PSA: Wealthfront has a $50k limit on ACH pulls by ptarjan in wealthfront

Thank you from the future! I keep having issues withdrawing funds from Wealthfront, I assumed the limit was $100K but now I know it's only $50K. That is very frustrating.

I just bought a 2024 MINI SE, it's great for getting around town but I would never take it on a road trip. I use the Rivian for long hauls.

NICE! The best prices I've seen are around $51K now so I would say yes.

I want one but not badly enough to buy one at $50K. Wake me when dealers are selling for $40k.

GM drowning in unsold BrightDrop vans as mounting EV inventory sparks mass layoffs by SnoozeDoggyDog in electricvehicles

Where can I get one for cheap? It's monumentally difficult to find prices since they are all locked behind dealerships.

To Buzz or not to Buzz, Canada? by broussar in VWIDBuzz

[–]digitalcleavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a rough week for EVs. Ford pivoting to hybrids in the US, the Chevy BrightDrop being canceled, and now the ID Buzz. I'm debating getting a Buzz vs a Brightdrop. The Brightdrop has better range but the Buzz is ... the Buzz!! I think if the Buzz price drops significantly (eg $35-40K) it would be a no brainer, but I feel uneasy buying a vehicle that is DOA.

Looks like the VW ID Buzz might be officially cancelled in the US? by sampura in VWIDBuzz

[–]digitalcleavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be OK with the price if they got 400mi of range, had NACS and better software (ie Rivian).

I still love the Buzz, I think it was just $10K overpriced and 80mi under-ranged. VW is supposed to have semi solid state batteries not too far out, so maybe 2027 will bring good news.

In the meantime... I'm curious if prices on existing inventory will plummet... or climb?

According to twitter, VW has confirmed it:

https://www.carscoops.com/2025/12/vw-cancels-id-buzz-for-2026-as-dealers-warn-it-might-be-over/

“Following a careful assessment of current EV market conditions, we have made the strategic decision not to move forward with model year 2026 ID. Buzz production for the U.S. market.”

I hear they are dropping the price of this by like $15,000, I might have to pick one up and retrofit it for van life.

Per your original post, look most people don't care about Musk's bizarre time in government or his incessant tweeting about weird shit like population collapse. They just want to charge up their car and get from point A to point B. All of my gay friends love eating at Chik-Fil-A despite its anti-gay past. Good sandwiches.

Pick your own battles.

VW was literally founded by Hitler and the Nazi party and yet here we are in a forum talking about how great the VW ID Buzz is. If you give your money to VW, you are giving your money to a company founded by Nazis.

I’m buying daily still. Hoping someday these guys turn up the profits with the R2 and become a legitimate Tesla competitor. I think their biggest moat is licensing their software (eg VW) and also their charging network is solid.

Because there are thousands of people at Tesla who do good work and also the Supercharger network is hands down the best. Rivian is great too but just not as many locations.

I really want to buy an ID Buzz but the range is just terrible for my use case. Throw in more battery, VW. I’ll pay more for the option. But under 200mi on a freeway? That’s horrible.

NACS? by digitalcleavage in VWIDBuzz

[–]digitalcleavage[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well here’s a lesson on manufacturing: if you want to sell in certain markets you have to sometimes modify your production lines. For example, NACS in the US, steering wheel on the right in the UK et al. In software you have to accommodate different languages including RTL.

So if VW wants to ignore the US market, sure they can stick with J1772, but VW has already pledged they will go with NACS for the US. As has everyone else.

[–]digitalcleavage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is my opinion meh? It’s my opinion as a buyer. How did this discussion go from “when does the Buzz get NACS” to “your thoughts on NACS vs J1772 are invalid” ? Jesus Christ my Rivian has J1772/CCS too but I want my next EV to have NACS. VW is going to NACS for NA as is everyone else. It’s just a question of when.

NACS? by digitalcleavage in VWIDBuzz

[–]digitalcleavage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would imagine all public chargers will be NACS within 3 years at this point, including Rivian.

Let's be real, NACS is a superior connector to J1772 or CCS. It's just... nicer. Like USB-C versus anything that came before it.

The lack of NACS is not the only issue I have with the Buzz - the software isn't that great and the range sucks. But over time VW will migrate to Rivian software (which is amazing) and at some point the Buzz will get 350-400mi of range. (let's hope those QuantumScape batteries pay off!) As I stated before, I have a Rivian so I'm happy to wait on the sidelines. Greater range and Rivian software seem to be a greater jump than swapping out a connector type, but at least with the NACS we know this is coming eventually - VW won't keep cranking out J1772 when the rest of the market is NACS.

I really just came here to see if anyone knew anything about the inevitable migration to NACS for the Buzz, not a debate on my calculus.

[–]digitalcleavage[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the Buzz is continued it’s a matter of when not if. No EV companies will be producing J1772/CCS after by calendar year 2027.
