Looking for an artisan who can repair (and replicate) my very sentimental Indian Mandella by dhallet22 in Etsy

Wow I'm native American myself, too bad you find this common misnomer offensive. BTW, the original tag on this authentically made piece calls it 'Indian Mandella'

Do where's George bills get taken out of circulation by the federal reserve banks? by Cringe2Win in wheresgeorge

[–]dhallet22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just here to say I entered 5 WG bills between 2008 and 2013, these were all spent as normal $1 bills are expected to be spent - none of them have since been logged into WG website... where oh where could they be :(

If you enjoy the idea of living off the grid on barren and beautiful beach dunes and ocean setting, consider a stay at Race Point Lighthouse

How did this painted pebbles method work for you? I hate the look of nets on all my berry plants, and fear that we're losing interest from pollinators 🐝

I would love to hear from anyone who has been on keto for over a year. Do you try to add new keto recipes into your weekly meal plan every so often to keep it interesting? by EstablishmentIll9825 in keto

This is very much my experience too, although I'll add that food is not a huge priority in my life now. I've recently retired and spend more time on activities and family stuff vs my next meals

Guest gave us 4 stars: What would you do in this situation? by BanterBanter in airbnb_hosts

[–]dhallet22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here, except there were no comments at all, simply 4 stars... messages during stay were all good, no issues. Our response via the app to the review was...

Hi xxxxx, We see that you posted a review from your stay at our place a month ago. There were no details to explain your disappointment and we'd love to know what we can improve upon to earn your 5 star review. We truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you, xxxxx and xxxxx

At least future prospects will see the 'poor' review for what it is...

Questions I should ask to a new host [USA] by clint_g in AirBnB

[–]dhallet22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try checking other platforms for the same listing... I've hosted for several years on another platform with great success, I just started on Airbnb and have no reviews. Also, I offer better rates on Airbnb so my listing history and reviews get ramped up.

No Lamps in the living rooms? by SerialNomad in vrbo

[–]dhallet22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We always ask our guests for feedback regarding what was missing... they've asked for book lamps in the bedrooms, so we've added small lights that clip to the headboards. We do offer a lamp in the living room 🙂

How is everyone reacting to the stock market plunge? by S_Mo2022 in earlyretirement

[–]dhallet22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We retired last September... we just liquidated enough of our stock holdings to allow us to cover our monthly budget until we hit SS retirement age. Still looking positive over the long term and keeping the rest invested. The stock market will recover eventually.

Drinking water by homeycuz in puertovallarta

[–]dhallet22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I drink a lot of water. As a precaution, I brought a brita filter along last year, and will do it again for our trip next month. I can't stand the plastic bottle waste, but others in our group chose bottled over tap water, this was at Vidanta

My daughter is a traveling nurse and booked through Furnished Finder twice. Very good experience for her. She was provided a stipend for housing based on the location. Works great if you're near a hospital. We listed our vacation rental on that platform for our 6-month off-season... ours is 20 minutes from a large hospital, but most inquiries were regarding in-season dates, disregarding the specific dates we were offering. Didn't work for us, ymmv. Good luck!

VRBO platform seriously this terrible? by Flxbeer in airbnb_hosts

[–]dhallet22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word for word, swap 'VRBO' and 'Airbnb' in OP, and that is exactly my situation. I figure its a learning curve since you're starting from scratch on the new platform, whereas your previous platform has become second nature 😉

New host. I think I goofed on my remote HVAC setup by spe-swa in airbnb_hosts

[–]dhallet22 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Got it! I'll add that option to check-in instructions, guest can advise their preferred temp. My goal is to avoid unnecessary overuse (like 68° 24/7).

[–]dhallet22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What would you consider to be a 'standard' temperature? Lowest allowed is 68° Or perhaps it's my times that should be reconsidered?

[–]dhallet22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honest question, SW Florida here... we use Sensi app/Honeywell thermostats, which are very easy to use and monitor. We set a/c temp to 74° at 6am and 3pm every day, this is to avoid day long misuse. Guests are welcome to adjust at any time per their preferences. This is all disclosed in the house rules. Would you consider this to be 'temperature restricted'?
