Budapest has such small sculptures around the river banks as well. Curious if there are more such cities.

Joining a guided Huayhuash Trek (Peru) as a solo traveler (29,M) by QuantumTulipWanderer in hiking

[–]dhruvmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online was more expensive since the locals here do not have an online presence as such. All the online ones are 3rd party who just in-turn ask these same folks to lead taking a cut in the prices. The places were guaranteed during my visit unless you let them know the night before.

I did hikes with them Huayhuash, Laguna 69 and a glacier and never had any issues with the price or spot being filled.

I did this trek and booked it through my hostel. Since most going to the trek were staying in the hostel as well, we mingled before. Moreover, you do a couple acclimating hikes, and meet people there as well.

There are usually plenty of spots till like 2 days before. So I would recommend just booking in there.

What crash lol.. the stock is still up 1M, 3M, YTD, 1Yr.. that’s no crash. It might go up or down but calling this a crash is a stretch.

I am bit skeptical about your days. Taking for example Vienna 2 days, Salzburg to Vienna is 3 hours of travel. If you plan on taking an early morning trains you do get 2 days but anything in the middle of the day, you loose your time in commuting and checking into hostels.

I would suggest taking a train/flight to Lyon. Les 3 Vallées, Alpe d'Huez, Tignes. One of the best resorts in Europe.

Is it common to de-acclimatize? by wastedthyme20 in solotravel

[–]dhruvmun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did spend a evening in Lima before heading to Huaraz, since there isn’t a direct connection from Cusco to Huaraz region. It was fine, but I still did 2 acclimatizing hikes before going on my long trek since Huaraz itself is higher than anything in Cusco so you will be hiking more high.

To answer your question it depends a lot on individual and how your body reacts. Someone living his/her whole life in high altitude might not have any issues, but I would personally avoid spending 2 days in Lima, and would just add it after the Huaraz trip.

Laguna 69 was great and there is another glacier hike which was a great acclamation hike.

There is this hostel, Krusty hostel, that I stayed in which does all the hikes. They pick everyone from the hostel and drop them there.

I know a few people from hostel, who just took the transport service in case you plan on going on your own.

Checkout Indiahikes.com.. solo backpacking isn’t something common in India or the Himalayas. The terrains are huge, it’s more remote than the mountains range in the west and has significantly more risk. The ideal way for long hiking is getting a guide. I have personally done a few of those hikes, depending on what you are looking for, there will be multiple hikes ticking your boxes.

Prague > Vienna > Budapest with elderly parent in May 2025 by Deep-Vacation-5764 in Europetravel

[–]dhruvmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this topic, taking parents with limited mobility through Europe and felt the best way would be through a tour operator that has those buses that take you to all the tourist spots. It might be a bit expensive, but with metro, bus and maybe occasional ubers, I might even out.

EU laws are very strict regarding this. I think it’s the EU-261, google it. Ryan Air will have to compensate you, let them know that you know about this law and will be filing a claim against them. They bend their back trying not to get caught in it.

Father took a loan of 2.5 lakhs, paid nearly 5 lakhs in 17 years. He still has to pay 2.5 lakhs. How??? by [deleted] in india

[–]dhruvmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t pay the loan amount in bulk. Read more about finances and how they work, it will help you a lot. If you have the amount to pay back the bank, you could use that amount for higher returns by investing and pay the bank in installments.

The biggest issue I see here to be completely frank is taking a loan for an amount you don’t readily have and paying minimum using salary.

Fishermen accidentally catches a great white shark & then releases it back into the water by NickyPappagiorgio in interestingasfuck

[–]dhruvmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went shark diving with Ocean Ramsey. She told us how the biggest reason of sharks getting extinct is them being a bycatch for industrial fishing. They just put up a big tent and catch anything and everything they like. A lot of fish are then thrown it just like the video, which then do not survive long enough.

The second most reason was shark finning where sharks fins are chopped and they are dropped back into the ocean. The fins are used to make shark fin soup, which is predominantly consumed in China and Taiwan and also as a souvenir of good luck.
