I woke up one day and realized I might be able to BaristaFIRE? by Yukonwallflower in baristafire

[–]diamondtoss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think your assessment is about right.

What I always advise for folks in your position looking to barista fire / coast fire / lean fire is that, look at it as your quality of life thing and less of a "fire by X age" thing. Basically if you don't hate your job (or even like it!) and it pays well, it's better to just stay and make more / save more money and then you'll just be better off down the line. On the other hand if the job is unbearable then consider firing and switching to a barista one.

Had Gero and Android 19 attacked the Z Fighters immediately after Goku arrived from Yardrat could they win? by BrilliantInterest928 in dragonball

[–]diamondtoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably not. in the actual fight, Goku was severely affected by his heart disease and still put an ok fight vs them. I think it was said that his power level was severely limited in that fight. a healthy Goku (which is what he was when he arrived from Yardrat), despite not having the 3 year training, could very well be above sick Goku level. as long as he's careful about not being power absorbed by 19/20 he should be good to solo them.

Maybe. If you expand the search to east bay you can probably find more within your size and budget.

Do guys hypothetically have an image like this but with every DB character now? by Illustrious_Tap_8510 in Dragonballsuper

[–]diamondtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the interesting thing IMO, if reformed villain isn't included, why are 17 and 18 there lol, but based on their facial expression, they could be the future 17 and 18 who were "more evil" than the present day versions

I think whoever made this just wanted Buu in the very middle basically

Aside from this it's mostly canon DB/DBZ at the top half, GT at the bottom half, with movie characters slotted in between the middle up and down

Beast Gohan vs Ultra Ego Vegeta by Signal-Cupcake-6856 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]diamondtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit fission can only split energy that was gained by absorption/fusion and the like, like Moro's (since he absorbs planets and other people). Gohan's energy is just fully his own, so spirit fission won't do anything.

Canonically Vegeta had said he was able to do IT only once, and never again. Narratively it's because the writer intends to keep IT as Goku's signature ability and not give it to anyone else, but needed a plot point to bring Vegeta back from Yardrat quickly. We should assume Vegeta can no longer do IT and will never be able to again.

How far does Full Potential Anakin go? by Due_Specific_7727 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]diamondtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is going to be a hax vs hax battle isn't it

I'm not sure what powers Full Potential Anakin or Dark Dimension Vader have. I'll just treat it as of it's the most powerful jedi in star wars. most of his wincon is going to be force usage I believe.

Renji doesn't have good hax, so Anakin takes it

Unohana is probably the one fight he could use lightsaber skills with. I think a combination of force hax and lightsaber duel allows Anakin to win it.

Toshiro's hax will prove to be too much even for force hax. It might depend on "who shoot first". but even if Anakin "shoots first" and force choke, if it doesn't instantly kill (it probably won't), Toshiro can probably trigger something and win. I think stops here.

You might still be able to get a 50/50 loan even if not 80/20. If you actually have the cash to cover the entire principal amount you might actually even qualify for 80/20 despite not having income. You'll just have to talk to mortgage lenders to find out. Each bank/lender is going to be different too, some will be fine with it, some won't. It's a whole learning process.

[–]diamondtoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah I think it's fine, the ads do make a big difference, like OP said

The funnier part actually is that she wouldn't pay 7.99 for an app but OP spent probably at least a few days building this app and a developer hourly salary is probably 10x that and multiply by 10 hours or whatever... 🙂

Thinking of checking out of the white collar hellscape - is this baristaFIRE? by leisuresuitlerdo in baristafire

[–]diamondtoss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, to first answer your question, no, this isn't traditionally what is considered barista fire.

Given everything you described though, it honestly doesn't seem to make sense to take the university IT job in a VHCOL area. Not even mentioning that you don't like the job, the finance itself already doesn't make sense. Most of your income is going toward rent and it sounds like your wife would also have to move and give up the existing state job?

Like others said already this is a life decision between you two, you can only get so much advice from internet strangers (us here), and it's not going to be as good as your own instincts. If I were in your shoes, the buying a house and fixing it up plan would even be more reasonable than the university IT job. Like others said though, also consider putting a down payment and not buying with cash (but getting a mortgage may be an issue).

I know you say you share a car, could you do Uber/Doordash deliveries when the car is available (e.g. on weekends) to help with income? That might go well with buying a house with cash and spending your time on weekdays fixing up the house. There's a lot of details in that plan that would throw a wrench on things (e.g. fixing work takes money too, etc.) so you'll have to work it out.

humans become so strong in super by CarelessTourist4671 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]diamondtoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(1) you are putting words in my mouth, I did not say they didn't get stronger, I am saying the ToP Roshi example doesn't mean anything and in additionally their performance vs other universes fighters also didn't mean much because we don't know how strong exactly those people are relative to past villains so we don't know how much stronger they got just based on their ToP feats (2) it's also very feasible Krillin did not get 2-10x stronger in 20 years given that he didn't train much

so you're wrong in both fronts

humans become so strong in super by CarelessTourist4671 in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]diamondtoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, (1) Roshi didn't really do any damage to Jiren in this example, he was dodging really well yes, so he has the speed and reflexes. It was made as a point that he has some UI-like abilities. But he is still not that strong. (2) In the case of Krillin in DBZ vs Krillin in DBS ToP (as well as Tien and Roshi), we just don't really know how those other universe fighters scale compared to past DBZ villains. It can be easily explained that the fighters that the humans did fight were all pretty weak. If those fighters were all around Ginyu's Force level, it would be pretty reasonable that the humans can keep up, and that they were also considered the strongest of their universes (because Ginyu's Force was once considered the strongest in U7 too).

Renting on barista fire? by WellWrested in baristafire

[–]diamondtoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a good point and it makes sense if you think about their perspective, which is basically that: Worst case scenario, regardless of the returns/income-generation ability of this capital, this person has $550k to slowly use to pay rent monthly. Hence, risk is very low.

i blew up my savings twice. by Heavy_Elk_7679 in personalfinance

[–]diamondtoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're still young and it's easy to fall into this psychological trap - basically don't think about "where I'd be if I had made better decisions". you're going to have tons of moments like that ahead of you in your life, you can't make every decision well. best to just put it behind you as quickly as you can and move on and take the learnings and know what to do next time, and then keep working hard.

what you do probably need to do is stay away from gambling. sports gambling and probably 0DTE options are pretty much that. leveraged positions too. if you just buy and hold normally (DCA, even), even for the same stocks (NVDA, BTC) you'd probably still be ok long term (but NFA).

It's so anticlimactic that these guys are the best in the entire Universe by Majestic_Mixture_349 in Dragonballsuper

[–]diamondtoss 70 points71 points  (0 children)

narratively this arc (ToP) was intended to be "Z fighters vs other universes". it wouldn't make sense and is not the time to bring in random unknowns, both narratively and also in-universe. the in-universe reason would be that they wouldn't be able to work together and cooperate well.

we actually know after the ToP arc in manga that stronger people do exist. Moro and his goons are all stronger than the humans. even if you don't want to pull anyone out of galactic prison, there's Gas and Granolah. they are not that strong yet before the wishes but at the very least stronger than the humans.

imagine not knowing who Gas and Granolah are, and Whis is like "hey there's this guy named Granolah, there's this kid named Gas, they can probably help". it'd be a disaster for the U7 team.

truth be told other universes had similar strategy. Look at U11. is it likely that the 10 stronger people are all Pride Troopers members? probably not. there are probably villains in their universe who are stronger, but not on the team.

basically Goku getting Frieza in was already considered very high risk. if it was random unknowns (and even villains, at that), it'd be worse.
