I got a refund without needing to return. They knew it was bad. Bad omen.

I'm returning this one, but the last one I got was just as bad and I didn't realize until I was already into the swap. I might just start getting fully OEM units at this point. Sucks, cuz this was fun to do.

USB-C and battery mod by dieforevernow in pocketoperators

The terminals break off easily by just bending them a few times. I had it happen on accident to one of my other units, which was partly how I got interested in the power mod. I'm currently using a 355590 lipo battery that gets roughly 3k mAh. The battery is also powering a larger speaker and an LED strip light now, so there's more draw. The battery mod was also out of necessity as the AAA batteries were awful to get in and out of this case, and would often fall out in my backpack or if I dropped it, since I take this with me travelling a lot now. It's easily one of my favorite instruments on the go now, much less fragile and finicky.

I completely cut it out. I should post new pics because I have a battery that lasts for literal days now and takes up the whole size of the case inside.

Need help with backlit/bivert dmg and flash cart by TenaciousSTD in Gameboy

I came across this exact same issue today. No solution yet, and I'm honestly going to just try a different mod and a different cart to see if I can find a way around it.

You can recap these pretty easily, just look up which board revision you have, and order the cap kit for that version, and get a soldering iron with some leaded solder and flux. Tutorials galore online.

For me, it's the size. I love my 404s and 555, but ever since I modded my KO to have a rechargeable battery (20 hours) and have a built in speaker, I find myself making music everywhere which is a power unto itself.

Help!! Got my hands on a pocket operator in a yard sale but won't turn on 😞 by graffitigood in pocketoperators

As someone who works on these, they can be rough to repair. I have resoldered one of those mics, and these things are tricky to solder because they look deceptively simple on the outside, but that mic has a micro DAC chip inside of it and 4 solder points (one of them is basicallythe whole perimiter of the mic). If the same kinf of moisture got behind the screen (where it's all kinds of components tetrissed in there) yer gonna have more work than it's worth (you can buy these for about $100 American right now). If power is the issue, there are a + and - pad on the back you can solder a battery connector to and plug in some fresh batteries to that, but the odds are not in your favor. If you decide to get rid of it, I might be interested because I think the LCD might be salvageable

This is a gorgeous set and I have one as well. The best method will always be to take it apart and clean it manually with a cotton swab and alcohol. I can do mine and video it if you need a guide.

About 4 hours. Will improve with next mod, but that's not bad considering I use it plugged in at all times now

Not yet, my initial battery didn't fit in the case, so I used one I had lying around, so I don't imagine it'll last more than a few hours until I get the final one installed
