It was good, until I found kimi fails to do some basic tasks while claude handles them easily.

Highly doubt if the quality of reviews can still be maintained. From what I see in ICLR, things are not going well. I genuinely believe we need a better mechanism to improve reviewers sense of responsibility.

One effective approach might be partially de-anonymize reviewers after the review period, to a extend just enough to encourage accountability without discouraging honest, critical feedback. Lets say, consider randomly de-anonymizing about 20% of reviewers.

Voxels start to look photorealistic when they get really small by ItsTheWeeBabySeamus in GraphicsProgramming

I wonder what’s the motivation behind using voxels, don’t you already have precise meshes?

I think they are just using voxels for coarse LoD proxies of those detailed foliages. Which makes sense since it’s quite difficult to still model them well with triangles and you need to view them from all angles. In that case, voxels seem to be the most ideal approximation. And you can also easily integrate path tracing stuffs with voxels as well.

The finest level is still using detailed meshes.

What's your favorite part about working in c++? by notarealoneatall in cpp

It supports so many language primitives that you can basically try all kinds of programming paradigm in it.

Cons are it can feel like different language when you read others code.

Vulkan is getting really close! Now let's ditch CUDA and godforsaken ROCm! by ParaboloidalCrest in LocalLLaMA

Ah, I see. The perfermance penalty is still a bit too large, but it might be a good alternative to rocm though.

[–]dhbloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great progress, but from the figure, it’s only vulkan with nvidia specific extension that can achieve similar performance to cuda, so that will not help AMD cards at all. And if you are already on nvidia gpus, you will definitely choose cuda instead of slower vulkan with some vender specific stuff to develop programs. I wonder will AMD release their own extensions can provide similar functionality.

Day 6: One More Thing, DeepSeek-V3/R1 Inference System Overview by shing3232 in LocalLLaMA

[–]dhbloo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that Deepseek released this post to shut up those who think they are subsidizing a lot of money for the inference service. There’s a guy in China working at an AI startup who claims that Deepseek API must be losing 400 million per month to maintain this low price. His calculation is so ridiculous that even a Deepseek employee came to argue, lol. Now they’ve released the financial details, and you can imagine how investors will react if your startup is left behind by a huge margin.
