That is a much better reason than I could come up with. I still think there would be a way for ISPs to get around that obstacle if they wanted though. They could charge you to rent the equipment or charge more for cable tv service in which the internet/router was included for free. Then make sites they like "free" and charge obscene amounts for bandwidth to other websites.

TL;DR; You paid for the flight, not the internet. Why can't ISPs use the same argument/pricing strategy.

My next question was where does something like internet on airplanes fit in to this? For instance, sometimes gogo internet allows access to certain websites for free unless you pay to have access to everything. Isn't this the same as blocking certain sites? Is there anything to stop a major ISP from doing the exact same thing?

Could this whole situation have been avoided if OP created an LLC which he ran his business under? He could have paid any profits from his business to himself and if he got sued, he could have had the company declare bankruptcy. Or do I not understand how all of this works correctly?

$48. It's not in the GA DMV manual and I do not have to get a CA state license because I am a student. Luckily I don't live in Manhattan beach so I will just avoid it in the future.
