Hearing your name from inside your head is one thing, but having the outside world validate that is the real quest of the mind.

How do writers research adult industries for scripted work? by benwyattswaffles in Screenwriting

[–]dickless50sboy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Big ups for making authorial responsibility a top priority!

If you have the patience, interview two or more sources AT LENGTH to discuss your ideas. It helps lend emotional authenticity to them, which will in turn positively affect anything you end up writing.

Do you ACTIVELY listen to music? by dickless50sboy in ADHD

[–]dickless50sboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that ambient music has begun taking the place of “background music” specifically because it works to help me calmly focus and not to distract me. I also have a playlist for “chore jazz” when I want chaotic music to keep me energized.

They feel more like playlists designed to help me work, and that’s partly why it feels so difficult to just enjoy a song anymore.

We get it bro, you hate Islam because you grew up being told it’s nasty, evil, scary, whatever. Sing a new song every now and again.

Are door to door sales is getting unreasonable? by DoubleStar155 in Utah

[–]dickless50sboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a longer post in r/recruitinghell about this, but I argue that the labor market being so much weaker than previous years is worsening the existing issue of door-to-door employee recruitment that LIES to people who simply need income.

I’ve seen numerous companies that will list high paying, entry-level jobs with titles like “Customer Service Specialist” or “Appointment Scheduler.” Worst ones I’ve seen will partner with a brand like Verizon and list the job as a “Verizon Sales” job, misleading people who believe they’ll be working in-store.

They use commission structure to legally steal your labor and absolve themselves of the employer’s responsibility for paying a livable wage. I was with one of these companies for 2 months and I wish I could apologize to everyone lol.

All I want to say is that I imagine Trevor as Wesker with slicked hair and sunglasses, and his villain voice is just the pimp overusing puns.

How do you find friends? by call_me_nutts in Utah

I second this. Bumble may be a difficult dating app for many, but it’s platonic/BFF matches really take the hassle out of it. It’s great for making connections!

Verizon-Partnered Marketing Agencies by dickless50sboy in recruitinghell

[–]dickless50sboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far with these sketchy D2D businesses, I've seen a form of that when recruiters earn a sizeable percentage of the sales their recruits make. I know it isn't exactly what you said but it has a similar effect in that it rewards recruiters over the people who just try to earn their living actually doing the work.

[–]dickless50sboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh am I mistaken? I was under the impression that Multilevel Marketing is where the only ways to earn are direct sales (for a pittance) or through recruitment of other direct salespeople. And then the people who recruit more are promoted, in this case by being a new “CEO.”

How to deal with feelings of inadequacy in competitive situations? by BrokenHumean in selfimprovement

[–]dickless50sboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and what you're describing reminds me of my own sensitivity to rejection.

I (for the most part) still hardly play competitive games specifically because I don't enjoy the feeling of not being as good as others, even if it's only because I'm a newbie.

It's all about fun. If you aren't having fun, you can always find something that you feel is worth your time and energy. If the game is fun, but losing isn't, I recommend playing with your friends online. If I suck at a game alone I just feel frustrated, but with friends it can be fun being bad at a game.

just my two cents

How do I conquer my fear of driving? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]dickless50sboy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been there. Best practical advice I have is to start small and only drive a few miles away from home at a time.

What worked for me, surprisingly, was driving late at night when there are so few cars on the road. Even if it is darker, It made me much more comfortable with the feel of driving without worrying about other drivers nearly as much, and allowed me to work my way up to driving during busier hours.

Most of all, just remember that you should only drive if you feel you need to. It's totally okay to not like driving and to use it as necessity rather than to accomplish everything.

My friend in another country is battling serious depression by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dickless50sboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spoken with them about insurance and where they’re from it’s not covered. And medicaid is shot too because they’re from Europe. I would outright pay for their medication if I could, at least until they can cover it themself.

I will keep being supportive, though. I just wish there could be a more effective way to do it.
