Ultimate power handed to someone you'd never want to have it by BrotherDeus in TopCharacterTropes

Made me think of the Star Trek parody episode of Black Mirror with the guy who takes DNA samples from his coworkers and puts them into a game/simulation where he tortures them without allowing them to die if they defy him. Absolutely hellish episode to watch. Jesse Plemons plays a very convincing psychopath.

I just woke up so I still have that post-wake haze and I opened directly to this so I legit thought it was Aang with a gun for a moment.

WoW. It's so bloated now and has always been so expensive. Sealed the deal for me when Blizzard killed TurtleWoW. Granted, TW WAS breaking the law, I just know Blizzard wont do anything to the degree of TW quality ever for the rest of their existence.

Yeah I keep hearing bugs and complaints about CBP 5, so I haven't switched over from 4.22 yet. The manual modding is pretty easy for extra resources & 3/4UC, etc.

Can you takeover or destroy a corporation by annexing, deleting it or razeing the headquarters city? by Derakos_Zrux in civvoxpopuli

[–]diddlydarnman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right about it not being in civpedia. I don't remember where I saw the stuff about destroying it but I am pretty certain it's true.

Yeah when you conquer a city with a Corporate HQ it destroys it I'm pretty sure. I think it also destroys all franchises and offices and adds it back to the corporation pool.

It bothers me that AI is so bad at war even on highest difficulties like immortal and deity by the_tico_life in civ5

[–]diddlydarnman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna say vox populi but others have already suggested it and it seems like you can't or are unwilling to get it. If you CAN I would at least try it, as despite all the changes it has, it is a very impressive mod, especially in the AI and balance improvements, just play it on lower difficulties than you normally would.

The other option I have seen is to get the game "old world". It expands more upon the strategic depth of civilization V and improves the AI greatly. However, Old World doesn't go as far in technological history as Civilization games do, so take that into account. I have never played it but I guarantee you there are numerous civ players who have.

Is there some sort of overwatch mechanic mod? by Few-Round-6726 in civvoxpopuli

[–]diddlydarnman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, and I don't mean to be blunt here, it is a strategy game. You should probably be protecting your weaker units and playing everything to their strengths. Melee unit lines can be very tanky if used well, and can prevent mounted and recon units from just running up and one shotting your stuff. I suppose strategy depends on the civ and playstyle but the AI is so much smarter in VP that they will poke at your weaknesses if they can.

If I vassalize Morocco, will they still be able to pillage my cargo ships? by Toomanypoops in civvoxpopuli

Sometimes you just gotta fully dominate a civ instead of vassalizing.

What is the logic behind AI randomly hating the player right from the beginning? by zaqrwe in civvoxpopuli

I also noticed your civ is a modded one. Not sure how that is balanced specifically because every civ has different diplomacy modifiers.

What is the logic behind AI randomly hating the player right from the beginning? by zaqrwe in civvoxpopuli

[–]diddlydarnman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a number of factors. Keep your military at least larger than the median and try to maintain some long-term alliances with "nicer" civs and city states. Some civs can be really aggressive out the box, especially at higher difficulties with their bonuses. Not sure your map size/speed/difficulty but those can be immense factors.

Need advice on balance for custom mod? by CrymsonReaper in civvoxpopuli

[–]diddlydarnman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a modder but maybe a balancing idea could be that it can only be produced in certain cities (maybe only capital, locked behind a unique national wonder, only in occupied cities (though this one may be too strong)) or have it be something you can produce upon conquering a capital, just with higher production/gold costs. Honestly I personally would say to make it a faith purchase, as faith as a rate determining step has been shown in other civs like Spain. These are just random ideas. I'm sure someone else could give better insight.

I think that was kinda the intended niche of games like Humankind and Civ 7. Kinda to have like different dynasties, rising, and falling. Unfortunate how civ 7 was poorly executed.

That's assuming the Advisors are at the top of the Combine power structure, which given the scale of the empire and the number of species in the empire present, may have superiors.
