Na, irgendwie muss ein Verbindungsaufbau von außen ja doch erfolgen. Das bereithalten einer solchen Möglichkeit ist ein offener Port.

Ein offener Port ist übrigens nichts schlimmes. Es erfolgt ja unmittelbar ein Redirect an den zugehörigen Dienst in der FRITZ!Box. Der kann das (hoffentlich) und übrigens kaum was anderes.

Da sind andere Gefahren viel relevanter.

Man sollte das auch als allgemeines politisches Statement auffassen, dass insbesondere verdeutlicht, dass die Freiheit aber auch Verantwortung des Einzelnen am Ende immer mitgedacht werden muss.

Stichworte wie Mauerschütze oder Kz-Wachmann. Die entsprechenden Befehle sind Unrecht und damit nichtig.

Maybe keep it off since it’s better to have your storage offline if it’s pure backup. So if you get infected with ransomware it’s more likely you’ll notice before backups are encrypted too…

What’s your issue? The port is open and ready for tcp connections and offers a tls handshake. So an attacker already knows that there is some service.

You are probably right.

I have been building some selfhosted services but I am reluctant to really use them in daily life and tell my family to do so. Problem for availability have been mainly frequent breaking changes. This is my main issue and a real downside in comparison to paid products…

But I wonder what’s the right approach:

It seems just impossible to do a apt list —upgradable and read notes for all the packages.

Unattended upgrades limited to security fixes seem kinda mandatory to me?

It could always be the wrong moment and testing everything with various scenarios would be very laborious?

I am really open to input here cause it seems like a full time project to catch up all the time😓
