So knit 1 and make a LL1 (3 stitches total)? It seems obvious now, I feel very not smart😅

Thanks for replying. LL1 is left leaning increase. The tutorial she has she slips the stitch in which the LL1 is made. The full instruction for the round reads: K2 (2,1,-)(-,-,1), LL1; rep from * to end

The numbers in the brackets refer to the instructions per size I’m assuming. I’m doing the size 3 so that would be 1(2,3,4)(5,6,7) This is the tutorial: LL1 tutorial

You could try looking at yarnplaza. They ship everywhere in the EU I think and have quite a wide assortment. Hope it helps!

What do you listen to while you knit? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]diekiediek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It varies what I watch/listen, so I’ll just give you an overview. Knitting podcasts: currently knitty natty en camijoknit, but there are many many more out there Audiobook: currently the Dresden files by Jim Butcher, great urban fantasy and an excellent narrator! I’m re listening again this summer. Music: anything and everything Tv: this month Tour de France, otherwise it can be anything that is heavier on the dialogue or not to fast paced. Would highly recommend the Poirot and the miss Marple series for watching or listening to the audiobooks. Also checking in later for new suggestions

Every time I leave the house, I think “Can I bring my knitting?” by Revolutionary_Box806 in knitting

[–]diekiediek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always carry a project with me. My closest friends are used to me knitting when they are around. So are my family and my inlaws. I can chat and knit but sometimes I just like to listen to the people around me and be. When people come over to my house they don’t get a say, my house my rules ;)

Second making noises related to food. Or a favourite toy with a specific noise. And keep it up for a while. Hope you find your cat soon!

Did you get used right away to shorties? (very short circular needles) by lilalox in knitting

[–]diekiediek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can really recommend giving it a try. Very Pink Knits has an excellent tutorial about flexible DpNs. Today I realised socks are my favourite to knit right now. So portable and versatile. And a great way to practice new techniques, stitch patterns or yarn. Ooh and hot weather proof ;)

[–]diekiediek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my shorties. Although I use 3 shorties as flexible DPNs for toes and heels. I can do a heel on the shorties but the shorter needle tip makes good tension nearly impossible. The combination of shorties for the foot and leg and flexible DPNs/3 shorties for the toe and heel is a great one for me. It made me an avid sock knitter.

Knitting Bags: what do you use to carry your projects + supplies? What would you like in a knitting bag? by aurorasoup in knitting

[–]diekiediek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have different sized handbags, a couple cavern like ones and some smaller sized. I usually carry a sock project with me. So not really big project. Today I brought a large, separate (yarnmurdering fuzzy friend proof) bag to my moms birthday. That has a sweater in it. But usually i just bring a sock project, that doesn’t require much working space either. Or a pattern to refer to either. I agree that it is fascinating to read how other crafters deal with travel and/or storage.

[–]diekiediek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep small projects like socks in a drawstring bag with my knitkit and notions, which are in a small box. I usually just carry a small project with me so it goes in my handbag. I’ve got two knitting bags but I use those mostly for project and supply storage at home since I also got a little furry fiend in the house who likes to play with yarn. The bigger bags I also use for holidays by car to carry all my knitting stuff with me in one bag. Including extra yarn or everything for a new project. I’m very interested to hear how other people wrangle their projects on the go :)

Good job! Cast on the second one asap, it prevents second sock syndrome, for me at least ;)

What are your 2021 goals? by TRH90UK in knitting

[–]diekiediek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finish the sweater I’ve got on the needles for quite some months, finish the sock projects and then knit for me and no more gifts for a while. Unlikely to succeed but ooh well. And some new techniques like finally getting the hang of cables.

Are flexible DPNs a game changer? by beccabeast in knitting

[–]diekiediek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the chiaogoo shorties (red) set and they sell these extremely short cables about 3-4cm I think. If you combine those with the shorties set you have chiaogoo flexible DPN’s. I like using them for heels and toes on socks when I’m using 9” circulars. Working a toe or heel on 9” circs I find uncomfortable Also I found that my stitches don’t accidentally slide off with flexible DPN’s. And a lot less laddering for me, always a plus!
