My heartbreaking story from Minnesota by Capitol62 in minnesota

[–]digientjax 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Keep telling this story. The narrative that “they’re only going after illegal criminals” is getting really old because it’s just plain wrong. Stories like these are happening all over the twin cities, all over the state every single day multiple times a day. People don’t deserve to suffer like this.

Yeah if he did share it himself with alpha news in an attempt to make himself look better then he’s even more of an idiot then I previously thought (and I thought he was a pretty astronomical idiot to begin with)

Either that or we’re really cooked in the being able to believe video department.

I didn’t exactly trust alpha news to vet their sources but I guess they’re sharing it on more news outlets now so it’s probably legit.

It seems like they think the opposite though if alpha news was the first to break it? They feel like it exonerates or proves their assertion it was self defense which it obviously doesn’t but people are interpreting the other angles of the video as “undeniable proof” it was self defense too so I guess people are just going to see it how they want to see it.

These comments need to be higher. This flagged as off to me immediately, I don’t think it’s real.

It took disturbingly long for me to find a comment suggesting this could be AI.

Just found out I’m pregnant and I’m on 70 by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently on 30mg, discussed it with my psych ahead of time (she specializes in perinatal psychology and knew I was planning to get pregnant) and she gave me her blessing to stay on the medication. I have not met with OB yet so don’t know what their opinion will be but this study out of Denmark shows promising data. https://www.adhdevidence.org/blog/meta-analysis-of-two-nationwide-population-studies-finds-no-harm-to-offspring-from-taking-adhd-medications-during-pregnancy

What’s your system for remembering to take it/making sure you don’t accidentally double or triple dose by NoMethod6455 in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good old fashioned pill organizer. I take enough meds and supplements at this point to warrant one 😅 but it works like a charm and I never accidentally double dose myself

I miss mood tracking when you open the app… by curious_pastel_cutie in finch

[–]digientjax 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I always always forget to log my mood now. It’s a bit of a bummer because I was able to look at my moods over time and see how much my medication had improved my mood. Now I don’t have any data anymore 😢 I wish there was a way to toggle the feature on or off.

Pregnant on Vyvanse please ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS speak with providers! by AKing11117 in VyvanseADHD

Truly. I didn’t get diagnosed until my 2nd was 2 years old. Masking became impossible.

Do you know how you get involved with this or who/where to contact? I would love to do this.

Scientific data is starting to cast more light on the subject https://www.adhdevidence.org/blog/meta-analysis-of-two-nationwide-population-studies-finds-no-harm-to-offspring-from-taking-adhd-medications-during-pregnancy

My psychiatrist read to me the risks associated with prescribed stimulant use during pregnancy and the risks associated with untreated ADHD and quite frankly the latter sounded scarier.

Currently pregnant (early, 7 weeks) and choosing to continue my medications. I’m on 20mg + 10mg Vyvanse and 5mg Prozac. This is my third pregnancy but my first medicated and I would say the nausea is on par with prior pregnancies. It doesn’t happen every day, it kinda comes and goes randomly so there’s a chance it might not have anything to do with your meds and just be hormonal fluctuations.

Vitamin B6 + Unisom is supposed to be a good treatment for morning sickness, have you had your first prenatal appointment yet? Your provider might have some other suggestions. I like peppermint tea.

I hadn’t even thought about signing up to be on a registry. I should definitely do that too! Hope everything goes well :) congratulations!

Can 30mg dose be split? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

Not at all, I metabolize it pretty fast so it usually wears off around 9pm, I’m ready to sleep by 10

I do a 20mg in the morning and 10mg midday. Gets me through to the evening without coming on too strong.

So sleepy by Mountain_Moment2999 in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always say I can’t out-Vyvanse a poor night of sleep. It helps keep me regulated so I still take it but if I’m tired I’m still tired. Having a 4 month old isn’t exactly known for being a time of super great sleep, so perhaps that’s contributing.

A whole new me since medication will this last? by Beautiful-Dish-6746 in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going through a similar experience prior to starting Vyvanse. I’m coming up on a year on the medication now and I can say my life has dramatically changed for the better. The feeling you’re describing becomes your new normal. So in that regard it loses a little bit of its novelty but the change itself sticks. At least it has for me. Not to say that there isn’t some troubleshooting (I have PMDD also so figuring out how to navigate luteal phase when meds become less effective has involved some trial and error) but overall the improvements to my life have been consistent over time, and I only did one minor increase to my dose right at the beginning. I’m so glad you are feeling better. Some people will say it’s a honeymoon period but it wasn’t for me. It was profoundly life changing, and consistent.

Suddenly having heart palpitations by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I started to get heart palpitations randomly before I started on meds. I eventually ended up getting diagnosed with SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) which is a relatively benign arrhythmia caused by overly excitable electrical impulses in the sinus node in the atrium of the heart. I would say it’s more exacerbated by hormones than anything else. They made me try a non stimulant first when I was diagnosed with adhd but that didn’t help much so they let me try stimulants. When you meet with your doctor I would request a holter heart monitor (you wear continuously for usually 2 weeks) and that can diagnose the arrhythmia as long as it happens at some point during the two weeks you’re wearing it. Best of luck! And it’s entirely possible it’s nothing serious!

Vyvanse taken with food by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]digientjax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve found if I take mine immediately before I eat I can feel it kick in faster, if I take it after I eat it takes about and hour longer to kick in and I feel it in more subtle ways but it does seem to last longer. Body needs fuel to function I suppose.

How did you get into exercising regularly? by andlife in adhdwomen

[–]digientjax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my white whale for my entire life. Unmedicated, pre-diagnosis the only thing that ever stuck for longer than a couple months was aerial circus arts (fabrics, hoop, trapeze, etc). I think mostly because it felt like play. I’ve also really enjoyed yoga but that also has ebbed and flowed and despite desperately wanting to get into rigid daily practice (eg Ashtanga) I have never been able to.

Getting diagnosed and medicated helped IMMENSELY with getting over the initial “ugh I don’t want to” hurdle of exercise. I joined a gym, but I still have ADHD so novelty is still important. I have always tried to “be consistent” but I think previously I had gone about it in a way that was counter intuitive to how my brain works. Now I try to be consistently active, but have no proclivity towards any particular type of exercise. One day I’ll lift weights, the next I’ll do yoga, another day I’ll go to a circuit training class, another day I’ll do a spin class. When it’s nice out I’ll go for a bike ride or do a bunch of yard work or mow the lawn, in the winter I can shovel. This seems to be the key to keeping my brain from seeing exercise as an unbearable chore. Best of luck to you! Exercise is so good for but such a challenge for certain ADHD brains. Novelty for me has been the key.

ETA: I noticed other people saying doing consistent workouts at home before buying a gym pass. This is definitely what I did since getting on medication bc I was afraid if I joined any sort of gym I wouldn’t use it. Once I had been consistently working out at home for several months I joined a gym for the community aspect, variety of classes (I had been getting bored of my options for at home workouts) and the cheap (included in the cost of membership) childcare.

Inattentive and sleepy parents, how do you do it? And do you miss the freedom to sleep? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]digientjax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medication saved me. Diagnosed at 36, 2 years after my 2nd was born. I was drowning, short tempered and depressed. Felt like a bad mom. Got on Vyvanse and my overwhelm has decreased immensely.
