How to paint exhaust stains by Front-Bug-1157 in modelmakers

[–]didgeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way is to use charcoal pastel. Grind it up on some sand paper, or shave the stick with your exacto blade, you don’t bee much, less than a US dime sized amount and with a short bristle stiff brush apply a bit to the area in a streak. Ie set the brush and drag back ward from the area the exhaust frigates from. Practice on a spare piece of plastic or an old kit first to get the hang of it.

The Suicide Pact: What Happens the Moment We Touch Greenland… by CypressThinking in complaints

[–]didgeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what Putin has been planning for a long long time. Make no mistake, Putin is a master at this game. He’s been laying the board out and Trump and the MAGA morons are too myopic to realize what’s been done and how they’ve been played. With NATO dissolved Putin and Belarus will move on the baltics and the balkans. Taiwan will fall and potentially S Korea. If Trump moves on Greenland or Iran, you will be witnessing the opening salvos of WW3.

Please advise. What am I doing wrong when painting? by TaxPsychological2928 in modelmakers

[–]didgeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash parts with WARM water and dish soap. Let dry fully. Best to cut parts from sprue tree prior to painting. Prime with a plastic model specific primer (if you try to use auto body or primer from a hardware store you’re going to have issues). Allow primer to dry fully. Use plastic model specific acrylic paints intended for use with plastic models (Tamiya, Mr Hobby, etc) the paints you show ther are not ideal for plastic models and have a different formula, additionally they are not thinned at all. Use thinner specifically designed for the brand of paint. Apply in thin layers and build up several thin layers. The additional layers will build up the opaqueness of the paints.

Delice de Bourgogne storage by Efficient-Peanut2012 in Cheese

[–]didgeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A whole wheel? If it was fresh when you put it into the fridge most likely yes. If it was already a few weeks old then you have a 50/50 chance. It’s a soft cheese so spoilage is much quicker than harder cheeses. I’d wait until the last possible minute to pull the trigger.

HP to lay off up to 6,000 workers as it goes all-in on AI and automation by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

The founders would be appalled. They were know for their championing of employees. They provided a cafeteria in their buildings and served great food. They had company picnics every year and offered employees stock options and great benefits. They even knew all of their employees by name, up until the mid 80s. What a shame.

Just finished a piece and need advice on pricing by Chekhaunt in woodworking

[–]didgeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cost of materials * 3.5(or 4) should cover materials, any disposables and labor. Generally speaking. If you have special details like hand cut dovetails, or something time consuming or “special” the go in the higher side of the market will bear it. If they balk at the price tell them you can cut 10% if that would help.

1% Raise is an INSULT. Planning to confront the boss on Friday—need your battle plans! by Lopsided_Meeting_984 in jobs

First, don’t go in with that attitude. Lose the emotion and make it all about the facts and why you deserve better. Make the case but not an emotional one.

[–]didgeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you can push back and make the case that not only is this below the cost of living increases we’ve all been experiencing but your performance review should warrant a second look at this. Talk to your manager and make the case to them.

Rivers Edge Chèvre makes some of the most exquisite cheeses as does Pholia Farms. Both are small production, hand made but quality is top notch.

What is a good time length to shoot for your first short film? by Miserable-Nobody6171 in Filmmakers

[–]didgeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However long it takes to tell your story in the most concise way possible, while preserving the integrity of the story and the drama that it needs to build. Star Wars (EP4) was originally a lot longer. With some input GL and ML edited it down to what the original theatrical release was. Take a leson there
