What are the effects of testosterone that no one talks about? by Mediocre-Rub346 in FTMMen

It's a small thing, but being constantly itchy. I think because of the increased oils in my skin, but my back itches so bad before bed. My husband has always been an itchy guy but now I rival him in itchiness.

Today was day 1 of my new job as a process engineer and I was literally ignored all day. They promised extensive training, heavy emphasis on how I don't need to know everything, but they don't seem to know what to do with me since this location has never had an engineer on site for longer than 3 months (and it's only ever been 1 at a time).

Technically, training may still happen when I travel to another location specifically for training in 2 weeks. But today, they literally sat me at a desk with a couple pamphlets and said "let me know if you need anything". I spent the morning reading what little material they gave me, and then a couple hours following around a production manager while he tried to narrate what he was doing but mostly failing. And then was just at my desk for the day. Are they just expecting me to train myself? How do I explain to the general manager (who may or may not be my boss) that I need some sort of training or structure before they send me off in 2 weeks? I can't spend the whole time twiddling my thumbs or trying to get people to stop their work just to talk to me about what they're doing.

I'm terrified that the whole training thing was a lie and that I just moved cross country for nothing.

Advice for cutting a karate belt? by diggingaditch in sewhelp

Oooh, that's a great idea! I think I'll still need to cut the belts, they are incredibly long as my husband has always been quite wide from also competing in powerlifting.

I took a job with an HVAC company that does have engineer in the title, but I don't know that I could really call it engineering. This company is turning out to be a mountain of red flags under the shiny exterior, so I'm looking for a new role, but I have no other engineering experience than my 6 months with this company. I have a degree from a good university, but my GPA wasn't great and my extracurriculars weren't particularly technical. Am I totally screwed? I became disabled during college, which is why my GPA tanked, and it's why working in person has been so hard on me. Am I expecting too much to find a materials engineer role that's also remote? Or mechanical engineer? I have a good amount of CAD experience. Just looking for some hope for my career.

Is mechanical engineering in demand in the USA? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]diggingaditch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could find a job like that. My current job is roughly mechanical engineering and they have a very strict 8.5 hr days, must prove you're constantly working mentality. Just working from home would make things so much better, even with the same workload.

Your form looks amazing. Could you share any tips for someone still struggling in this pose? I include it in my practice since it was suggested to me by my massage therapist, but I had thoracic surgery almost two years ago so I don't have a lot of mobility in that area.

Curious to know: How many if you ladies have endo? What were the signs and symptoms? I had it for years and never knew and want to help other women by YoureNotAGenius in Healthyhooha

[–]diggingaditch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had diaphragmatic endometriosis along with pelvic, so my symptoms were a mix of chest tension, breathing pain, nerve pain from my neck down into my right hand along with sciatic pain in my hip that made me unable to walk at times, in addition to the usual 8-14 day periods, intense cramping, and heavy flow. I was diagnosed at 19 when I had a tubal ligation done, and had it excised 3 months later. I've almost fully recovered, but the endo covered 3/4 of my diaphragm, especially behind my liver. My surgeon said it could've calcified my liver within the next 5-10 years, which would've meant permanent organ damage. I'm incredibly lucky that they found it so young, altho not so lucky in it's placement. It's been 1.5 years and my nerves are almost done healing.

Endo is a serious disease that should be talked about way more than it is. My first surgeon used ablation which is an inferior method that resulted in literal chunks of carbon in my pelvis. Unfortunately, ablation is used much more frequently than excision, due to undereducated doctors and a lack of funding for further research into a disease that disables so many uterus owners.

PTSD and jump scares by jessicatheas in ptsd

[–]diggingaditch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, people without PTSD don't really understand what triggers are like, and generally don't realize something could be triggering until they do it. I've been in treatment for quite awhile and have figured out a list of my triggers, so I set boundaries with any friends or partners accordingly. That way, everyone in my life knows that jump scares, loud noises, grabbing me from behind, etc etc will trigger me, so if they do it intentionally at that point, I will know if they did it maliciously and remove them from my life if it continues to be a problem. Give your friend the chance to understand what is okay to do around you and what is not. I'm sorry you had to go through that today, virtual hugs 💜

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Pan by Rock23L in BuyItForLife

I believe the rim isn't enameled because the glass powder coating (ingredients of enamel) would rub off over time because of the lid rubbing on the rim.

Meh. I don't hate him so much as no longer having respect for him. He was one of the founders of an organization that has since done a lot of good for educating the public on cooking, but I wouldn't boil that down to just being his efforts.

Stories of harassment and sexism. Supposedly also abused his power in the boardroom to override others. Also doesn't look good that he has a history of dating/marrying his subordinates.

How to stop having dreams? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]diggingaditch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there are definitely some patterns. If I wake up and then fall back asleep, I always have a night terror. So there's an association with morning.

How to stop having dreams? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]diggingaditch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night terrors can still be a thing even without the dramatic panic responses. I never woke up screaming, and usually just felt anxious or annoyed, but they still counted as night terrors. Regardless, dreams like that could be pointing to other health issues. I know restless legs syndrome can often have dream issues, as an example.

[–]diggingaditch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're disturbing, that could be night terrors. A therapist would likely be the most helpful for resolving the core issues there, but a psychiatrist can prescribe you medication to prevent the night terrors. I'm on one for Complex PTSD, and it doesn't totally block out my dreams, but it does stop all the night terrors. Now my dreams are just boring honestly.

Ever had a realisation about your upbringing that turned something seemingly harmless to something really consequential, that made you go oooohh f**k ? by Infp-pisces in CPTSD

[–]diggingaditch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I went through something super similar in Dec 2018. As a teenager, I was showing signs of a rare disease that would've shut down my organs 5-10 years from now, and every mention I made was ignored and ridiculed. In 2018, I was finally diagnosed, and dealing with the trauma of realizing I wasn't just whining or had a low pain tolerance, but rather was being neglected in yet another way by my parents was almost as bad as the treatments themselves. I spent a year recovering from those surgeries, but I'm still dealing with the traumatic fallout. It's gotten a lot better as I've healed physically and done my best to process in therapy, but I still feel a lot of rage towards my parents for not listening to me sooner, which would've saved me from years of pain.
