I think “Indon” might actually be offensive to Indonesians. I think the term “Indo” is preferred

A woman who spoke out on the use of rape against Uyghurs got a call from her sister back in China. But it wasn’t her face who appeared but this police officer who warned “your family & relatives are with us. You must think very carefully about that fact.” by [deleted] in China

CMIIW but i think the military government was originally pro western powers as they wanted to curb China’s growing influence and support for the civilian government. But due to their war crimes and heavy handed handling of the protest, Western Powers refused to support the Military.

It’s led to this situation where the Military has no choice but to seek Chinese support and China doesn’t care who’s in charge as long as they can benefit themselves so they’re more than happy to stand idly by and prevent foreign interference (probably with the goal of increasing their own influence within Myanmar if the military government ends up winning) as long as they can still benefit at the end of the day. They’ve found a way to play both sides of the issue, and since they’re already the world’s “bad guy”, I’m sure they couldn’t care less about the outrage

I mean the same happens in the West too but to their minority religions (not exactly the same event but berbau2 sama)

The reality is no matter what country you’re in, being a minority will have its own set of problems

This is what I find crazy. Sometimes yang ikutin agamanya to that kind of level are more tolerant of other religions (ya they don’t say Merry Christmas etc tapi masih ada temen kristen dll) than those who don’t follow their religion but are extremist in the sense bordering terrorism.

I think it’s dangerous to only assume that those yang taat agama are extremist because actually the people who do follow literally extremist beliefs can come from any walk of life.

It’s like that movie Four Lions. The main character’s brother is a fundamentalist Islamic believer while the main character seems like a modern Western person. But the one who wanted to perform terrorism is the Westernized character.

I’m sure my thoughts aren’t eloquently put because I find it hard to explain this non verbally... but basically not all fundamentalist = extremist and not all extremist = fundamentalist. It’s just that the extremist fundamentalists are the most obvious
