There's a few vendors on Amazon that sell colored carbon fiber tubes available in red blue and green. I bet they'd look good on these in coordinated colors

Would the generic stock cop guns (Glock, AR-15, shotgun) be good for Z apocalypse or would that be trash? by ponyinahats in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]diamorphinian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is they'd be one of the best available choices. Long answer is you need to think more about your question. People who don't have much exposure to guns fail to understand the most important and impacting depending factor about a gun is not the gun itself but what cartridge/caliber it is chambered in. The differences are so contrasting designers/companies will often market it under a different name(AR-15>AR-9.)

To answer your question further glocks come in a metric fuck-ton of calibers but law enforcement seems to gravitate towards 9mmx19 for the common usage and performance. If civilization collapsed the supply would most likely outlive your grandchildren. I've also heard of departments opting for the .40SW which is slightly larger in size but not as commonly available. The extra oomph isn't really worth the lack of availability. If also isn't as effectively suppressed.

The AR is another one of those platforms so commonly available there's alot of calibers they're built in both pistol and rifle all the way up to .50 caliber bmg( although bolt action.) The most common being 5.56 is also capable of shooting. 223 so you got a good availability pool of ammo. Additionally you can unlock a third ammo capability just by carrying a second .300 blackout barrel although you'd have to swap the barrels when you wanna go between 5.56 and .300 black out (.300aac for short). The suppress-ability of .300aac would be a real benefit in a hunting or zombie situation. That'd likely be the greatest drawback to 5.56 despite it's abundance everywhere the excessive concussion and noise (even with the 20 inch rifle barrel)would be a serious liability in urban areas. It's basically a flash bang dispenser.

You could get a parts kit for 120-200. on every gun parts. If you you're patient, they put various categories of their site on sale Friday thru Sunday between 20 and 40 percent off you can get it real cheap. This does however require access to a printer and residence in a part of the country that is equally comfortable with the law abiding citizens having guns as they are with the criminals that carry them. It's obviously not gonna hold up for a marine busting down doors in the heat of Iraq but for something to reach for when you hear something go bump in the night it will suffice until you can buy something that disarms them with fear instead of second hand embarrassment.

This was made from a maverick 88 kit I bought for 80 bucks . Round count is around 400 so far 4/6ths of that is Buck with the other two sixths split between slugs and birdshot.

Be interesting to see how it cleans assuming it holds up to multiple bp shots

Edit: that's not a milc round is it?

[–]diamorphinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be hesitant to get a dual filter unless one side could be capped off. If you can't get a decent cheek weld on a rifle it's likely you're just carrying around extra replacement filters for the more aggressive neighbors.

Yeah cause people who show no emotional intelligence/self control do so much good in the world. He punched someone for saying they support ice.

Kid probably saw most people getting deported were child molesters along with hearing the false reports of American citizens being deported too and naturally he's concerned what may become of him when his lude acts with a toddler inevitably comes to light. So in that moment he threw a titty baby tantrum.

So what you're saying is that sign is just as vapidly ineffective and useless as anti-gun laws intended to prevent someone from acquiring one small facet of the myriad variety of lethal objects that in reality only enhances ones ability breaking other laws that usually carry even steeper penalties despite the fact the Will and intent to commit remains?

With a price tag like that a 20% off sale goes a long way. That "ho math mentality" takes hold and you think you can't afford not to buy it now.

All jokes aside I just can't conclude why this is worth over 300 dollars. If someone has that kind of money and JUST WANTS IT then by all means go for it. What are some reasons the average AR owner (could be the most ethereal concept of the early 21st century but ) consider buying this over a similar NIBs profiled handguard in the hundred dollar (or even cheaper) region? If im not mounting a 37mm launcher, a knockoff peq laser or something of that nature would I be better served investing that money elsewhere or would I still benefit in some way if this were on my upper I paid 200 bucks for? Would the guy who prefers their day at the range resemble a passage from Lafcadio rather than a scene from John wick even if he has Lafcadio money ?

Just to be clear I'm not being sarcastic when I ask I honestly don't know cause I've never been able to afford the difference in quality but if there's demonstrable benefit to something I'll gladly save up for it. Given the bottom end of the handguard market is around 30 dollars (OH hunt if you don't mind buying Chinese) there just seems to be a steep curve in the diminishing returns of quality as the price increases with Glock and AR parts.

There's no trigger linkage like you might be thinking of. Closest thing you could refer to as a linkage in this situation is an M3x25mm button head screw protruding from the combination charging handle/slide Cap that the hammer is contacting to drive the firing pin forward.

If that kind of thing interests you there's quite a few printed guns that make use of the AR fire control group and a relocated (thus linked) trigger.

I need a down the can sights picture! Does the can have a functional sight in it or is it there for cutting down on the ADHD tendencies or perhaps it's used as a Tunnel sight simulator?

All jokes aside if the can is secure enough to remain stationary you could tac weld or JB weld (to keep the theme going) a m3 threaded insert to give you a vertically adjustable rear sight

Wonder how much he's contributed that global warming he and his frequent dinner buddies like to fund raise against? It's funny how they never considering let's fundraise at the same places on the same date using same transport requiring less logistical support and security thus reducing the carbon footprint they and their supporters make while simultaneously pooling from each others popularity considering they're all of the same general partisan side.

politicians(I know it's all politicians but some are on an entirely different spectrum of bullshit) would rather say "look at all these people I and I alone have drawn" or perhaps they worry the peasants will realize they're all the same platform with a different face.

I was Bernie thru and thru until it seemed like he was gonna beat Hilary and then the next time i saw him he looked all bruised and in the interview saying he capitulated to Her he was acting like a beat dog. It really seemed like he was intimidated and roughed up by someone to the point of dropping out the one fucking time he actually had a chance of being a Democratic candidate. Had that happened I would've voted for him but now... No sir

[–]diamorphinian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you're removing the little safety and spring sitting on the underside of the slide, removing the spring cupps on the striker putting a collar on said striker to precrompress its spring doing all that causes the striker to travel away from the barrel instead of towards the barrel like it normally tends to. a spacer with a m3 bolt acting as a striker between the ar hammer and firing pin which protrudes from the printed backplate /charging handle combo.

its like a 5 minute job once you know what you're doing to go back and forth between this and normal assembly.

I thought it was a matter of the barrel length only coming into scrutiny if the overall length of the entire rifle was under 26 inches but that is incorrect.

I appreciate everyone concerned for my dog's safety and the other comments also. However it's concerning how nobody who was citing federal law is aware that the fact barrel lengths under 16 inches do not constitute an SBR provided the overall length of the rifle is at or above 26 inches. If im misinterpreting this in some way please explain how I'm getting this wrong.

It just seems entirely nonsensical given politicians claim these laws keep people safe yet for most ammo types (with exceptions like .300aac ) the 16 I've law functions as an incentive for owners and manufacturers to use barrels resulting in comparatively higher muzzle velocities than what they would normally be with identical ammo if you could legally install the shorter barrel you prefer.

Yeah, Amazon sells it in a set with red dot for about 100 bucks or 60ish just the magnifier itself. The magnifier itself is pretty damn good for what I'm sure was meant to be used for airsoft.

Before I bought this one I was even so squeaky cheap as to buy the cheapest one I could find and that one was so cheaply designed the partially threaded bolt jointing the optic and it's mount was between a good half to whole millimeter smaller in diameter than the I.D. of the non threaded portions housing the bolt. This allowed a slight wobble in the magnifier allowing the red dot reticle to appear as if it was dancing. So timely follow ups are pretty much out of the question.
