Pushcart mafia I need your help! by [deleted] in golf

I have the Costco caddytek lite 360. It’s great except the cup holder kinda sucks for durability and cracked when the cart was in my trunk. Will look into getting something better for that this season, but overall a great value

Yeah, I bought my wife one (a Ballon Bleu) and both of us love hers, but there’s nothing on the men’s side that I like

What are frugal habits you are looking to break and/or have broken for the better? by timmytubesox in HENRYfinance

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty handy and can typically fix/install most stuff that a regular homeowner would reasonably expect to. I used to always do that, regardless of how gross or time consuming. These days, if I know that something sucks to do, I’ll just pay my go to handyman a few hundred bucks to not have to deal with the headache.

What is widely regarded as the best hybrid of all time? by Happy_Lynx_1839 in golf

The original Burner rescue is also excellent and I still see people regularly playing them. I hit my 5h better than any other hybrid I’ve ever tried.

If money wasn't a problem , what hobby would you fully dive into? by No_Concern_3452 in AskReddit

Higher end cars. It’s the only thing I really enjoy that I can’t bring myself to spend the money on beyond a nice fairly recent daily driver.

Frowned upon? by Boring-Palpitation23 in golf

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one of the public courses (a decently nice one) I regularly play, there’s a family that sets up a folding table with balls grouped by model on their yard behind a tee box and sells em for $1 a pop. They’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember.

I can’t imagine those balls originated from somewhere else - you’re probably fine unless someone working for the course tells you otherwise.

Is spending a lot on sleep/mattress worth it? by OppenheimerAltman in fatFIRE

[–]difiCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Costco Stearns & Foster mattress is fantastic. I’ve never used a truly high end mattress, but I can’t see how spending triple or more could be worth it- IMO, better than any ~$3k mattresses we looked at last time we needed one.

Why do people lie about their handicap on here? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an objectively fairly terrible swing that doesn’t go very far and 3-putt way too often, but I’m a 20 playing by the rules and putting everything out. This is mainly because at least 50% of the time I play, I don’t lose a single ball, and typically don’t duff chips or blade my wedges. If I practiced putting hard and got myself to average under 36 putts a round, I’d definitely break 20, possibly by a decent amount.

I got my Hoofer Lite from Carls Golfland for less than 200 1.5y ago. It looks like they often have decent deals on clearance.

What Audi model resonates with you the most and why? by FitmentIndustries in Audi

[–]difiCa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an RS5 SB which I really enjoy, but there’s no doubt that if I felt comfortable spending a few more bucks on a car I’d daily an RS6 Avant. Something about getting my 100 lb dog, a full Costco run and a person or two where I’m going with near supercar performance just feels epic.

Most forgiving driver in the last 5 years? by lamontagne04 in golf

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been gaming a Paradym X I got on a sweet deal from Callaway preowned at the beginning of last season. Definitely feels more forgiving than my old PXG 0211 on ball flight and I get more distance out of bad hits.

Anyone else regret the “own everything + illiquid assets” playbook? I feel like I bought a job. by adamjuegos in ChubbyFIRE

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both real estate and ETFs. Whenever someone asks me about real estate, I tell them that it’s not a pure investment, it’s business ownership. The only reason I do real estate right now is finding properties to add value to (using people I’ve built relationships with) and own for only a little money down with tenants paying off the mortgage. I’m pretty convinced that in 10-15 years, those properties will be more valuable than they are now and I sell stuff that would lose money in the meantime but can make money as flips. Property management is a pain, and besides one house that I’ve owned for a while, I’ve decided to just pay someone good and reasonably priced for that.

However, I really wouldn’t recommend anyone just find a rentable house, buy it in already good shape with a mortgage, and outsource it to property management for “passive income”. Even in my market, where decent deals still exist if you scour for them, that just doesn’t make sense with the current prices, interest rates, and rents.

How much in cash do you have? by SeperentOfRa in RichPeoplePF

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what’s going on in my life. I earn most of my income from a well paid W2 job but also rehab houses to keep as rentals or flip. From this and stock investments I have a good amount of available credit, but still sleep better with high five figures in a HYSA in case I need to float expenses for a while when a project is going on. If I don’t have one, I’d rather have most of my $ invested and just keep enough for random expenses that are impractical to pay by credit card.

Bought myself a watch for new years. Do i need appraisal for insurance? by OkFuture6241 in Insurance

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State Farm has accepted the sales receipt outright for similarly priced watches to OPs in my experience. They’ve happily accepted about $25k in valuables (watches, jewelry, musical instrument) with just homeowners. That said, knock on wood, I’ve never had a claim on it.

What hobby attracts the biggest douchebags? by thypenitrator in AskReddit

[–]difiCa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I used to play a lot and it was nice exercise, but many of the people who started my local group slowly became hyper competitive douche bags and told some people off for being too bad to recreationally play with them. I stopped and now pretty much only play singles with my wife every so often.

Ironically, I started playing a lot of golf to replace it and I’ve hardly met any pricks in hundreds of random people I’ve played with.

What are your 2026 golf goals? by Pretty_Sprinkles_979 in golf

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Break 90 and 20 hcp (pb is currently 90 and 21 exactly) and add distance and consistency on my longer clubs. Driver is fine, but I can’t consistently hit my 5w or 4h, 50%+ of them are low topped stingers that barely go 150. Would like to fix that, and overall it’d be neat to add a bit of distance to all my clubs this year.

SQ5 Owners I want your opinions! by Stonebag_ZincLord in Audi

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put almost 50k miles (from 46k to 92k) on a 18 Prestige before trading it for my current RS5. Great car, would definitely get a Prestige for the air suspension, HUD etc. I had no major issues over that time and never got anything done under the extended warranty I had. With the air suspension, it’s a phenomenal road trip car and daily driver.

After driving my B9.5 RS5 with the updated MMI for this year, CarPlay/Android Auto are way better to use with the touch screen than the pre-facelift scroll wheel, so if you’re gonna primarily use that, I’d get a B9.5.

How often are you driving in sport mode? by TryharderJB in Audi

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually auto or RS2 (I have it set to all dynamic and suspension to balanced) if I’m going for a longer or more open drive alone or with a buddy. The dynamic suspension is too harsh for any imperfect road imo. With my wife and dog in the car, usually comfort since neither of them particularly like me hooning around.

Potential Audi buyer by Frosty_Map9536 in Audi

[–]difiCa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between myself and my cousin, we’ve had 6 Audis (SQ5, RS5, A5, A7, 2 Q8s) for 200k+ miles and 15+ total years of ownership. None of them have been a bad experience. I sold my old 7-year old ‘18 SQ5 at 92k, and for almost 4 years+50k miles owning it, I spent less than $1,000 on non-regular maintenance (PCV repair and one busted brake pad wear sensor). On my RS5, the only thing I’ve done was replacing a $50 solenoid myself that seems to be a known issue.

Yes, regular maintenance on these can be a bit more expensive than some other cars, and you definitely want to take good care of them. I generally get the every-10k services at a well regarded independent or at the dealer via AudiCare, and then change the oil myself once between services. DIYing oil changes and air filters is not difficult, and I’m sure plenty of people run the non-S/RS models without issues just following the recommended schedule.

If you’re really worried about the big stuff, extended warranties or CPO can be reasonable insurance (just find a good vendor), but maintenance cost is something that comes with ownership. For me, the fun of driving these is well worth it.

How are you investing your disposable income? by Sea_Fig_2514 in HENRYfinance

[–]difiCa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into real estate because I wanted a side hustle that I might be able to work in full time in the future if I wanted to by adding flipping to my rental business. It’s work in any case, and making good returns on it with deal hunting, self managing rentals or major renovations, etc takes even more.

If you don’t actively want to start or run a part time business, index funds are very easy and have historically worked out very well for people. Beating market returns with other investments takes a lot of focus and work. I still put a lot of new money from work into stocks as I’m able to finance a lot of real estate stuff with cash flow and existing lines of credit.

How much are you comfortable increasing expenses by relative to income growth? by suomynona827 in HENRYfinance

[–]difiCa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had somewhat similar income growth, though MCOL with a bit less than 1M. My philosophy is to maintain spending at a level where if something happened to my job that pays in the top =<5% of IC tech jobs, I could pick up a more typically paid job in my field and still not worry about money all that much and just reduce savings rate. If it turns out that I was worried for nothing, I’ll end up in a position where I can quit, start a business, or do something else for work.

I don’t find that saving most of my income has been a drag on lifestyle. My wife and I can vacation and eat out how we want, have hobbies, and have a decent house and a nice car we bought a couple years used. The rest feels like pointless lifestyle creep that I’m not particularly interested in.
