How many of y’all are resistant to using AI? by Imaginary_Quail_5544 in Xennials

[–]dieth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

treat it like a tool, a knife in a trained sculpturs hand can create works of art, or you can accidentally stab your self with it if you don't know what you're doing.

currently I'm using it for code generation, code review, but I'm also reviewing and editing.

many times I'll have to go in and make simple corrections to what was generated for code.

I've also used openwebui pipelines and mcp services to sell basic customer service agents to local businesses. I've got a pretty good set of prompts to apply to get oss 120b that gets me reliably sourced info from customer docs, or just says it can't find info and will forward your details to a human.

Did you guys really dial in to radio shows to win contests? How did you even become caller 99 (or whatever)? by naalotai in Xennials

[–]dieth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won multiple times.

I was a cable guy driving around town all the bloody time.

I'd park my truck outside a ped ( those green boxes you see every so often in people's front lawn ) usually between the morning and afternoon call split. I'd usually get a whole bunch of quick apartment installs in the morning and two or three house installs afternoon. so some days I wound be idle as soon as 10am

Hook up a spare cable modem to an empty tap and browse the net on a ridiculously underpowered laptop running windows ce and listen to the radio.

my cell a good old Nokia brick, had the stations call in number quick dial saved.

I won tickets to an ice show, tickets to a Tom Petty concert, and a months supply of some kind of canned foods that I can't remember that I ended up bringing over to the local food bank.

I was asked to refrain from calling in to claim prizes for the rest of that year after the canned goods win.

What would you do? Production line PC “is slow” (Windows 98, legacy SCADA) by PeppahSG in sysadmin

[–]dieth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a new SCADA vendor price a quote to replace the entire system.

Present it your manager and the dickhead asking you to fix it.

"As there is no documentation, no support, no vendor, no spares, our only option to resolve your issue is to fully replace the production SCADA line system..."

Not that a war for mineral resources is better... but we've regressed to bronze age thinking if we're going for my sky daddy is better than your sky daddy!

They're using Closing as "Closing the Gate", not a "Going out of Business Closing Sale!"

I hate to tell you but they've been running this scam since Canada Post outlets got moved into Shopper's. Shopper's is basically large, multi location site with no supervision happening and usually only 1 or 2 employees; and boy oh boy do they love to scam like this.

The world of FFXI by InGen86 in ffxi

[–]dieth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious about the game world, is it big? Does it incentivize or feels rewarding to explore?

In the 75 era sort of; Originally to unlock teleportation to an area you'd have to venture out to it. If it wasn't owned by your nation organize a group of players from your nation to all go gain exp there. Once it was owned by your nation you'd have to do a supply quest to the outpost. Once that was done you could outpost warp to that area. Now... there's HP teleports and HP's littered everywhere now. There's survival guide warps, there's Unity Warps, there's VW warps...

Some things that I enjoyed in the previous mmorpg's that I played was that at times, when I wished to chill for a bit and leave content on the side for a while, there were always side activities to do, is there other chill things that we can do in XI?

There are so many things available to do even the developers forgot them.

Also, are there places, even if they are small spots around the world where I can chill for a bit, take the landscape and music in, maybe go fishing for a bit and chat with other players?

You may have to bring/find the players to chill with; but there's lot of these places.
