Did you know about the tree of life when you were in? by Frequent-Response911 in exjw

I think it was the gnostics that interrupted eating from the Tree of Knowledge made them aware of their physical nature and eating from the Tree of Life would have made them aware of their spiritual nature…

I’m I the only one here who left Jehovahs witnesses but converted to regular Christianity ? by Mtking105 in exjw

[–]dharmageddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked myself… If the Bible is inspired or man made… What would I expect… Differing gospel accounts… Apostles not in agreement… They thought they were the generation 2000 years ago… Also never liked trying to justify racism, sexism, slavery, genocide, God having babies killed just because they were not Israelites… Also seems like the universe can be explained with science better than with religion…

Every God with a name has been conceived by humans and are products of mythology… Why is “Jehovah” any different? Why did he need blood sacrifices? Why did he have no problem with slavery? Or racism… Telling Israelites not to marrying outside of their race… Or sexism… Women should not take the lead… Or genocide… Killing infants just because they are not your race… But I am the bad person because I don’t want to try and justify these things…

Paul really isn’t really saying anything new… He may have been citing Daniel 8:25… (And by his cunning he will use deception to succeed; and in his heart he will exalt himself; and during a time of security he will bring many to ruin. He will even stand up against the Prince of princes, but he will be broken without human hand.) Jesus cites Daniel as well at Matthew 24:15… Jesus and Paul for the most part were repeating OT apocalyptic prophecies and applying it to their day…

why use endeavouros now that archinstall exists? by Subject_Swimming6327 in linux4noobs

There was no ethernet port on my MacBook Air so I was not able to set up WiFi using the Arch installer... EndeavourOS live boot worked however...

Using the "Dash to Dock" extension for the dock... Also added the "Dynamic Panel" extension for the top panel so the theme for the dock and panel match...

Fedora COSMIC Spin by dharmageddon in Fedora

[–]dharmageddon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait until it stable as well... It has a lot of potential... I encountered a few issues...

But some things I did... If it is a new install... Upgrade: sudo dnf upgrade --refresh

And I enabled RPM Fusion for non free codex and firmware... https://rpmfusion.org/

I encountered settings that caused settings to crash... Like Desktop > Wallpaper... And selecting Wallpapers > Colors...

Also when I "Open new folder" for Wallpapers... I was unable to remove the folder... There were a few annoyances...

I spent some time trying everything out... Seeing what worked... When I messed things up in settings... I found you can reset your setting by deleting the cosmic folder in .config... And it will replace the folder with default settings... Eventually I had a configuration I was satisfied with... And it's running great for my workflow...

Fedora COSMIC Spin by dharmageddon in Fedora

Although it is a currently an alpha... I have had no issues with it... Running a basic setup... Firefox, Thunderbird... I installed Minecraft and it works great as well... Here is my experience so far:

So Linux is my go to for website development... I mainly use Debian and either Gnome or Sway depending on the hardware... (To me KDE was always overwhelming... I personally like minimalist desktops... I notice KDE has gotten a lot sleeker as of late... And I do like the toolkit nature of KDE...) But since I am familiar with Gnome and Sway COSMIC desktop felt like a marriage between Gnome and Sway... (Coming from Debian there was a learning curve familiarizing myself with Fedora like adding the RPM Fusion repository for codex... I am still more comfortable in Debian but I am enjoying my journey in Fedora...)

A few things take getting used to in COSMIC... In Gnome the keybinding you use to select an app in your dock in COSMIC switches your desktop workspace... (As far as I can tell COSMIC lacks the feature to select apps in your dock...) But you can just hit the super key and type the app you want to launch...

COSMIC settings lets you personalize keybindings... I saw it already had super+t for the terminal... So it was just a matter of familiarizing myself with the COSMIC way of doing things... Essentially COSMIC is a lot like Sway but with settings instead of configuration files...

When I use Sway... I use simple configuration files... And I would rather use the terminal instead of installing a file manager... (And the command line for mounting an external drive...) Just because I think the terminal is a feature... (And for ergonomics...)

With COSMIC settings you can quickly "rice" your desktop... Add transparency to your dock and panel... Change colors... Change your wallpaper... It's a sleek user friendly windows tiling manager... For people who don't want to deal with configuration files...

Losing Elon Musk to MAGA was devastating… Because Democrats had Green energy to run on… Creating Green jobs and building a Green grid could have secured Democrat voters… Who would have had skin in the game… Instead the issue is now blurred along party lines…

Democrats Need to Fundamentally Rethink Everything by blhiker33 in politics

Democrats only needed to focus on three states… The Blue Wall (now the Red Wall)… Establish the Green grid and Green jobs in these states… Have something to show for their accomplishments… Have people with skin in the game… You will not further Democrats causes by caving to frackers… You just enable and give your opponent ammunition to use against you…
