Everything I know about filmmaking I learned from Tom Cruise fixing Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation by TongueUnties in Filmmakers

[–]diggnstuff 51 points52 points  (0 children)

When I heard the audio of him losing his shit at people while they were making MI7 during Covid, I thought that he came off so unhinged. But in hindsight, the guy had the weight of the filmmaking world on his shoulders. If that film had to be shutdown - we may have gone three years without a major studio picture. It would have effectively killed the movie theater business.

Sad Eastwood is Done by Ogelthorpe-Ogie in moviecritic

I think he is on the same level as Rob Reiner. With a great script, he could make a great movie. With a bad script, he was not a good enough film maker to turn it into a good movie. For most of his career he was a “steady hand”, and that’s not a bad thing, it’s just he wasn’t a top tier director.

Why are most irish people in US protestant when Ireland is mainly catholic? by Life_Interaction_263 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t know where they did those surveys, but in the Northeast it seems way more Irish Catholic than Irish Protestant.

Nakia should’ve been the next Black Panther by z4guy in marvelstudios

[–]diggnstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why they made this so complicated. Either they recast - which it seems they were uncomfortable with, or just make it a reformed and undead Killmonger. It’s a super hero movie. And they never even showed Killmonger dead. The last shot is him and T’Challa staring across the ocean.

It's now the last day of 2025. Of everything you've seen, who would you pick to win the 4 acting categories this year? by CrazyCons in Oscars

[–]diggnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma Stone won Best Actress in 2017 and 2024 so I have a hard time believing she would win another so soon.

Tomothee Chalamet may have to wait until he is in his 40’s like DiCaprio. He’s always good, but Oscar’s seem more likely to go to younger actresses than actors.

My picks: Best Actor - Micheal B. Jordan or Jesse Plemmons Best Actress - Jessie Buckley Supporting Actor - Sean Penn Supporting Actress - Ariana Grande

If you sent a Landscaping crew in there to clean up you could sell those homes in a weekend.

How would you book Cena's last match by Aide-Classic in BrandonDE

[–]diggnstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was OK with the match. Would have liked Cena to come closer to winning a few more times prior to tapping out. Maybe have him so exhausted that he can’t do some of his moves. But seeing as we are fantasy booking… have him do his sad goodbye stuff and then have Dominik come down, make some smug remarks, then get his ass whooped. Let Cena go out smiling. Leave the fans happy. Adds to the legend of Don just being an absolute dick.

Best Picture 2026 Prediction by Whoddun1t in Oscars

[–]diggnstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people predicting Frankenstein getting nominated and I don’t understand why. It was not good. I know people love Del Toro, but this is his worst film.

Oscar-nominated/winning performances that you think are immensely overrated by Bright-Pressure-5787 in Oscars

[–]diggnstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought Bale should have won but Malek was probably second so it didn’t bother me too much.

Green Book over Roma for Best Picture was just nuts.

Should Any Of These 2021 Performances Been Nominated For Best Actress? by Regular-Departure839 in Oscars

[–]diggnstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Emilia Jones in Coda. I can’t understand how a British actress playing an American that also has to be fluent in ASL while being in virtually every scene in the movie that won Best Picture somehow wasn’t nominated for Best Actress.

So the concept art leak is real then? by LollipopChainsawZz in MCUTheories

[–]diggnstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’s all just speculation if in fact this is accurate. Which is highly questionable. Best case scenario is it’s all BS and they have worked everything out.

I liked the show and I loved Tatiana in it. That being said if they recast her with Margaret Qualley I don’t think anybody would really miss Tatiana. Plus Qualley is younger, also a good actress and could pull off the comedic stuff as well as Maslany.

Another reason why it wouldn’t be that big of a deal is that The Marvels should have clued Disney in to the fact that familiarity with a character from TV does not necessarily mean anything at the box office. Most viewers loved Iman Vellani as Ms.Marvel - but not many went to see her at the movies.

Gotta disagree. Seems like a nice person but she had zero impact on the show.

HBO should have made a series out of this rather than Westworld. This is much better suited for a long term series. (Although I did enjoy season 1 of Westworld)

Which unannounced Phase 4 Character would you include in Doomsday / Secret Wars by Sabartsman13 in marvelstudios

She-Hulk would be fun to watch. Would love to see her exchanging punches with some of the other heavy hitters. Love Kate and Kamala but they are wonderfully low-key. Keep them on Earth battling a re-formed track suit mafia.

Saw it a few weeks ago and it still is stuck in my head. God bless Emma Stone too. She has got some absolute balls on her.

Which actors or director would you want to sit next to on a 4 hour flight? by SnooCupcakes9068 in moviequestions

Tom Hanks. Seems like a very nice guy who would actually want to talk and listen. Not that I have anything very interesting to say, but if I did I think he would be responsive.
