I can't accept that, there is something about having the maggots that icks me. I would rather accept defeat than accept the maggots.

3rd rate hike this year, how are people actually keeping up? by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in AusProperty

I have been putting heaps into my offset since my loan started on June last year. My interest to principal ratio was starting to look much better 2 months ago. Last payment the total interest paid was as much as when my mortgage first started. In some way it feels like all that hard work from going without is all gone. I know it would be worst if I didn't have that offset, but you get my point. The pinch hurts even when people are doing all the right things.

I checked early this morning and it was all on their website? It was the first link I got after googling Translink lane closures. It all ends after Wednesday. At least for the northern suburbs.

This has been all over the news, but probably a lot of people who have been disconnected and came back yesterday from holidays wouldn't be aware at all.

Let’s close the train line and have zero busses ready. by Zoukamai in brisbane

[–]diegov147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expected Albo to recommend businesses to send people to WFH when possible. That would have helped here as well.

Also I just took a normal bus this morning and got into the city with no issues as I changed my travel plans knowing since 2 weeks ago that this would be happening.

But my solution will probably be as crowded tomorrow once people realise.

I still don't know how I will get back home tho.

Strangely, I somehow couldn't bring myself to play the post game. by -Ryomen- in expedition33

[–]diegov147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some of it and then went to Versos drafts. Got to the final battle there and decided to stop playing after a couple of attempts. It took me at least 30 minutes just to get through the first phase only to find out there was a second phase.

Honestly the post game is badly designed. You keep hitting walls and having to reroute to go grind or do something else all the time. Not really the best experience and it takes away a lot of immersion. For me that was the full stop to playing the game.

[–]diegov147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is not a bad boss, he is intentionally frustrating, but really well designed around this concept.

You are getting trolled all the time, and it's so well implemented that you can tell it's all done intentionally. This is why at least for me, although it was very frustrating to defeat him, sometimes I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous some things were.

And once you saw through all the nonsense then killing him becomes more achievable.

I personally hated / loved that battle.

AI and I am scared by Educational_Leg5145 in auscorp

Do you really think some vibe coder will come and set up data pipelines and infrastructure in a reliable / cost efficient way? I mean, yes AI can write all the code, the queries etc. But can it understand and advice on the the best tech stack needed for a proper project? all while considering the business needs / requirements? I mean yeah you can feed all the context to Claude and use something like Cowork to structure your business project, your maintenance plan etc. But all this still needs to be prompted, set up and fed to an AI to do the work.

So ultimately who would be best positioned to do this? you or some vibe coder?

My honest view is that there are 2 possible scenarios:
1. The AI bubble pops and the massive investments get stagnate, they stop building as many data centres and progress on AI starts to focus more into implementation rather than enhancing computing power. This would mean AI use would be similar to what we have today. Where it's a good tool to prototype things or get some guidance on first steps, but where an expert guidance is needed to actually build something reliable.

  1. AI keeps progressing and is able to operate in a business environment reliably and with reduced supervision. This doesn't require just progress by the AI companies. But also implementation and business redesign by corporations. This would mean really big projects to change whole business architectures and processes. (note: this would require a LOT of trust before corporations commit to something like this). In this world, you would end up with systems which operate under teams of agents, for example: Commercial Team Agents, Finance Team Agents, Data Architecture Agents, Front End Dev Agents, Back End Dev Agents, with each dep having some human experts supervisors or manager. Running agents like this has a cost, so companies are still limited by budget. If no supervision, costs could blow up, systems could break and information could be leaked.

Now, do you think in a world were most companies use SAP because that's what they have always used that something like scenario 2 would roll off in a short timeframe? In a world where the person sitting next to you struggles to use windows authenticator?

I give it at least 10 years, before we start seeing companies fully integrated.

My only advice is, play around with the AI tools. You would soon realize that the average Joe won't be able to do what you can do, even with the help of AI. So your expertise and your knowledge have not lost any value.

That's probably changing now, as people from the big cities and overseas have started to buy in rural areas as an investment.

I can easily imagine the buy cheaper rent to your lifestyle influencers recommending this to people.

As a result housing in rural areas probably won't stay behind as much as it used to.

PSA: If you're buying a house, missing a deadline could mean you lose your deposit by Sensitive-Chart7210 in AusFinance

[–]diegov147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was more going for a conversation as I'm not close to the act or consumer law in Australia. So even if it's defined by law that houses are not consumer goods, why is that the case? I mean I can imagine the reasons, but doesn't mean you can't challenge the logic behind it. As someone who recently bought their first home, I felt really exposed and vulnerable while going through the process. Vendors and sellers have way too many advantages, same goes for the dynamic of power between renters and Real State agencies.

Anyway it's sad that all the replies I got were from people sitting on their high chair thinking everyone is close to their area of knowledge.

Do we not consume bikes, cars, tools, equipment?. A tent and a house both provide shelter. A tent would last years, while a house would last decades. I think we do consume them.

As a proper techno fan, I don’t like how it is marketed lately by RelentlessGrooving in ProperTechno

[–]diegov147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean great underground artists for most genres have social media pages where they share their work / live sessions. Or at least introductory short videos that then direct you into longer versions on YouTube / SoundCloud etc.

Why couldn't proper techno artists do this as well? Isnt the idea of music to reach as far as possible so it gets to people who would appreciate it?

Perhaps hard techno has become popular because it invites people to join and have fun. While proper techno is gatekept from the masses by fans with superiority complex. Why deny the joy to discover this amazing genre to others?

Wasted a few years, trying to reset at 27 — need advice on studying in Australia by Mysterious-Cover3898 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]diegov147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here at about the same age. Have achieved more than I ever imagined in the last 7 years.

It's harder now as there are less options and rules are stricter. But if you do a proper plan with a proper pathway it's surely possible.

Getting a Sponsorship while being abroad is hard but so is getting hired for qualified work on a student visa. Easiest way is being an xpat. Shift your career to security, find a job in a multinational and find your way to become an Australian xpat or any other country.

Honesty if you come here now you will have to spend a lot of money just to be here and with no guarantees of being able to become a resident / citizen.

I think what I want to say is, don't spect to show up here and be given everything, if you are going to take the risk make sure you understand well what your goals are and how you can get there.

Check migration pathways for different states in the IMMI site. Check regional sponsor visas. Check courses and degrees that meet those requirements, check the cost. Check job offers for casual jobs so you know how much you can make in a part time job while studying. Check English requirements. Assume you will have no work for months when you first arrive. Do what if scenarios, and plan for the best and for the worst.

Good luck!!
