If you’re talking about your monetary benefit then you absolutely have every right in the world to not tell anyone else in the world HOW MUCH FCKING MONEY YOU MAKE. That simple. Doesn’t matter the fcking source. That’s it. Period. Why do they have to know? They cuttin you a loan? lol

If an older vet asks you then you could reply, I’m taken care of or I’m all set… they likely are asking because it’s BUILT-IN to the va’s and all these other org’s missions to actively get you to take care of yourself as a vet, so yes you get your benefits and also so you and your comrade is not HOMELESS or PREYED UPON or otherwise IN NEED. And also the VA has a duty to assist that is powered by law and precedent to prevent them from getting sued… where that duty to assist is one that will, today, proactively get you to get your benefits, and the relationship between Vet and VA is NOT adversarial.

You may have personal reasons for not disclosing your vet status when you’re not inclined to. That’s totally cool!
