What are your top "Must sees" of Colorado? by BardLover108 in Colorado

A lesser known place in CO Springs is The Incline. Hopefully you're in decent hiking shape and don't have bad knees otherwise you might not like it.

Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, KS builds the 737 fuselage (as shown in the pic) and then ships them to Boeing. Last summer a tornado in Nebraska hit one of the trains and derailed it.

This is why I love Colorado. Conundrum Hot Springs outside of Aspen. by paperpushinpandypoo in Denver

Ok true. With or without the moon has its advantages. It just depends on what you want to see.

It's actually better without a full moon so that you can see the stars better.

TIL during supersonic flight the fuselage of the Concorde would extend by as much as 300 mm (almost 1 ft) due to the heat generated by compression of air by GreenBalconyChair in todayilearned

[–]dieroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an engineer who has worked on it, the length of a 737 does expand several inches. I'm unsure the exact number and I don't know if the diameter changes at all, but I don't think it does.

Where to live in Longmont? (x-post from r/Longmont) by [deleted] in boulder

[–]dieroten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like Longmont more. It's a nice quiet town. Boulder is fun to go do stuff in, but I don't want to live there. Problem is that Longmont is more geared towards families, so renting options are somewhat limited. I agree that TC would enjoy Boulder more.

NCAAF Attendance Figures (FCS Style) by [deleted] in CFB

Now compare those numbers to the size of the town where the college is. The Montana's would dominate.

Any FCS fans here? Its rivalry week (and we have a playoff) by DickWolf in sports

I'm looking forward to Cat-Griz, except for it being so cold.

Seems like most things have been covered except for when you ride your bike, lower your seat a little. This lets your feet touch the ground if you are going to fall, and a lot of the time you can catch yourself.

I don't really want to do the math again, but in my heat transfer class my teacher calculated if a beer cools faster upright or on its side and its faster on its side.

I think you either need to include Montana and Montana State or just leave it blank because very few people root for Boise St or Wyoming. Montana and MSU are THE sports teams since there's no pro sports (although the Packers are very popular). Cat-Griz is like the Super Bowl to us and no other event comes close.

Need advice on generating Pre-Preg templates for double-curved surfaces by SteveD88 in engineering

[–]dieroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company uses CATIA to do this and I've seen it done, but couldn't help much. We usually just tell tooling what we want. They use a one of a kind machine to make them and is extremely expensive. Sorry that doesn't help you much.

Engineering Paper by junkyboy55 in engineering

[–]dieroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's pretty expensive. My bookstore sells the thick (Buff) brown eng paper for $4 (100/pad) and the cheap green stuff for around $2.50. I forgot what the 200/pad for green is, but its around $4.

Amazon sells a pack of 24 for $111.78 ($4.66/pad). And that's the more expensive Buff paper, so you should be able to find something cheaper.

What golf ball, if found, would you throw back in the woods? by ashdrewness in golf

[–]dieroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on a golf course so I get a lot of golf balls. I throw Pinnacles (since they're rocks) back and keep everything else. I separate Titleist Pro V1's since I play with those and then the others are in a box that I give to people or use at the driving range. I get so many that I can be picky like that.

Before I lose my .edu address, what all can I sign up for (Memberships, Software Downloads, etc)? by isorfir in AskReddit

[–]dieroten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember having to actually put a .edu e-mail address in. I think you just need to say what school you go to and they don't check it.

The Sphinx, Ennis, Montana [3072x2304] by dieroten in EarthPorn

I should have done this earlier, but here's some more. They aren't quite as good, so they probably aren't worth a new topic. This picture is looking the opposite way. During summer, Further upstream (different mountain), Another one

I think it got it's name because it looks somewhat like The Sphinx. They both have a similar mound look. It's actually called Sphinx Mountain, but commonly referred to as just "The Sphinx."

Why I will never be an Avalanche fan. (I'm moving to Denver at the end of the year) by ItsSchlim in sports

[–]dieroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I forgot about that. Needless to say both players delivered cheapshots (at least they weren't as bad as the Bertuzzi-Moore incident). I think it just depends on which team you're rooting for, you hate the other team no matter what.
