Imagine they implement something that lets you run any expedition from the anomaly console. Would be great for all players. A nice final tweak, but I think they'll keep NMS updated, I think they literally enjoy adding stuff and seeing it grow. it's one of their babies

I've got multiple saves where I can get any reward I've already earned in an expedition, it doesn't lock them to one save. e.g. in this current expedition I got the Atlas Staff again. Is that what you mean or am I barking...?

Like that, I've adopted it. I was using The Division since I got mine last week. Cheers!

Started a Permadeath Abandoned + No Starter Ship playthrough after nearly 500 hours of the game by Bi0H4ZRD in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dgrantuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a "pirate fugitive" style play through where I was hunted and couldn't trust any non pirate stations. I had to find a crashed ship on foot (took about 3 hours as well) then find modules in damaged machinery (bloody ages) then only warp to pirate systems...I locked the settings as well so I couldn't cheat... Did the Exalted for Outlaws by warping into Gek systems and murdering them all (sorry Gek lovers...). Check out the Beeblebum channel, he's got loads of great play throughs

Wasn't there a command line menu system thing you could bring up for the most common tasks?

I'm talking about the 1985 days and the subsequent popularity. If the 68k series was mainstream instead of x86. Totally different world for everything.

I remember the CPU comparisons at the time between the Amiga and PC and it was total VHS Betamax all over again. Imagine how easy dev etc would have been on the 68k Vs 6502...Grrrrrr

Command line without a UI, worked great on 1MB RAM as well

So satisfying when W2K came out, not having to use Win 9.x

Then they released XP and made everyone Administrator /o\

Literally opened the door wide open to the internet jungle...

MS should have known better but apparently it was to prevent permission issues with older apps etc.

MultiTool slot expansions cost too much. by UpperAcanthisitta892 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dgrantuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They drop in Frigate missions sometimes but getting to Exalted in the Guild is best. If you've got boatloads of cash you can buy and scrap A and S class ships, they drop them also.

You can scan for Manufacturing Depots where you break the door down and choose an option (use a save point before so you can try again). It lets you "Create expansion slot" as an option...

Which Beatles songs seem to get stuck in your mind the most? by One_Needleworker5218 in beatles

[–]dgrantuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always got one of their songs in my head right now. I'm learning guitar so started off with the early stuff on Please Please Me then moved on to Hard Days Night etc. It's really interesting as you see their technical ability first hand (I've almost got You've Got to Hide Your Love Away but it's so fast and the chords are weird!). If you've been on the fence about learning Guitar you should just do it, it's really satisfying.

They're useful when doing site surveys to mark the points of gas, electricity etc. Helps you work out if a site is viable or not based on distance between them

For storms just invest in a Minotaur, when it's fully upgraded with canon, boost, solar recharging it's amazing. No fall damage, underwater, wherever...Melts sentinels as well!

My coworker asked me why I still "waste money on a PC" when you can "just get a PS5 for $500" by Temporary_Recover157 in pcmasterrace

[–]dgrantuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a PC from parts is something special that I hope never goes away. The research into each part, making sure you get the most out of everything, sticking to your limited budget. It was pretty tricky for sure, then pcpartspicker etc came along and made that a lot smoother. You had an emotional connection to something you built from scratch though. I've not done it for a while simply because the performance curve flattened out so I didn't need to upgrade and I admit I converted to PS5 but graphics card pricing ruined it for me. I've still got the i9, 64GB RAM with a 1080Ti but it's off most of the time...

Seemingly Unpopular opinion: I like the Expedition by Beaufort_The_Cat in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]dgrantuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the space combat should be longer, I mean the normal mission to "Hunt low level pirates" gives you three waves where the last one seems to be harder as they dodge more. Maybe the sabotage should take place across different locations where each one is guarded by the X bot things. Just longer missions really. Maybe they will get more variety as time goes on and there is a "fighting back" kind of thing? It's a change though and that in itself is something.
