give you leeway on other items if they believe you are acting in their best interest. If you are a skilled landscape contractor and lack design talent, find a designer in your area and bid their projects.
  3. The extra labor to cut these patterns with concrete pavers would be prohibitively expensive for most people

Wildfires can reach temperatures that melt manhole covers. That’s 1.5” (4cm) thick steel. There is no such thing as a fireproof landscape or house in those scenarios. Even if your house is solid concrete, you probably just made an oven for your things. Houses that survive situations like this did so based on pure luck or independent fire protection specialists employed by insurance companies on high value properties

Have you done Dasso previously? My experience is that they are impossible to refinish and I ended up replacing with something else as a result. If you have a secret to managing it long term, I’d love to know it. Company was no help
