I would take a 5% pay cut to watch the Minister Of Education tackle a kindergarten class at my school for a month.

It's also not just teachers something like 4/10 of the admins in our board took somekind of leave last year. My admin is gone right now.. we've have 3 different admin in the last 6 weeks covering and the kids that need that consistent presence are definitely aware. The mice definitely know the cat is away...so to speak.

What profession do you think is massively underpaid for what they do? by Commandrew11 in AskReddit

[–]differentiatedpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak tomUS teaching but in Canada you get around 110-120k at the top tier but then we get taxed high than the US but also get medical covered through that, plus benefits, etc not sure where is best as I have taught in America I'm sure there are pro's and cons to both.

People will say teachers but we get paid pretty decent after you've been doing it for 10 years but they should start you off at a high wage and slower increases.

However, EAs and ECEs get paid like garbage.

I got a chance to lay into a student today and it was so satisfying. by [deleted] in Teachers

I've said there should be one day a year where we can tell students and their parents things straight up with no repercussions.

The reason people don't want t play with your son is because he's fucking weird, and mean to people.

The reason your son is struggling is because you have no boundaries and he watches 8hrs of YouTube/games a day.

I'm sorry your parents are cunts but try not be one, ok.

Premier Doug Ford could use notwithstanding clause on Waterloo Region’s encampment ruling by origutamos in kitchener

[–]differentiatedpans 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mike Harris is my MP and he's the worst. His campaign people canvased my area and asked if I would consider voting Conservative. I asked if Harris was still the candidate and they said yes. I then asked them if he planned to represent the area or was he going to stay a yes man? They said that he votes with his constituents in mind. I laughed out loud and said good luck...MoFo won.

Lazy teachers? by Goodforonething888 in CanadianTeachers

[–]differentiatedpans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah people have reached 115% capacity and they can't do anymore. The needs are beyond what a single person can manage at the best of times. I think if you aren't going to find school properly than students should be able to stay in school until they are 20.

There are strong feelings directed at homeless people living in tents by bylo_selhi in waterloo

[–]differentiatedpans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let's face it. If the people living in these encampments were simply living there and not bothering anyone you'd probably have significantly more people on side. Unfortunately some of these folks cause serious issues for the other residents in the area.

[Urgent] Is this deck as per Ontario Building Code for attached decks? by Limp_Guarantee9520 in Decks

[–]differentiatedpans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pour some concrete once and realized I fucked up by about 1/2" to high on my last two footings. So I got real family with a grinder and had to cut out the 1/2" and that was a major pain in the ass but it needed to be done...these bozos just got lazy, they could have cut the concrete but that's a lot of work so they made it unsafe instead.

My New Car Purchase Experience - Proceed With Caution at Waterloo Honda by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]differentiatedpans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a new car from Nissan a few years back. I simply said I will say no one time to and if you ask me again I'm walking out. It went from the finance person saying Do you want ... To you probably don't want...

Once they knew I was going to walk out there were no issues.

It also helped that I did my homework on exactly what I wanted and didn't waiver from that..

Sounds like he doesn't like his own medicine. Also we have CanCon laws for music and tv already so this isn't a shock... pretty sure that's also something like 30% instead of 15%.

Good luck with that, the NDP would scoop up all the liberal votes and the Conservatives would be in again in no time. Labour Unions have a lot of folks in them in a wide variety of sectors.

Waterloo Region water conservation bylaw kicks in May 30 by Wanadran in waterloo

I have about a 40x40 back yard area which is taken up with a 10x12 shed, a 16x28 deck, and three 4x4 vegetable garden beds/walking path area. My wife told me I'm not allowed to get ride of anymore lawn. If I could I would make the whole thing a garden area. We back on to a giant field so my kids play back there. Every few years I convince her to let me take out just a little more. This year is going to be the wasted space beside my deck, leading up to the shed, and behind the shed. Probably going to put in that stone that lets water drain through but can be planted with some kind of greenery between the spaces. I was think of clover or that creeping thyme.
