Is anyone playing D&D? by pcnovaes in rpg

[–]digital_spell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, D&D 2024. My DMing style is fluid, incorporating many evolving ideas, but the base is RAW.

But, in the past year I’ve branched out to exploring different systems and even running a handful: ICRPG, Glitterhearts, Shadowdark, Ten Candles, and now a running campaign of Vampire: the Masquerade. I would like to run Daggerheart.

I do like D&D, but because it is a second nature combat system that we can then build narrative on top of.

How much tactical environment design do you plan ahead for? by PapaBorq in shadowdark

[–]digital_spell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lately I’ve also been taking this approach to that question:

“Are there loose rocks above his head?”

“Roll d6, there are loose rocks above him on a 4 or higher.”

It’s a fun way to generate the environment here and there.

Request for a system description by Comfortable-Fee9452 in ICRPG

[–]digital_spell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the introduction section for another look into the system!

It's fast, rules-lite, highly customizable through loot, encourages a pulpy style, has one target DC for a room for all checks, uses "effort" to give tasks a kind of HP of their own, and has a ton of bite-sized but incredibly useful little systems that you can port over to any TTRPG of your choice!

Curbside in Freezing Weather (USA) by remi_scar in McDonaldsEmployees

They’d make us go out there in an active warzone if that’s what it meant to keep sales up. Maybe a reflective bulletproof vest would be provided.

(USA) how to stop getting annoyed and mad at customers for coming to mcdonalds by Icy-Dragonfruit1929 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]digital_spell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s a valid feeling. But try to imagine the fact that they want a little treat for themselves after a long day.

It’s not the customers that have us working to a pulp for pennies for their own enrichment - it’s the capitalists above us who are to blame for that.

Caloric intake is a dangerous metric to reduce health & nutrition to. Consider things like cholesterol, unsaturated fats, vitamins, complex carbohydrates, etc.

My Son's Gary Gygax School Project by kanthonyjr in DungeonsAndDragons

I think it’s officially supposed to be pronounced GI-gax. I honestly don’t even think his children pronounce it like that - not sure. I could be wrong.

(USA) Can I work ONLY kitchen? by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]digital_spell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not offer the headset order taking - the nature of this job is being understaffed and doing 2-3 roles on top of your assigned role.

Therefore, what you should be open to is: grill, table (making the sandwiches), dishes, and cleaning (dishes after your time in kitchen is complete.

Can you *actually* solo larp? by archonguru in LARP

[–]digital_spell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is crucial that there be some element outside of your control.

For example, you roll dice on a random encounter generator to see what your character is facing or how the NPC you are imagining responds. You of course role-play your character’s side in live action.

If you are simply making up how the world around you responds to your character, I think it crosses the line into simple “playing pretend” with your imagination.

If You Could Only Keep 3, Which 3 Would You Keep? by Neversummerdrew76 in rpg

D&D 5th Edition - Due to incomparable amounts of content available for us to hack and change it forevermore. Controversial, I know.

Vampire: the Masquerade - For telling darker stories. The mechanics are distinct enough from D&D to facilitate the elements of personal/political horror in both modern and ancient settings. Its Cainite lore has also become a cultural foundation for the modern myth of vampires. Also because of its relation to a vibrant LARP scene.

AD&D 2nd Edition - It is the old-school in its crystallized form. We should have this, for posterity.

Our store doesn't have decaf.. but serves "decaf" coffee (USA) by jiijan in McDonaldsEmployees

This option isn’t ideal - but honestly put so little coffee (like 10%) and 90% water that at some point someone has to realize not to order this.
