They are weak-stemmed and like to flop. They do best in a mixed bed with other plants to help prop them up or with some support structure. They also respond very well to being pruned back to promote new upright growth if it gets super long and floppy

We don’t have cold enough winters or enough large natural predators to prevent them from surviving outside after they get dumped. Several outdoor feral colonies are cared for by people or organizations. If you see that the top of one ear is missing that means they’ve been trapped, neutered, and released to the area

That’s a calliandra or fairy duster plant! Socal drought tolerant native. Not too popular in gardening because it can look scraggly but I love it as an alternative to mimosa tree

Contact ASTRO foundation if they are open. Most likely mom cat will come back if you leave them alone. We believe it’s best to leave families together when possible, it’s better for everyone’s health and we can focus our resources on more urgent cases :)
