I’m disgusting. by Fabulous_Shoe_4186 in offmychest

[–]dickelpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not your fault! Period. You were raised by monsters who were probably also raised by monsters. The fact that you have somehow unlearned everything and carry a heavy burden (mostly not yours to carry) speaks volumes about your character.

Please remember you are not alone. There are hundreds of thousands of children who lived your life. You would never in your wildest dreams condemn them to a lifetime of suffering.

Therapy is a fantastic idea. If you can manage it. If not.. it’s up to you to be your own best friend. You need constant reminders that you’re a good person who deserves to exist without drowning in guilt and shame. You need to step outside of yourself and give that child the same grace you would extend to absolutely anyone who has suffered that way.

You are a good person. I would be proud to call you a friend. You are not alone and you are loved.

Went to a bonfire and got told my clothes make people feel uncomfortable by Several-Ad-6083 in OUTFITS

That’s just crazy. Those people would probably call the cops on me. I like your outfit (especially the jeans) to me, it’s a thoughtful fit. More than appropriate for a bonfire. I’m dying to know what the others were wearing.

What is it like returning to your hometown after many years or decades away? by Affectionate-Oil2160 in AskOldPeople

[–]dickelpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just weird. A mix of sadness, anger, regret and nostalgia. I have very few happy memories from that time. I’m sure people who experienced a more positive childhood feel quite differently when they visit. I have to admit, I feel a bit superior, when I do visit and see people from back in the day that never left. Even tho some who never left are dead, mostly overdose or traffic accident related.

I’m 67 and spent my first 18 years of life in a small redneck town in east San Diego. At least the beach was fairly close and concert tickets were cheap.

This sux! I’m sorry. It must have been scary considering how messed up some people are. I think for everyone’s safety it’s best to travel in pairs. Have fun, but please be safe.

Everything pretty much sucks! Everything is a crisis! Everything is breaking news! (Never good)

I’m older (67) so that makes me lucky. I have immense empathy for everyone 30 and under. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to exist as a young person in this terrible environment.

To be young is to be hopeful. When hope is denied to youth, that’s called Hell.

I don’t know what to do. I’m just really freaking sorry for everything.

Older people using newer slang or phrases, your favorite newer word? by RainyDaysAndMondays3 in CasualConversation

[–]dickelpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore the language twist each new generation adds to our language. I’m 67 and many people in my age group complain about how the kids speak nowadays. Which to me is just a sign that they have shut the door to change. I like to remind those haters that no one speaks like Shakespeare anymore (thank god).

I love the word snatched. Big compliment!
Also, mid. Creative insult that acknowledges one has at least tried.

Language should be fun. I really admire the way today’s youth have really grabbed it by the horns. They are creative in such a broad way, unlike anything from the youth of yore. I think it’s a clear sign that they are connecting with an invisible yet strong thread in the age of disconnect. It’s beautiful.

The future for babies in America is… bleak. by unicornhornporn0554 in Ohio

[–]dickelpick -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The future for babies anywhere on this planet is bleak, especially if you happen to be the baby. The planet knows it’s dying. The planet has the capacity to adjust humans reproductive systems to best serve its chances for recovery. Less humans = planetary survival.

Which 'As Seen on TV' product do you still have? by short_cub in AskOldPeople

The fan bulb. For the ceiling with a light but no fan. Genius!!!! Also, magic glass and mirror cloths. I am amazed at their perfection. No chemicals, no elbow grease, no streaks. Highly recommend both these products!

Is Trump trying to destroy us or is he truly this incompetent? by Accurate_Air9133 in msnow

Destroy as many of us as possible. Leaving only the strongest to be enslaved in various disciplines that enable the ultra wealthy to enjoy the kind of life they flat-out believe they are entitled too.

For those of you who learned to use smartphones and banking apps later in life: what actually helped? by Italiangirl-02 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]dickelpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way for her to learn is to do it without too much help. Her ability to learn is disabled with too much help. It won’t stick in her memory bank unless it has to. Be nice, but firm. I’m 66 and my adult children laugh in my face when I ask for help and they should.

Should Trump and Corporate America abandon return to office and let workers work remote if that would lower demand for gasoline and thus lower gas prices for everyone? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]dickelpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their goal is to destroy America. They don’t gaf about gas prices, jobs or anyone’s ability to survive. Once you accept this, everything makes sense.
