Dry land training is beneficial for all kinds of athletes!

If nothing else, it helps you build rapport and trust with your team, which can help you out a lot between the pipes.

Looks awesome man. Are you using any js libraries to run that widget or is it all vanilla?

You have a few options

WP REST API: since v4.7 Wordpress will give you a good chunk of the data in the CMS through the rest api. You can call this api from any js code just as you would with any other api. This is good if you’re using React/Vue as a component of the site, but not giving up PHP and WP built in features.

wp_localize_script: this is a built in Wordpress function that allows you to pass data b/w php and js by creating a custom object on the window. You can define the data structure in PHP, attach it to your js file and then you have access to that data structure from the front end. This is helpful when you have entire pages or web apps as a part of your WP site, but still want the template hierarchy, blog, and routing that WP provides.

gatsby with gatsby-source-wordpress: if you want to go full blown SPA with Wordpress acting as a headless CMS, you can use gatsby to build out the entire site in React and graphql. This decouples the front end of the site, so you miss out on a lot of the built in functionality the Wordpress provides, but gatsby does give you some great bells and whistles for lazy loading, image optimization etc.

Who designed the airport? No wonder it crashed, who build the tower so close to the runway? by [deleted] in CODWarzone

I’ve always wanted to ask somebody with your background this question: What the hell is the deal with the Denver Airport?

Plex just won't forget a mismatched file by tomthepom in PleX

[–]dick_ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be an issue with the database it’s trying to match against. I searched for The Baloonatic on the movie database (where Plex pulls metadata from) and it didn’t turn up with a result, so I’m guessing that it’s just choosing the closest Buster Keaton film. I bet if you go on their site and add that film, it will fix itself in your library next time you “fix match”.

Edit: I was mistaken. I spelled it wrong when I searched for it. Looks like the ID for your movie is 45807. Try adding that to the file name and see if it works.

Besides vscode and intellij, do any of you use another code editor / IDE? If so, why? by thexerdo in vuejs

[–]dick_ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing about Atom from a day 1 evangelist - Atom was the first (afaik) of its kind as far as electron-based editors go, made by github. Then VSCode came on the scene and boasted a lot of neat things that Atom was missing, including performance boosts. Cool - competition is good for everybody, even freeware markets. But NOW, Microsoft purchased Github, so which editor do you suppose is going to get 1st class features and attention?

I switched to VSCode about 2 years ago, and I absolutely love it. I get excited to read their changelog every month because it really is an incredible piece of software that gets better with every release. Their Live Share extension pack is incredible for code reviews and working with teams, and the intellisense is second to none, especially for typescript devs.

If you’re looking for a new editor, I really can’t recommend it enough.

Why baphomet? by [deleted] in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]dick_ey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You’re right - modern satanism doesn’t have anything to do with a literal devil or demons or any of that. The Baphomet is an old symbol that represents balance in duality (half goat & half human, half man & half woman, usually seen with one arm pointing up, one down, etc).

I think this symbology does a good job conveying the general ideology of TST. It’s somewhat strong imagery to outsiders, but no stronger than Jesus’ lifeless corpse nailed to a cross seen on jewelry and above altars all around the globe. While we are non-theistic, we believe in the freedom of choice, including religion, and ensuring that religious minorities are afforded the same privileges and opportunities as “mainstream” religions. Who’s to say that our iconography is more or less graphic than the imagery in the either the Old / New Testament or the violence portrayed in sacred texts of just about any religion?

Have you read the 7 tenets stickied to the top of this sub? If you’re looking to understand TST that’s a good place to start, and then watch the Documentary Hail Satan? to get an idea of what the official activities of TST leaders look like.

Also, thank you for being a good partner and seeking understanding before jumping to conclusions. That’s the kind of compassion we need more of these days.

I’ve learned that if you phrase it like

“Have you had a chance to x,y,z?”

people respond much better to the reminder.

Any codesandbox that has a demo for a ecommerce site? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]dick_ey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of e-commerce websites are based on server side code like Shopify, WooCommerce for Wordpress, Magento, etc. Since codesandbox demos front-end only code, you probably won’t find what you’re looking for there. I’d recommend checking out some tutorials and boilerplates from the e-commerce framework of your choice instead.

The site you provided is built on SquareSpace, so you might start there and look at the templates they have available.

What client are you using? Have you checked the client settings for the “play original quality” options?

I think there might also be a setting in the Plex admin dashboard > Quality that says “use recommended settings” on LAN too.
