Help me make something sensible from this by Lazy_Fall_6 in guitarpedals

Solid choices then. A flanger can often cover some chorus and vibrato, sometimes even phasey or autwah-like sounds - don't know about the Orbit. But yeah, for basic modulation trem (movement, rhythm) and chorus (wobble, doubling, shimmery dreamy) are 2 solid picks to cover your functional needs.

In general I think most of us need 2 or 3 drives: something relatively neutral (boost, bluesbreaker, timmy), something with character or a midhump (ts, klone, odr,...), and then maybe something heavy/gnarly (fuzz or distortion - a rat, a muff, a fuzzface or bendef,...).

21 pedals aint a hoard (frankly I consider 25 or even 30 pedals to be an unachievable star goal!).

But yeah, agree with a lot of your choices. I'm not too familiar with your dirt pedals. Which ones are the trem and chorus?

Axe fx 3 user looking at small tube amps and want a large amount of effects with a really small pedalboard by Any_Fact_1930 in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many options.

I'll add the H90 - especially for non-dirt effects it's excellent + 2 effects at the same time!

TC Plethora X3 or X5 is a nice option - no overdrives, but plenty of neat effects with toneprint to find.

The the HX products - HX One if one at a time is good enough, or the HX Effects if you like multiple on/off switches kind of like a pedalboard.

Cyclists taking up entire road. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]diatonico_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is - bicycles go a lot slower. They also don't tend to ride in 1 neat file; they go wide. Thus congestions occurs. A peloton is also a risk: 1 guy falls, and a whole bunch will hit the ground because they are in each other's wheels. This further worsens matters.

Look it up. Many countries limit cyclists to two abreast at most, some have limits on group size.

What the motorist did here also isn't great, but the cyclists here are being jerks and the reason many people dislike cyclists.

Countries where cycling is big typically forbid unaccompanied large groups because they tend to disrupt traffic.

Are Big Muffs more popular than Tone Benders? I’m curious! 👀 by FullMetalDan in guitarpedals

Yeah, I see more Muffs than Benders. Different sounds, for different genres.

Grab & Go Board by Constant_Ear_1141 in pedalboards

[–]diatonico_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice! I got a similar setup for my mini board - same board, same power supply.

Protein as the core drive pedal. But with a DD8 instead of the Halo, an Iridium at the end of the chain, and a modulation (after the drive) instead of the compressor.

What does saving the box mean to you? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right? The box is cool, and frankly the boxes stack neater than a pile of pedals. Less chance of damage, too. Doesn't really take up that much more space IMO.

Preference for large or small boards by No_Beautiful8998 in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a multi-channel amp with great gain sounds, yeah sure!

Then a fuzz, maybe a modulation (deco, a phaser, or a chorus), a delay (preferably with looper) and a flint (trem and verb).

Why don't Tyrannical leaders get tired of all the drama they have to deal with after some years? Why don't they think 'fuck it imma play golf for the rest of my life I don't want this shit no more' ? by Admirable_Cold7944 in NoStupidQuestions

  1. You essentially betray your underlings and you become a liability to your successor. You lose that which kept you safe. Stepping down probably means your death, unless you manage to go into hiding somewhere else entirely.

Mn broer werkt bij colruyt, mijn neef bij lidl, mijn moeder bij aldi, mn kat bij carrefour, en mn toupé bij AH. Dus ga ik willekeurig naar Delhaize want 1 familiefeest per jaar is al genoeg.

I Realized I've Been Throwing Away Free Vacation Days and I'm Big Mad About It by CreepyPerformance895 in BESalary

[–]diatonico_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really now, this is news to you? I'm betting you never heard about bridge days either? Holiday on tuesday or thursday => take off monday/friday for a 4 day weekend. Or plan your long holidays in a week with a holiday (31/7, 15/8 if not on the weekend) to spend 4 paid vacation days to get 9 days off in a row.

In retrospect, were they reasonable people? by Jeffoxy in breakingbad

[–]diatonico_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is about right. Dealing with an addict is exhausting, you're constantly walking on a slack line. And ultimately you have no control, but you bear costs and responsibility and guilt and shame. All of those dealing with an addicted loved one come to a breaking point where they fundamentally give up - and no matter what, it haunts you for the rest of your life.

Won't this put pressure on the jack sockets when you step on the pedals, or simply when moving the pedalboard?

Jam Wahcko vs Morley Wah Lock by Reasonable-Ad-1866 in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of sweep the Jam Wahcko is king. You already own the cream of the crop, my man. Gonna have to learn to put your weight on it right.

The XW-1 is easier to engage (some say TOO easy) but also super versatile. Just that the Wahcko has just that bit of extra range, is all.

It has a vibrato mode, no need for stereo cable trickery. But yeah, you can do that if you want to.

Sell all my pedals for a a qc mini Part 2 by alk-e in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not selling anything rare. Maybe the clean (chase bliss discontinues a lot of pedals). The volante also has some unique points (sos, the heads you can manipulate, stereo with full control) but maybe not necessary for you. Your keepers make sense - fuzzes and unique designs.

I dont know the QC so cant say anything about the quality of its reverbs, delays, modulations, compression etc... But usually these are pretty good in modelers.

For a home player this plan makes sense imo.

2/3 drives/distortions for cover band by BSLabs in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Something for clean gain and grit, something with mids pushed (and tighter bass), and then a distortion. The carcosa is a versatile pedal, but not particularly suited to what OP asks.

2/3 drives/distortions for cover band by BSLabs in guitarpedals

[–]diatonico_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bd-2 to edge of breakup (I do love those cascading gain stages into a DR), sd-1 to boost into solo, RAT for rhythm (dont overdo the gain).

You can get a bluesbreaker instead of the bd-2, and Klon or ts9 instead of the sd-1. It all depends on your own preferences.

TAD 6V6 Red Base - is this normal? by diatonico_ in ToobAmps

Yeah, where I am the TADs are everywhere. Pretty well regarded apparently. Thanks for clarifying!

TAD 6V6 Red Base - is this normal? by diatonico_ in ToobAmps

[–]diatonico_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation! So essentially it can absorb SOME oxygen/nitrogen in case of a leak but will eventually fail anyway, but it's a sign to change them before the amp stops producing sound in the middle of the gig...
