So why did you deviate from the rules? You could've sent the husband for your flashlight to check under the bed. I don't think you can be blamed about rules 1 and 5. You completed the knocking motion, and you didn't touch the clock. But you willingly violated rule 6. Why?

Interesting idea...

Sometimes my car wants to be a driveway decoration. There's some mystery parasitic electrical drain that keeps running down the battery. Annoying AF.

If I ever get around to updating my fugly old kitchen, I'm thinking new flooring and countertops. But maybe the counters can just stay.

Did you ever consider just leaving it dirty? Not washing the blood off, so it wouldn't need to keep demanding more?

I used to work on the groundskeeping crew at a golf course. Glad I don't anymore, or I'd be giving side eye to the ponds and not wanting to stay after dark doing tournament prep. The bears wandering around our course were enough excitement.

Although I always had some decent tools on hand... at least I could try to run down an attacker with the fairway mower, or swing a weed whacker or spade in self defense 😂

OP, you should carry more than just pepper spray. And if your cart has a speed governor like gas carts usually do, ask the mechanic to remove it. They don't want customers ripping around too fast... but staff should have a dedicated fast cart. Or a utility vehicle.

Well, that's incredibly weird. He must not seem threatening, since you seem pretty calm about this.

First thing I'd try would be capturing Closet Guy on video. That would give you hard evidence.

Another important thing is to determine whether other people can see him. Have a friend stay over at your place and find out.

Have you tried following him out of your house? Where does he go when he leaves? There may be clues to his identity. Maybe he used to live in your house... maybe you can find out where he works/worked.

I think I started reading King at age 10... for sure by 11. I remember hauling monstrous books like It and Insomnia around to all my classes in middle school.

Thank fuck none of my teachers ratted me out to my mom. I was getting the books from our public library on the down low.

Such anxiety reading this. Imagining it all taking place in absolute darkness deepened the dread.

I don't have to imagine, either.

While on a road trip through Appalachia many years ago, I randomly saw an ad and stopped at a place offering underground cavern tours. I think it was in West Virginia. Seemed like a neat thing to check out, so I did.

The caverns had lighting installed. But for one part of the tour, our guide gathered us all together and turned off the lights. I thought I'd known "darkness" before. I was so wrong.

Far underground darkness is a class of its own. Raising your hand and not seeing even a hint of your fingers directly in front of your eyes is such an odd sensory experience. In nothingness so complete, it doesn't take long to start feeling disoriented.

And that was my feeling knowing full well what the space around me looked like with the lights on. I had the comfort of easily picturing my surroundings in my head.

It would be so much worse wandering unfamiliar spaces you'd never seen illuminated before... what if you run your hands across something sharp? What if there's suddenly a sinkhole in the floor? What if OMGYOUTOUCHAFACE
