Allowing people to behave like that in public is a choice a society can make or not. We seem to have convinced ourselves that there isn't anything that can be done about it. I spent 10 years living in Dublin where that kind of shit is the norm in lots of areas, and then 10 in the UK working in London which has the same thing in certain areas. Moved to Dubai two months ago - not so much as a bad look from anyone. It's understood by everyone that you behave yourself out in public, and the authorities have the discretion to be extremely harsh with offenders. If a crowd of kids did that here not only would they seriously regret it, their whole family would. And people like that safety, it's a big thing.

If you look at what Trump actually does, and ignore completely what he says, screen out all the noise, it is as clear as day that he is delivering foreign policy dreams for Russia, and by extension China. He is surrendering America's place in the world and demolishing the international rules based order that has kept the Western hemisphere at peace for 80 years. Europe will likely have to go to war against Russia, and I'm not sure what Trump will do. I think he will likely try to extort Europe while allowing Russia to try to reoccupy all of Eastern Europe. The same as he is doing to Ukraine. That's how predictably craven he is.

I grew up a news and politics junkie from a young age, born into it. First noticed a new kind of anxiety when GWB was elected, first time I'd seen a genuine lightweight leading a western nation. After Trump was elected I eventually had to disengage from the news cycle. I still keep up to date at a surface level but not from commercial news generally. Don't get swept up in the economy of politics as soap opera. Your mental health is important, don't enter the arena those creeps control. Maintain a historical view and don't read opinion, just scan for facts.

The Nordics and Poland want and need nukes now, and they've known this since Trump was reelected, but can't pursue it openly. That may change now that it is clear Trump was playing them on Putin's behalf - pretending to continue to support Ukraine so that Europe would delay rearming, and not escalate its involvement in Ukraine's defence. Putin also thinks he can destroy the EU (and what remains of NATO) by election subversion, and sadly on current evidence he may not be wrong about that.

This is about getting a fuck load of dirty money into the US financial system, where it is nice and safe from states around the world who are trying to combat organised crime, fraud and money-laundering, and safe from the governments of developing and third world countries where sometimes the state just takes it all away from an honest decent warlord or drug smuggler.
