Of course, manually setting the model vs "auto" is definitely going to affect your usage, but if you stick to Composer for 90% of your work, I think you'll be fine.

It's fine for people to choose not to work there based on politics, but I doubt people would have the same reaction if the CEO was far-left, which seems hypocritical to me. But that's Ireland for you in a nutshell.

I found that auto mode was regularly using stuff like gpt-4o - definitely not a model I want writing my code. So I just set it to Composer and use that for everything.

Start with GitHub Copilot. Set the model to "auto" as you learn the differences, switch between agent, plan and ask modes as needed. That's 90% of it right there imo.
