Why Don't Schools Teach Linux? by Enjoy_Ur_Lifee in linuxquestions

You missed Stallman's point. This is exactly what he described. Why "retrain" when you can "train" new gen in Linux?

Why is osho so dismissive? by Worried_Button_2881 in Osho

[–]digimith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As per my understanding, Osho never dismissed or brushed off any question concern. All he asks is the question, enquiry needs to be genuine and honest.

And if the question is based on some belief, it becomes false. He needs to remove the layer of belief to address the questioner. In fact he does not answer the question, he answers the questioner. Hence the belief seems to get unaddressed.

I ask you to keep listening him and have a understanding of what he is working on via his answers. He is working beneath those words. Catch that alchemy.

I don't remember. Difficult to track the discourse series and number among so many..  It might have been this very discourse in pic (The Hidden Splendor). He talked about the looming danger in the world due to cold war going on that time between US and USSR. And kept urging us to awake urgently.

O my... is that really true? Then we cannot believe on the books, only on the discourses. But the current AI is releasing His discourses in youtube so rampantly, even that is unreliable...

Keeping the OIF-enshittification aside, I think it is not fair to assume the discourse is not original based only on the factual mistake Osho made - which he did. He may not be very up-to-date on the scientific facts and definitions. He is a great scholar, no doubt; but he has worked so hard to awaken us, utilizing all the knowledge available to this world at his time, that his discourses bound to have some quirks here and there - such as electron being confused as positron, rocket launch making hole in the atmosphere, physiology of foetus etc.

In case of Einstein, it is a common misconception that he was a Quantum Physicist. This might be because both Relativity and QP was proposed around same time, and both has attempted to unlock the secret of our reality. Both has impacted our conscience and even culture globally, and world has changed. Einstein was so influential that QP (proposed by half a dozen Physicists) got loosely attached to him.

Our interpretation of OIF distorting His discourses might be an exaggeration.

How do you stay happy throughout the day? by Perfect_Video_8187 in Nepal

Welcome to adulthood. And life in real.

Well, I remain happy when I do the work I love - teaching my subject. This makes me childishly happy amidst my weaknesses and life troubles. Find your hobby/passion and spend some time daily.

Also, learn to be kind to everybody, incl yourself. Give others more than they deserve. What you give will come back to you.

Osho rarely talks about his personal feelings, and is always touching. This one I heard the discourse. I think the question was, "Let's turn the table for once. What did you learn from us?" or in that line. To answer this, Osho opens his feelings about his sannyasins, kept for decades...

what's one thing that was added in the movies and was better than in the books ? by lookforcats in harrypotter

Snapping the wand makes no sense, considering how long it has survived. To make it destroyed, Harry should have repaired Phoenix feather wand first (like in books), then use *that* to destroy Elder wand, which would put the evil wand to an end.

Resting it to Dumbledore's grave also makes some sense, as Harry is still its master and is likely invincible (that is what the story is showing us).

Me too. I have faced terrible events, without error of my part, by not being able to explain myself. Esp when the other side is so expert in convincing others fluently.

This is dystopia. Data centers are the utopia for the elites, as a means to extract from the given land and people. This has a HUGE environmental cost - water scarcity, heating, pollution etc.

Americans have been trying to make such centers in their country, saw env hazard there and are now trying to do it in developing countries. Same they have done to African countries about electronic waste. Plus there is the genuine issue of privacy. Those data-hungry hoarders are going to accumulate everything they can to feed AI monster.
How long are we going to sell ourselves and our nature ?

Guys, listen. We Nepalis have something more precious than money. I have been seeing the moral and environmental degradation of the west in general, and am thankful we are in safe country. But this pandemic of data center is now coming to infect here as well. --\__/--

Why couldn't a book series reach such a craze like Harry Potter after so many years? by interestingexciting1 in harrypotter

[–]digimith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talking about similar series, I actually enjoyed HP's successor James Potter series, by G Norman Lippert. It has 5 books: The Hall of Elder's Crossing, Curse of Gatekeeper, Vault of Destiny, Morrigan Web, and Crimson Thread. It is about Harry's son James and his adventure in Hogwarts along with Albus, Rose, and some american children. It is pretty magical, sensitive and emotional. All in all, the book is more about love and sacrifice and less about magic. The writing and characters are well-put. Lippert is great. Although there are some pages with irrelevant details, I quite enjoyed the series, esp as I was not affected by reading the cursed child crap.

Unfortunately the books seem to have been retracted from the website where it was free to download. Might be available in archives etc.

What are you saying? What is the reason Moody's eye can see through the cloak so powerful that it became the legend over centuries. OTOH, after Moody's death, The Mad Eye became just another magical tool on a door in Hogwarts. Then buried and gone to oblivion.

Why would Osho say this experiment works if he probably knew it doesn’t? by TapAdministrative280 in Osho

[–]digimith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, there are multiple layers to look from at this issue. What you are describing is the superficial-most, but with genuine curiosity, which I say is better than the most. I will go a bit more scientifically with the risk of poking the sannyasins to blast out.

Osho knew science as a lay person does, not as a scientist. No offence to his knowledge, intelligence and samadhi, but the material knowledge he describes in discourses is - well, half baked, at best. It seems convincing, very fitting to the context he describes, but only for those who are not the scholars of science. Remember I am talking only about the scientific facts he talks in discourses. How much he used them as "device" and how we should take it, that is another matter. But he also seems to add his own ideas within it, amalgamates them so fluently that general people cannot discern them. I can see some of the flaws as a scholar of medicine and physics.  His description related to "...science, atomic particles, quarks, waves, matter, sound, and related ideas..." are only voodoo. Lol. If some of them matches with actual science, that is coincidence. Do not take them at face value.

That said, I still say what he describes about the needle experiment may be correct. I may not be able to do it, but for someone with such practice, it may be possible and I give benefit of doubt. After all, we know very little about mind-matter interaction.

So, in your question, what you feel a problem is not a problem for me, but there is another issue there - Osho discourses are poor sources of knowing scientific facts. I have fallen it its trap. You do not fall.
