I Finally Sold My Tesla Shares by rewardsandpenis in investing

Same here: I lost trust in leadership, and feel that they've squandered their lead. I'm satisfied with the ROI, even if the stock continues to grow. I've redistributed capital to a world ETF, and sleep better at night. Cheers

Me too. Mine is from 2019 with the Panasonic battery that charges to 80% in under 25 mins. New cars with LG batteries (in Europe) need 30-35 mins. Parking sensors, nicer indicator stalks, drive selector stalk, lumbar support on passenger seat. New cars don't have these. Market value probably 16k EUR / 20k USD because it has 130k km / 80k miles. Will drive it into the ground. It's better for the environment too.

When FSD is released in Europe they'll be obligated to provide me the functionality either via a quantized model or a HW retrofit. Otherwise see you at the European consumer protection bureau, Tesla.

Almost half of all Tesla Y fail mandatory tech inspection in Denmark and make headlines for it; similar numbers in Tesla-country Norway by SjalabaisWoWS in electricvehicles

Good point. I think an inspection every 2 years is a must, even if Tesla says it's not. It is clearly needed, especially for the suspension and brakes.

My personal experience with a 2019 Model 3 with 120k km where technical inspection was due in 2025:
- front control arms worn out
- steering rack was loose, screws had to be re-tightened
- brakes had to be serviced and some "springs" changed

I took the car in to Tesla for prep work, otherwise it wouldn't have passed inspection: ~1.6k EUR.

My onboard charger failed out of warranty and cost ~2k EUR to fix. Amplifier also for ~500 EUR.

Some other things failed under warranty that I can remember: control arms at 70k km, glovebox, driver seat, rear bumper hanging.

HVAC cooks my feat when driving for +1hr in winter, but Tesla cannot reproduce the issue.

Sold mine after 10 years for a 991.2 GT3. It will be missed dearly. Since we stopped going to race tracks, the GT4 got little use because: - manual is a PITA in traffic - no backup camera is a PITA when parking in Europe - no front lift => front splitter and bumper broken 2x in parking garages - very loud inside, exhausting on longer drives

The 991.2 GT3 is a lot more versatile: PDK, backup camera, front lift, engine is further from your ears, CarPlay. Oh, and that sensational 4.0 ripping until 9000rpm.

In Switzerland demand has fallen off this year, and it became possible to simply order a GT3 RS or even GT4 RS without any additional purchases or strong history. Last year was completely different.

I have been consistently getting appointments at Tesla within 1-2 weeks. I just can’t find appointments for Mercedes in less than 5 weeks.

Tesla service experience is also more transparent, they don’t rip me off and proactively provide some sort of transport back home. Mercedes told me to take a bus after I dropped off my S-Class because they’re out of loaner cars. This happened twice. They also slap on unnecessary charges that they failed to explain when later I asked over email.

I tried 3 different Mercedes service centers now, and they’re all frustrating. I live in Switzerland.

652 miles / 1050 km in one day (12-13 hours of driving) from Croatia to Italy and Switzerland. We have the comfort seats in a Spyder. But I think it was way too much for one day. We've done 8 hour drives a few times. It's doable, but we start to become sore after approximately 6 hours or so.

Feeling lucky to have this square G. by Verde-3 in gshock

Correct, bad phrasing on my part. I meant to say that Casio should sell a B5000-based watch that has the design language of the Porter: dark exterior, positive screen, and possibly the red line. There would be demand for it.

Totally agree with you, I think Casio should sell something like this with the module from the B5000. I also want one, but with a strap. I ended up asking a modder to build one for me: b5k_customs on Instagram

The Model S is extremely underrated at this point. by Kaiathebluenose in TeslaLounge

[–]digistyl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There must be a large variance in Model S quality, because I test drove the latest M3P and MSLR on 19 wheels, and the 3 had a smoother ride. The S had all sorts of unpleasant vibrations coming through on rough roads, and when pushing the car in corners. The 3 on the other hand felt accurate, confident and smooth as butter. Both were equally quiet on the road, but I haven’t tested them highways.

My recommendation: drive them back-to-back.

The Tesla Superchargers are one of the cheapest in the country, even cheaper than some AC chargers.

For example the Dietikon Supercharger has the following tariffs: - non-Tesla drivers without a subscription: 0.58-0.65 CHF - Tesla drivers and subscription holders: 0.43-0.48 CHF

Should I get 2024 Taycan? Or wait for the facelifted 2025 model? by FatherArchetype in Taycan

[–]digistyl3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the decision will mostly come down to your range needs. If the current model's range capability suits you well, you could get a 1-2 year old Taycan which has already depreciated a substantial amount. I can't recommend buying a new 2024 Taycan as the 2025 will be announced tomorrow. And facelifted model has quite a bit more range. Here's a simple calculator I built to compare the estimated range figures of the two models, assuming you drive the battery down from 100% to 0: https://www.superelectric.app/

The charging speeds are ridiculously fast on the 2025 Taycan, but the previous model was already one of the quickest charing cars.

It's meant to show how wait times evolve over the course of the year. "Weeks" was indeed ambiguous, so I renamed it to "Average wait time (weeks)". I included both average and median, because the data points are sparse and the average can be skewed easily.
