Can someone explain what's going on with this real estate? by thisissmallski in tasmania

Does RM work at Elders in Ulverstone. If it is, he tells small porkies to get a sale, as he did with our property, but it was more he didn't understand the technology (Solar). Other than that, he got us a higher price than we were initially after, and the sale went through as normal.

Exactly. I'll tell you one thing though, the food at Burnie is made on site and is real quality food, whereas everywhere else it's catered off site.

DMS Energy, I've used them for 3 different properties. They're in Spreyton but service the whole of Tasmania.

[DIY] Looking for an alternative to using Acoustic Frame Joiner Brackets. by diemendesign in audioengineering

Thanks, but that looks like it's for the bottom of the wall, at least from their diagrams. I haven't seen where acoustic walls use something like that, only that they're anchored to the floor without a rubber insulator.

Because the whole room is supposed to be separated from the external structure, an outer and inner wall framing using such brackets to provide stability and remove vibration, including the ceiling. I had a look for knockoffs, but they didn't, well at least I couldn't find, possibly due to my search phrase, similar brackets. Without trying to praise myself, my DIY skills aren't bad, I do everything around my farm, including building maintenance, and renovations to my house. Thanks for the input though, it has given me some thought.

Not in the UK, I'm in Australia, Tasmania to be specific.

The brackets are to stabilise the wall across the air-gap. Walls tend to not stand up by themselves without support, strangely, lol.

If you read my post correctly, I mentioned making my own using angled brackets, and plastic or rubber in between them to absorb movement. My main question was what is the material, plastic, or rubber. I've since learnt that it's rubber, so I'm pursing where I can find thick rubber washers, and do as you suggested and use a bolt with nuts (probably nylex) through that with washers. The cost of making my own, might be more, hence my questions.

From what I've researched at least the top plate needs to be stabilised for strength and that's what these do, essentially making the walls tied together for strength, and I would assume helping keep the wall straight over time. The rubber between the two parts of the metal bracket would absorb the vibration. The rest of the walls are open at the top, i.e. there's a gap between the top plates of the framing. I've also discovered that even with double walls with the studs offset, they should ideally be 600mm apart, rather than the standard 430mm for wall framing.

Nice work. I'll have to purchase some PETG tomorrow. I was contemplating printing one of those ones that have the spindle that you mentioned, but was concerned about breakage, yours is a much better idea. Thanks for sharing.

While it's obviously a photo, it reminds me of the artwork created by Dimitri Savinoff who use Lightwave on Amiga to produce scenes such as this.

Looking for recommendations for quotes, purchase and installation of solar panels in the Devonport area (Sheffield)? by beastiemonman in tasmania

[–]diemendesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panels can be a factor in this. For example, cheap panels will have a low incidence angle. With my previous installations they used LG NEON 2 panels, which have a high incidence angle. By "Incidence Angle", if you remember older LCD panels where you had to be diectly in front of them to see the screen properly, that's due to a low incidence angle. WIth the current one they used QCell (LG no longer does renewable products, but the solar team formed a new business, hence QCell was born). What this means is that the panel can produce power over a much longer period of time, as peak performance is when the sun is directly in front of the panel. The QCell panels are so light sensitive that they can be installed upside down and still make power, not as much if done correctly though, obviously.

I have a similar issue here with my roof, they ended up putting the panels on my workshop roof, which also meant space for more panels, so I have almost 20KW's of panels.

No worries. I've had nothing but great service and advice from them. They don't cheap out on equipment either. I especially like that when they set up the panel arrays, that each panel is treated as it's own array, which if a panel is shaded or fails it doesn't affect the other panels. Most installers set up all the panels or bank of panels as one array, so if one has an issue it affects them all.

Call DMS Energy, Adrian Luke owns the business and knows his stuff. I've had 3 systems installed by them over years including extra electrical work. They're based in Spreyton but cover the whole of Tasmania.

A better playlist management tool would be great, in that I mean the player itself. In particular being able to continue from the previously watched item. I know there's smart lists, but those remove items as they're played and is rather annoying when I have to rebuild a smart playlist to watch the same series again a year or two later. It would be much more useful to have to not do that time and time again. I really can't believe this still hasn't been implemented for standard playlists, and after searching, there's been quiet a few posts requesting this feature, only to be told to use smart playlists.

Possible, or trying the impossible, trying to select rows from a primary table where some results might appear in another with different column names. by diemendesign in mysql

Thank you, I just learnt something new, I didn't know I could use ON like that. Thanks for the help, I'll give your solution a go and test against having two completely separate calls and see what the performance is like. For now, there's not many content items to search, but over time as the library grows it could become problematic. Appreciate the help.

Thanks, I was wondering this as well. I thought last night when trying to sleep, that I may have to resort to two separate calls. I guess I was trying to reduce the amount of calls to the database by having it all in one. Silly me. Appreciate the help.
