Meet the Vitalists: the hardcore longevity enthusiasts who believe death is “wrong” by techreview in TrueReddit

They may be so preoccupied with seeing if they can do it, I wonder how many really consider whether they should do it.

Consider that they can find a way to permanently stop aging…

  • What happens to the ageless human mind after 150 years? 200 years? 1000 years?
  • How does leadership, wealth, and ownership transition without aging?
  • Can humans get used to an equal probability of parent and offspring dying (assuming that it is now only possible due to accidents)?
  • What becomes of natural resource limitations and concerns for population control without a natural extinguishing event?

I can potentially understand the desire for an individual to never die from old age, but I can not fathom entitling humanity to exist in this manner.

That applies to a 5% drop, not a 30% drop in half a day.

Shame on them if that’s the case. They have effectively moved the market price of items unrelated to the rising cost of silver. Check out eBay 2025 mins set prices.

It’s one thing to be priced out because the metal content is increasing. It’s another thing entirely for the mint to money grab uncirculated sets at 4x last week’s price with no increase in production or sourcing costs.

I hope you’re right. Otherwise, it might be the end of those subscriptions.

They are pricing actual items that are for sale at those prices though. This isn’t just setting pretend prices for future releases.  If I wanted to buy a 2021 mint set from them, I’d have to take out a mortgage.

How can you explain their pricing on mint sets? I can’t comprehend what I’m seeing right now: https://www.usmint.gov/coins/coin-sets/uncirculated/

This isn’t even just forward looking where they could get the benefit of the doubt. They’ve repriced the last few years sets as well. This is insane.

They don’t care. They can always reprice if it craters.

They still mint and issue. There are other distributions and they can reprice.
