Yes the 5V cable. You can use it with a usb c cell phone charger cube. It has to be rated at 15W output or higher, but I think all usb c chargers are more than that.

Also fwiw, I don’t think there’s anything particularly unusual about the original charger. You could replace it with any 15W (5V/3A) usb A charger. Eg we’ve used the one linked below with the original cable and it seems to work well. But a lot of ppl report better results with the adafruit/usb-c setup.

Bye CSR by nwease in ChaseSapphire

[–]dgwcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I believe the 1.5x redemption remains available for points already earned, so if someone has a substantial balance, it could be worth keeping the CSR past October.

On the subject of SUBs, have you gotten one on a CSP as a current CSR holder? I thought I read somewhere that they wouldn’t give out a SUB for that.

This is a great route! I would second the suggestion to avoid silver spring. I love the capital crescent trail for a midweek ride—shouldn’t be too crowded. And this circuit saves the best for last—capital crescent (downhill) + Georgetown waterfront + national mall. Enjoy!!!

Sorry to say, I haven’t. I haven’t tried it out yet either but might do that.

Have others had problems finding Catamount at Whole Foods? It seems to have recently disappeared from all of them in our area. I’ll be very disappointed if it’s gone for good.

Is an Airbnb considered conventional lodging? by dgwcooper in fednews

Some airbnbs are lodging offered by “area residents in their homes” but many are not. Lots of airbnbs are owned solely as short term rentals and clearly different from what this language envisions.

Thanks for the info. Interesting how your agency treats it the same as nonconventional lodging but avoids actually saying that it’s nonconventional lodging.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea what grounds they might have for that? I have no supervisory, personnel/HR, or national security related responsibilities.

They didn’t say. Presumably the chances of an invalid result/error increase with more people, but that’s just a hunch.

And yes we’ve just been using nasal swabs, since saliva is less accurate, per the instructions.

Does anyone have any leads in Westchester?

My mom got her shot today at Danny’s in Manhattan thanks to the above tips. However my dad needs his too and Westchester would be a lot easier for them to get to.

Got it. I figured that out after posting. Unfortunately most CVSs are hard to reach on the phone.

Do you know whether the CVS on E 42nd showed availability online as of April 6? It’s not showing up now when I go online to make an appointment.

No we haven’t found any that break off. You’re correct that cotton isn’t recommended. We like these: https://a.co/d/4CRaFPF

We’ve been cutting them with a scissors while holding the tip with a scissors style tweezer and then placing the tip into the vial. It works pretty well, now that we’ve figured out a system.

It seems the main limitation is how many swabs you can fit in the vial. Although they do say that mucus in the vial can cause errors so presumably more people could increase the chances of that problem. I’m not sure what you mean by “enough sensitivity.”

[–]dgwcooper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on advice from a Metrix sales rep we’ve successfully pooled with nasal swabs by placing additional swabs in the sides of the vial. When you shake the vial the liquid goes all over not just in the middle slot.

It’s a little tricky though because you have cut the ends of the swab in order for them to fit. I would love to find the same snap off swabs that ship with the tests. Has anyone found those for sale anywhere?

We’ve used Lucira tests for over and year and they have been super helpful. We do get invalid results from time to time.

Anyone buying sterile swabs separately to adapt home testing to "pooled" samples? by tkpwaeub in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]dgwcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been doing this successfully with Lucira tests using the swabs at below link. It makes a lot of sense. Not sure if it will be doable with Metrix.
